The Young master's fake bride and her lucky system-Chapter 108: Comedy and conflict = good ratings
A few of the other contestants giggled, some laughing loudly totally nonchalant about Ah Ci's angry face. The actress did talk a lot.
"Pang Jin De." Ah Ci called out the actor through gritted teeth. Her fists were clenched and she looked like she wanted to punch the actor.
Pang Jin De, gave Ah Ci an unimpressed look and he scoffed.
"That's my name." he answered her.
He smirked and looked in the direction of the field.
"You!!" she screeched like a bird on fire.
Alix guffawed and partially covered her face to hide the fact that she was laughing at Ah Ci.
The actress was really dumb. Who here was not aware of Pang Jin De's reputation? He was known for having a poisonous tongue. If you engaged in a battle of words with him, odds were that you would stabbed by his sharp tongue.
Whatever reasons he had for stepping in, she was grateful.
"Hi," the young man next to Alix poked her shoulder and waved.
"Hi," she waved back, with a neutral smile on her face. Not too happy but not off putting.
"I am Di Renji." he said.
"Alix." she answered.
"I am an actor." he added.
"Uhm...music teacher, song composer and err..., artiste."
She was not a singer but she performed songs. Granted the Ko-Qian charity benefit was the only badge on her chest but she would perform more and more.
A time would come when she would not need to introduce herself. People would know her as soon as they saw her.
The theme song for let's get physical started playing and everyone suddenly got serious. Most of them instantly put plastic smiles on their faces.

A few tried to look tough or sexy. Alix just looked sort of lost as if she was not aware of where she was or that cameras were already filming. She was looking around, smiling and even clapping softly.
"Welcome to the new season of let's get physical."
Bi Meng made an appearance along side her co-host appeared through the doors. They stood to the side, keeping a distance away from the competitors.
Everyone clapped together suddenly as if it was on cue. Alix would have missed out if she was not attentive.
"I am your host Bi Meng."
"And I am Qi Jian." the male co-host said.
"Follow us as we introduce the competitors this season." Bi Meng said.
"They are tough as nails, as sharp as steel and as determined as a storm." Qi Jian added.
"Wow, they are just sprinkling sugar, salt and pepper on everything." The blue elf was dying of laughter in Alix's mind.
"They have to make the show fun for the viewers." she answered.
"This show would be better with a live audience." The blue elf said.
"They have managed to have ten successful seasons doing things this way. Why fix what's not broken?"
Bi Meng and Qi Jian called out names and when Alix's name was called, she waved at the cameras as everyone else did.
A few more things were said by the hosts and then the real show started.
"As always, we have twenty four competitors, twelve men and twelve women. You will be divided into teams of two and those teams will not change for an entire season.
Three days a week, you will engage in tasks which will push you physically and mentally." Qi Jian told them.
"We will test your strength, speed, endurance, will and intelligence." Bi Meng added to his words.
They had obviously rehearsed this routine seeing as to how they perfectly followed each other.
Soon, within five minutes, each participant was asked to pick a number from a glass bowl. The men had one and so did the female.
"You partner is the individual with whom you have a similar number so locate your partners."
A few people shouted their numbers out loud while others looked around for to see who they would be partnered up with.
Pang Jin De, being the most famous celebrity in this group was like the biggest prize for all the women. If you could be partnered with him, the chances of rubbing off on his popularity were high.
Even Ah Ci that did not get along with him was hopeful to be his partner.
The actor however remained still and silent. His arms were crossed across his chest and he watched the others without revealing his own number.
"Pang Jin De, won't you show us your number? We could be partners." Ah Ci batted her eyelashes and tucked her hair back.
To the viewers, she knew that this would give off the appearance of flirting. Shipping was the best way to rise to quick fame again.
The only one who was not aware of these mechanics was Alix who didn't care who she partnered up with.
"Eight." She shouted her number out loud. Most people had paired up and it was quieter now.
She looked around curiously at those who remained with a small paper that had the number Eight.
No one was responding to her or holding up a number similar to hers. A few seconds passed and Alix started to think that perhaps she had no partner.
"Director, I think I don't ..."
"Eight." Pang Jin De uncrowded his arms and walked towards Alix.
"What!!" Ah Ci exclaimed.
Her face dropped as her eyes and body followed Pang Jin De.
How could the one who got in through the backdoor catch the biggest fish?
No way!!! She could not be that lucky. It was obvious that the director of the show had planned this with her. She was rich after all, so she must have paid money to be Pang Jin De's partner.
"I don't believe it, prove it." She said loudly.
The others shook their heads in disbelief. This Ah Ci was either brainless or shameless. Did she think these parts would be cut before airing?
"We should widen the scope of this conflict. We have barely started but already we have comedy and conflict. This season will surely be a good one for ratings."
The director chuckled and the producer agreed.
She and the producer could already see the ink drying on the documents for a renewal of the next season.
"Miss Ah Ci, we are the only ones left. I think it's obvious that we are partners." A singer, little butterfly caught Ah Ci's arm before she could make a bigger scene.
Ah Ci was unhappy and she ensured that she glared at Alix to express just how unhappy she was.
Meanwhile, Alix was awkwardly staring at Pang Jin De because of his first words to her.
As soon as he walked up to her, he said,
"You are the cat lady, right?"
