The Young master's fake bride and her lucky system-Chapter 616: Funeral or business conference.
Chapter 616: Funeral or business conference.
It was a part of their world which Alix had not experienced so far, an experience meant for only the top one percent in the country. The experience was not a celebration, it was not an occasion meant for dancing and drinking but rather a business meeting of sorts. It was also not a round table kind of business meeting but actually a funeral.
This funeral was not just any other ordinary one but the funeral for the Chairman of the Shen conglomerate, Shen Xiaoping.
The Shen family was the wealthiest family in the country and no surprise, involved in the world of systems.
Alix had not yet touched them or approached them physically, the only communication between her and the Shen’s was through the calls Shen Xiaoping had rejected. Alix had not seen his sudden death coming and she could not tell if it was a blessing or curse to her cause.
"Pay attention," Auntie Mo tugged on Alix’s dress and forced her to look at the sitting arrangement which was being shown to her by her mother’s assistant on a laptop.
"So, the Qin family will be seating to our left....."
They were in the car, waiting in line behind other cars that were going through security before being allowed onto the grounds of the Shen family.
Alix’s mind drifted off again to the day before, to the beginning of an experience into the world of the top 1%. The Zhang family and Tai family were also considered to be part of that world but never before had Alix seen or participated in a funeral for the two families. This was opening her eyes slowly.
It all started when she was taken out to shop for the appropriate dress for the funeral. As soon as the news of Shen Xiaoping’s death broke, all luxury shops in the city that sold clothes and jewelry were restocked.
Even TFK had put out exclusive jewelry with new designs which were meant for the exhibition this year. All of the jewelry had been sold out, no surprise.
Alix and the other women from the Tai and Zhang families had gone shopping for black dresses. It had surprised her to find that there were other women from wealthy or influential families doing the same.
Dresses, suit pants, coats, high heels, bags, all these, mostly in black were taken off the shelves quickly. Auntie Mo had explained to her that for them, funerals were places to do business, not just say goodbye to the dead.
The richest man in the country had died, the economy was going to experience some changes. Some businesses would be closing, other would be opening, some would be boosted, land would be bought or sold. Stocks in different companies were going to rise or fall, people would be losing or finding new jobs. One man had died, but thousands of people were going to be affected.
It really amazed Alix to her core that she had called Jin Kang and gossip about it. A man had died, but they had gone shopping, buying new clothes, new shoes, bags and jewelry to attend a funeral. In life and death, the rich and poor were still different!!!
"Alix, your mind has traveled again." Auntie Mo tugged on her dress once again.
Alix righted herself and she smiled apologetically at the secretary who was going to have to start over from the beginning again. frёewebnoѵel.ƈo๓
"Don’t bother her, i already received all the information for you and i will be relaying what is important." Her system came to her rescue.
In turn, she put her head on her mother’s shoulder and grabbed her arm. "I was listening mother, i can recite for you everything that has been said. Don’t worry, i am going to behave and i will not punch anybody, not even Rui Ka Kui or Zhang Lexian."
Auntie Mo sighed, this was a hopeless mission. If she was already naming enemies, she was surely going to throw her fists out if she was angered in any way. She lowered her eyes to look at the protruding pregnancy belly of her daughter.
"You are heavily pregnant now, you promised your father and i that you would tone down the fighting."
"One punch does not equate a fight, mother." She defended herself.
"Leave it to me, if anybody angers you, i will handle them." Auntie Mo pinched Alix’s cheek gently.
As a mother and system host, expecting grandchildren, she would defend her daughter with all her abilities. What else was a system for if not to protect your loved ones?
"Don’t worry, i will not fight anyone. I would not embarrass our family like that in front of all the wealthy people and dignitaries from far and wide. Even the former and current president are coming for the burial, if i move carelessly, i could be mistaken for one intending to harm the leader of the country.
I don’t want those secret service agents to leap onto my body in a bid to prevent an attack and end up squishing my babies. Grandpa will faint on the spot and cry out for his Liwu."
She chuckled at the image she had conjured up in her mind of that scenario.
"You are overthinking things young miss." Auntie Mo’s secretary laughed.
Auntie Mo was laughing as well, imagining the old master crying out for Liwu the unborn first granddaughter he loved so much.
Slowly, the cars moved ahead and soon it was their turn. The cars were scanned, their bags were checked and then they were allowed inside.
When they alighted from the car, they had to go through another check point and their bodies were also checked physically by female soldiers before being allowed onto the grounds of the large isolated mansion.
Security here was just as tight as airport security, but when it came to system hosts like her with her special bag, it was all useless. She had come in with her guns and bombs, not to mention that she was a weapon as well in her dragon form.
The grounds were covered in funeral flowers, white, yellow, green and even red but most of then were white in color, sent by various wealthy families and companies from all over the world. They led up to a temple on the grounds of the mansion where the body laid right now.
To Alix, the moment they arrived, she got goose bumps on seeing so many powerful people in the country in one place. So many soldiers and armed guards, some sporting the appearance of members of a mafia.
People were walking in groups, families as one unit as they exchanged greetings with others. They were pushing their children forward and introducing them to their fellow wealthy allies or potential business partners. For some, it was even potential marriage partners.
The words dressed to kill were not right for a funeral but they described the people in this place accurately. The number of five to twenty million dollar watches she saw being flashed on the wrists of the men and women could fund a small country for ten years at least.
The shiny expensive necklaces around the women’s necks, earrings, brooches and their bracelets could do the same for ten years. Even their hair accessories, another fifteen. It was ridiculous! but Alix could not comment, she was as overly dressed and decked up like the rest of them.
As for all the weapons in place, both hidden and exposed according to her system, they were enough to start a small war.
She was in a daze when Caishen walked up to them and took her hand.
"Are you ready?" he asked.
She shook her head. "I don’t think anyone is ever ready for a scene like this."
