The Young master's fake bride and her lucky system-Chapter 322: Coincidences or karma?
Sixteen minutes passed and Alix was not out of the bedroom like she said she would be. So far, six people had asked of her, including his mother and the two Tai elders who showed up with her unexpectedly.
Caishen turned his wheelchair towards the direction of the bedroom intending to go looking for her and stopped when he noticed Mo Sen coming out of the kitchen with a beautifully packaged box.
He waited for Mo Sen to reach him and he asked. "Is that it?"
Mo Sen nodded.
Caishen held his arms out and Mo Sen handed the package to him.
As he handed the package away, he said, "Young master, about the person you asked us to investigate, i have just received some news that her apartment caught fire six minutes ago. It’s not related to us but i just thought you should know."
Since he had vowed to share everything with his young master, Mo Sen would share it all, including the irrelevant things.
Caishen looked in the direction of the bedroom. His eyes were slightly apprehensive. What were the odds of the apartment that someone his wife didn’t like catching on fire so soon after they met?
It was just like the odds of Billi ending up with a weird bone illness that only infected her hands after being in the same hotel with Alix.
Were these truly coincidences or was something else going on?
"Keep an eye on the investigation and tell me about the end result. Get your hands on the investigation files, i want to read them personally." he instructed Mo Sen.
Mo Sen’s lips moved, curious as he wanted to ask why Caishen wanted the details of the fire and investigation. It wasn’t their doing so why the interest? He couldn’t begin to guess what his boss was thinking and it was not his place to question him, so he simply bowed respectfully and left.
A glass crushed from somewhere in the house and he looked in the direction of the sound. It was coming from somewhere in the living room but his view was blocked by a wall.
He guessed that someone had spilled wine on the white rug that Alix had put down only a day ago.
"I will clean it." Someone bellowed.
It sounded like one of the Tai brothers. He anticipated more spillage tonight because his house had never been this crowded. Caishen sighed and continued on his way to the bedroom.
He didn’t locate Alix immediately in the open area so he continued to the closet. She wasn’t in there so he came out with a frown. The balcony door was open and he was sure that it was closed when he left only a few minutes ago.
"Alix." he called out slowly but loudly.
He made his way to the balcony to close the door but before he did that, he looked out, searching for anything. He didn’t know what he was looking for but he just looked anyway.
Majesty leaped onto the balcony and darted past him quickly.
"Aaaah!!" a sound of surprise came from his wife.
He moved his wheelchair back even though the cat was already inside. It was standing outside the bathroom door, meowing.
Rather than paying attention to the cat, he looked outside again, wondering where it had come from. Did it come from the upper floor which was unoccupied ever since he ended up in the wheelchair or the lower floor where the bodyguards and nannies lived?
"Alix..." he closed the door and called for his wife again.
The bathroom door opened with a click and she stepped out. She was wrapped in one of her short towels and on her head was a pair of pink headsets. She was dancing, swinging her hips from side to side and moving her hands around freely.
Their was a smile on her face and she appeared to be so engrossed in what she was doing.
"Alix." he called again, even louder than before.
While he used his voice and went unheard, Majesty decided to try something. It raised a paw with a sharp claw and pricked one of her calves.
"Ouch!"
Alix jumped up and looked down. She noticed the cat and lifted the headsets.
"What is that? Are you trying to kill me?" she asked it.
Meow, meow, meow...it responded.
"Your husband is here, also, i want you to open the door for me. I want to go and party."
She didn’t do as the cat wanted first and her eyes searched for her husband first. It was so easy to find him as he was heading in her direction with his eyes glued to her. frёeωebɳovel.com
"Hubby," she said softly.
"You look much happier than you did when i last saw you." he told her.
She tossed the headsets on the bed and used her free hands to cradle her face. With what she thought was a cute look on her face, she asked, "Do i?"
He nodded. "What’s making my wife this happy?"
"The world is beautiful, i have a great family, and a wonderful husband. Moreover, i am pretty." She bent down and brought her face close to his. "Aren’t i?"
His eyes flashed with amusement. Every cell in his brain was screaming that she was happy because of another reason. This happiness she was exhibiting was the kind which often lead to body on body intimacy.
"Aah, i have received news that Yu Xi’s apartment apparently caught fire. According to Mo Sen, fire fighters are trying to put it out but it’s proving difficult." He tilted his head and observed her eyes curiously. "It’s so weird how the fire is extremely controlled. In a fifty floor apartment building, only that one apartment is on fire."
Alix’s eyes flashed without her realization and she smiled.
"Weird, right? But, i don’t feel sorry for her." She stood up and shrugged. "It must be karma getting back at her for all the bad things she has done in her life."
Caishen smiled too and he nodded. "Mmm, must be karma indeed."
If Karma looks likes you, he thought. There was no shock in her reaction, just joy that she didn’t know she was giving away. As always, she was as readable as an open book.
Whatever she had done, he would have to make sure that it didn’t trace back to her.
"What is this?" Alix poked the wrapped box in his arms.
"A gift for you." he held it up.
"For me!" her eyes went wide with the shock which she had failed to express earlier.
She took it from him and immediately started ripping it open.
"Hubby, i am so happy. Thank you, thank you so much." She put the box down and knelt on the ground to reveal it’s contents.
"Éclair toffees, lemon drops, crystal macaroons...." she gasped and looked at him. "Are you crazy? These practically cost one thousand dollars each. Where did you get them?"
There was more stuff in the box but she stopped at the crystal macaroons. While she often boasted about knowing the best foods in the city, which was only partially true, she did truly know the most expensive desserts and sweets in the world.
The macaroons were not even locally made, because the packaging had the tag of the original maker. It had come all the way from abroad.
