The Young master's fake bride and her lucky system-Chapter 122: A talk between three men.
The next day early in the morning, they went to Caishen's family home where they would be spending two days. Through the journey, Alix would not stop staring in wonder and admiring the ring on her finger. The silver diamond encrusted ring was just perfect for her.
Caishen had surprised her by the choice he made because it was a made for two set, his and hers. Watching him slip off that ring which she put on him the day had been cathartic in unexpected ways.
Now, when her eyes moved from her finger to his, a silly sense of pride washed over her.
When they arrived at the house and hugs and greetings had been shared, she held her hand up quickly and said , "Mother look,"
Yura and grandma Zhang moved their heads closer to look at the ring on her finger.
"Caishen bought me a new ring." she said.
"Oh!" Yura said in a surprised voice. "He did?"
It was more of a question than a statement. She was the one who picked out the rings used on the day of their wedding. She had also noticed that after the wedding, that ring never adorned Alix's finger but she stayed quiet about it because of the circumstances under which Alix and Caishen got married.
"It's beautiful, as expected of my grandson, he has good taste in the woman and the ring." grandma Zhang said. She looked rather proud and she approved greatly.
This was a step in the right direction.
"Auntie, you are here." A loud Xiaobo called and run to Alix.
The three women separated so that Xiaobo would have enough space to launch himself into her arms. As soon as he did, Alix carried him up like she usually did.
This time round she even swung him from side to side as if he was a baby and when she was done, she still didn't put him down.
"Ooh, Xiaobo, why are you heavier than usual? What has grandma been feeding you?" she asked playfully.
Very eager to fill her in on the time he had spent away from her, Xiaobo mentioned what he had been eating with a smile on his face.
"Food, milk, yogurt, porridge...uhm...candy."
"Woah, you have been eating like a little king." she poked his soft belly and started tickling him.

Xiaobo giggled at the top of his voice and wiggled in her arms.
Sitting idly in the living room, Caishen and Zhang Bo watched the interaction between Alix and Xiaobo with different thoughts in their minds.
Zhang Bo was relieved that Xiaobo had found another maternal figure of sorts to lean on that enjoyed playing with him. From everything his son narrated and the daily phone calls between them, he could see the influence she had over him.
Caishen was worried that his mother and grandparents would bring up the subject of children again after witnessing the warmth between Alix and Xiaobo.
"By the way, I have something I need to discuss with you and Grandfather alone, it's serious."
His tone, and weighty face expressed how grave whatever he wanted to talk about was. Zhang Bo nodded and the two brothers slipped away silently.
Grandpa Zhang was already waiting for them inside his study because Caishen had asked him to head there. With all three of them gathered, Caishen locked the door so that no one would walk in or over hear them.
"If you are locking the door then this must be very serious." grandpa Zhang said.
He was worried suddenly, very worried. An ill feeling settled in his stomach and great unease coursed through his body. Grandpa Zhang felt as if he would fall sick at any moment.
"It's about my accident." Caishen said seriously. "For a while now, I have had an inkling that it was not as simple as it seemed so I asked Mo Sen to investigate." He paused for a few seconds and pinched the bridge of his nose with his head lowered.
Both men were familiar with that action. Caishen sometimes did it when he was stressed or when he was about to share bad news, personal news mostly.
"What have you found out?" His grandfather asked, impatiently.
"It must be bad for you to be like this." His brother said. "Just say it, tell us if the entire family should be more cautious. Give us the name of the one who dared to cross our Zhang family."
Caishen lowered his hand and raised his head. He looked at his grandfather and said, "Grandfather, you are going to have to brace yourself. Truth be told, even I have yet to wrap my head around this. If you are felling faint we can do this another...."
"Will you stop chattering like a bird asking for grain and just come out with it." Grandpa Zhang interrupted Caishen's speech which was related to his health.
He was fine, his body was even felling better lately. He could not deny being nervous but aside from the nerves, he was okay. If he was not okay, he would not be the head of Zhang group at his age.
Caishen sighed loudly and touched the pocket of his shirt. He brought out a folded picture and unfolded it then handed it over to Zhang Bo first.
"Tell me that I am seeing things." He said in a deeply resentful and unsure voice. "Tell me that I am mistaken."
Zhang Bo's face changed, it paled and his hand trembled.
Grandpa Zhang could hardly wait so he stood up, bent over and grabbed the picture out of Zhang Bo's hands.
What he saw, almost gave him a heartattack. Just like Zhang Bo, his own faced paled and his eyes widened in disbelief. The beating of his heart quickened and he started to feel as if all the air in the room had been sucked out.
"Grandfather!" Caishen gasped. He wanted to hurry over to his grandfather's side but he could not do it quickly in the wheelchair.
It looked to him like his grandfather was about to collapse right there in his chair.
Zhang Bo was faster and he rushed to grandpa Zhang's side.
"Call the doctor." He yelled at Caishen.
Caishen was already on the phone, dialing the family doctor even before his brother could tell him what to do.
