Chapter 171: Another War Zone (3)

Keeran’s body almost froze, but she quickly snapped out of it, and she ran towards the bed. Her room was small, and there was no way to find a good hiding spot.

She covered her mouth with her trembling hand and closed her eyes.

The door then opened with a loud bang. Keeran’s body stiffened further at the shock, and she bit her palm to suppress the fear that was about to escape her mouth.

"Someone’s here?"

"I don’t know. But all the guides are said to be inside their room."

"Hah. Association fuckers hogged all the guides. Damn them."

Keeran knew that this was only delaying the inevitable. Her room was too easy to search. Should she have jumped in the window earlier? But there was no way to survive the fall at this height.

The fight outside was drowned out by the voices and screams inside the building. Keeran could even hear the fighting next door.

When their footsteps neared, Keeran’s body froze. Then they paused.

"Oh. Look at that." A singsong voice resounded, followed by whistles and laughter.

Keeran’s expression sank, and her shoulders dropped.

It was over.

Without looking, she knew that they had discovered her.

"Heh, miss guide..." someone called and touched Keeran’s chin, making her flinch visibly. Her eyes opened, and she was greeted by a smiling face, or more like a mocking one. "Why are you huddling in the corner, huh?"

His face could be called handsome, but it was only disgusting in Keeran’s eyes. She did not answer but shifted her face to the side to move away from the touch.

It repulsed her that they could just touch her like that.

The man’s eyes crinkled, as though amused by Keeran’s reaction.

His eyes even sparkled; what shit luck. The guide was gorgeous as fuck.

He turned to the side and saw that the other two also looked mesmerized at the side of Keeran. Their eyes exchanged glances, and a smirk appeared on their lips.

Keeran’s body shuddered at the gaze, her body huddled even further at the corner, hugging herself. She bit her lips and tried to think of Ayen.

The way these men look at her disgusted her. The corners of Keeran’s eyes moistened, but she shut her eyes and did not let any tears fall.

And she did not want to see them.

Keeran could not see the others nod at each other and was about to do something when someone entered the door again.

"What’s taking you all so long? We have to hurry up." Not even a second and the newcomer guessed what was going on, his face twisted. "You horny motherfuckers. Think of the mission and not your dicks for once."

He went closer; the faces of the three became red from embarrassment. Judging from the standing alone, the newcomer had a higher status.

Keeran opened her eyes and met the newcomer’s eyes. The newcomer was about to say something, but he narrowed his eyes. He leaned slightly and looked at Keeran’s face.

Keeran lowered her head; the man’s eyes gave him a different feeling from the rest. He was not looking at her with malicious intentions like the rest, but his gaze was definitely not good news.

"What is it?" The others asked him.

"She’s a little familiar."

"Huh? Where did you see her?"

The man did not answer as if lost in thought; then his eyes widened slightly when he remembered. A small smirk curled on his lips.

Before that, laughter resounded throughout the whole room.

The others were puzzled at this and exchanged glances, not knowing what was actually funny. Keeran hugged herself; she had a bad premonition about this.

Sure enough, the man squatted in front of her and looked her in the eye.

"You’re Keeran, right?" His eyes looked a bit terrifying up close. It somehow reminded him of someone.

Keeran did not answer. The man did not mind, as though he were certain that it was her name.

"You know Ayen... Tell me, where is he?"

Keeran visibly flinched at the mention of that name; she could not control herself and looked at the man with widened, shocked eyes. That was a wrong move, as this firmly confirmed the man’s guess, his smirk widening.

The three also seemed to have thought of something and suddenly became enlightened a few seconds later. They also knew who Ayen was.

"Don’t worry. Ayen and I are close," he smiled kindly. "I just miss my cousin so much, but suddenly I lost contact with him. So, can you tell me, where is my dear cousin right now?"

Keeran stared at him and observed him. No matter how she looked at him, she could not see a slight good intention in those eyes at the mention of Ayen.

And Keeran was with Ayen for a whole year; she had not seen him interact with anyone at all. She did not believe the man when he said that Ayen was close to him.

Maybe they were indeed cousins, as she saw a certain familiarity in their features, but they should not have had a good relationship.

"I don’t know him," Keeran spoke after a while.

This was a lie. Keeran knew that the man already saw through her and, for some reason, knew her relationship with Ayen. Yet, she chose to lie despite all that to indicate that she would not tell a single thing about Ayen to him.

This was a blatant provocation. Keeran did not take her gaze off him either, despite the rapid heartbeat and obvious fear in her eyes. She maintained eye contact.

Slowly, the man’s smile faded.

The man was used to everyone fawning on him. As a direct descendant of an elite clan, he was accustomed to his superiority over others.

His eyes turned sharply, and he grabbed Keean’s hair, gripping it tightly, causing her to show a painful expression. Yet, she did not grunt painfully and bit her lip.

"Hah, this bitch..." The man hated those eyes. "Where is Ayen?"

Keeran’s whole body was screaming from anxiety, pain, and fear, but her mind was more alarmed than it had ever been.

"I don’t know."

She would never let this devil find Ayen’s location. Even if he kills her.
