The Young master's fake bride and her lucky system-Chapter 624: Liwu’s long waited arrival.
Chapter 624: Liwu’s long waited arrival.
She had come to this reasoning while she was still locked up and the two elves battling it out fiercely. As soon as Mafan said that she was not his original targeted host, it became obvious Caishen had been his first choice.
Mafan tapped the tip of her nose with a finger and laughed.
"You have become sharper, i did not expand your intelligence for nothing." He nodded. "He was the best choice because he was vastly wealthy, had no children so he could prioritize the game and best of all he had damaged legs. He was desperate for a cure, willing to try every known miracle medicine to the point of poisoning himself. He would have agreed to all my terms easily as long as i healed his legs."
Alix scoffed playfully, it made sense, all of it.
"So what made you change your mind and move to me instead?"
She winced and her hands clutched his arm for support as overwhelming pain washed over her again. "I need a hospital." she whispered.
Mafan lifted her easily and he teleported her and Majesty directly to the hospital in the hidden city. It was busy with doctors and nurses running back and forth to attend to various injured system hosts.
Luckily for them, they bumped into the captain and he sent helped them by commandeering a team to assist her immediately.
The captain also went ahead to inform Caishen and the Tai’s of Alix’s location. Inside the birthing ward, Alix lost consciousness, a deliberately calculated move by the system.
She found herself inside the virtual world, in Mafan’s personal territory which felt as real as all the virtual worlds she had been to.
"Don’t worry, your body is functioning as it should, i just want us to exhaust everything before we say our final goodbyes. I must return Ceraxes’s body to the tenth world." he told her.
"You are really leaving." she whispered. "I thought you were playing around. Why did you choose me? I want to know that at least."
"Because you were a more amenable host, in other words on the scale of intelligence you were easier to lead around by the nose, no offense." Mafan chuckled. "Caishen would have seen through me within a month, two maximum. You on the other hand, it took longer for you to doubt my origins, the ambitions of the game developers, why i was eating other systems and all that had to do with me."
She scoffed, not offended by the truth, she was not the shiniest bulb in the room when she met Mafan.
"You were just as good a host as him, as his wife you would have access to his money and you had broken fingers that you desperately wanted to cure."
"Tch, no wonder you wanted me to marry him, you were doing all that convincing on that day for yourself and not me." She rolled her eyes.
"Well, you are happy aren’t you?" he quizzed.
She folded her lips together and nodded, it was true she was happy.
"I am going to give up on the election, i cannot be president of the system bureau if i have no system and i do not want any of the systems you have stocked for me. It won’t be the same."
A tear fell from the corner of her left eye, she didn’t bother wiping it.
Mafan did the wiping for her, and he ruffled her hair. "So spoiled," he laughed, "You cannot give up the presidency, not now anyway. I am not leaving you empty handed, i will leave you with access to all the worlds you have been to as a player in the game so you will still be the most powerful person on your world.
You can also access different virtual markets and continue shopping to keep your mall alive. I am leaving you with money for that purpose. As long as you have the dragon card, which you always and forever will do, you will be known as the system host with a dragon and nobody will ever know wiser.
Most importantly, i am leaving you with two thousand systems and the ability to eat the systems of unworthy system hosts and a programme for rewriting them. You will be able to select who gets a system on your world and who doesn’t deserve one.
Lastly, i am leaving an open channel of communication between us, i will activate it when i return to my world. These babies have been under my protection all along, i cannot just abandon them, i am an uncle."
Mafan pinched her cheek, "Thank you for saying that you like me, it has been a pleasure Alix. Maybe i will see you again someday."
He did not say goodbye, Alix just felt her virtual body leaving Mafan’s private space and then she was back to reality, intense pain that made her scream as she pushed out the first baby.
Outside the delivery room, her worried family was unsettled, and the men were mostly pacing back and forth. Caishen wanted to break open the doors and go to Alix’s side but the twins were standing in his way. Mantis was the only person allowed inside to protect Alix in case someone tried to harm her and the children.
The doors slid open and a nurse whose face was covered with a face mask stepped out with one bundle of joy.
Grandpa Tai poked and pushed everyone out of the way so that he could be the first to take the baby.
"It’s a boy." the nurse announced happily.
The trident fell out grandpa Tai’s hands and he clutched his heart.
"Father, there are four more chances." Chairman Tai took the baby while consoling his father.
Another nurse came out with another baby, and again grandpa Tai hurried to extend his hands. When he looked at the baby’s face, he was certain Liwu had arrived. She was so pretty, a carbon copy of her mother from the eyebrows to the nose, mouth and chin.
"She is here...." he sniveled out.
"It’s a he." The nurse amended.
Grandpa Tai whimpered and Tai Ho Sun rushed to take that baby as well. Grandma Tai took the baby from Ho Sun immediately.
Caishen meanwhile had not even looked at his sons yet, his head was filled with worry about his wife. For him, boys or girls it did not matter, they were all his children. Alix had refused to do any tests confirming the sexes of the children deliberately.
His focus was solely on the screaming coming out of the birthing ward, his sister hulk sounded like she was in so much pain. He just wanted it to end quickly.
The first nurse returned with another baby in less than thirty seconds and this time, grandpa Tai did not leap forward, he remained calm. He was happy to have more grandsons but he had been hoping for a few granddaughters.
What were the odds that all five babies would turn out to be boys? Was their Tai family really fated to have no little padded jackets?
"It’s a girl." the nurse shared.
Auntie Mo was the first to grab the baby while almost everyone turned to grandpa Tai who was reacting in an unexpected way. He was sitting still, like he was a frozen ice cube.
