These Familiars Are Strange-Chapter 290: Invasion (9)
Once the threat from the high grade Abyss Demons had been dealt with, we didn't bother remaining in the center of the formation.
After all, with the way that we did things, it should have been easy for the Abyss Demons to figure out where these spatial attacks were coming from.
Once they did, we didn't want to be in this place in case they wanted to try counterattacking us for killing so many of them.
Instead, we went over to meet with one of the contacts that the captain had sent.
This was one of the conditions that we had raised earlier, or rather one that I had asked Yun Tian to raise.
After all, I wanted to see if I could find what the Abyss Demons had been using to hide themselves in plain sight. So the best way to do that was to look over one of the corpses of the high grade Abyss Demons that we had taken care of.
That was why we had the captains send someone to bring back one of these corpses.
Though in reality, we already knew that the captains would have done that even without us asking.
So the least that they could do was spare one of those corpses for us.
When we met with the contact, he didn't say anything as he brought out the Abyss Demon corpse and then left without a word.
I was surprised by the Abyss Demon corpse that he dropped.
I had been prepared to quickly search the corpse before it turned into loot, but a single look was enough to tell me that there was something different about this Abyss Demon corpse.
It felt like it wouldn't disappear…
It was almost as if there was something that was stabilizing it, which prevented it from being turned into loot by the dungeon.
When he saw the look on my face, Yun Tian said, "Is this your first time seeing this?"
I looked at him with a confused look as I waited to hear what he had to say about this.
Yun Tian explained by saying, "This thing was treated with a special powder that prevents the dungeon from turning it into loot. Normally one wouldn't want that to happen, but when we find new species of monsters, this is what we use to bring back a sample to study. There are still many things about the dungeon that we don't know about."

I gave a nod since what he said did make sense, but then I asked, "Is it hard to get that powder?"
Yun Tian shook his head before giving a nod as well. Then he explained, "It's hard if you don't know about it, but it's easy if you do. It's something that isn't common and only used by certain people. As part of the Abyss Guards, it's only natural that we have a supply of this as well since there's no telling what kind of things that Abyss Demon will come up with. We need to be prepared for anything and the best way to be prepared is to have as much information as possible."
I gave another nod to show my agreement before turning to look at the Abyss Demon corpse.
When I leaned in towards it, it seemed like I was looking over the Abyss Demon corpse. However, the reality was that I was only leaning in to let the Astral White Tiger hiding in my shirt get a closer look.
I even took a strange position where my chest was positioned near the Abyss Demon corpse that received a few strange looks.
I didn't mind them as I waited for the Astral White Tiger to do its thing.
Eventually, the Astral White Tiger gave a tap to show that it found something.
I looked down into my shirt and saw that it seemed to be pointing at the legs of this Abyss Demon. So I went closer to see if I could find what the Astral White Tiger was sensing.
It was just that as I went in, the Astral White Tiger brought me to a strange place.
It was pointing me to the tail of the Abyss Demon.
I hesitated for a second, but I eventually went to take a look.
Though in the eyes of the others, it seemed like I was looking at something else. After all, I started at the base of the tail that came out of the butt…
Iris and Wang Rong especially gave me a strange look that filled me with a bitter feeling.
How to explain this later…
I took a deep breath to calm myself before I started looking over the tail of the Abyss Demon.
It really didn't feel like there was anything until I reached the end part of the tail.
At the end of the tail was a bit of fluff that seemed to be hiding the tail, so I pulled it apart. The moment that I pulled it apart, that was when I found what was hidden behind that fluff.
It was this strange looking ring that was attached to the tail of the Abyss Demon.
The moment that it was revealed, there was a screen that appeared in front of me.
"This is…" I muttered under my breath when I saw this.
I didn't say anything as I just waved for Yun Tian to come over to take a look at what I had found.
Then when he leaned in, I whispered something to him.
Yun Tian slightly knitted his brows when he heard this before asking me, "Are you sure of this?"
I gave a slight nod before moving away as if this wasn't related to me.
Yun Tian just remained there for a bit before he took the ring off the tail of the Abyss Demon.
The ones that the captains sent to observe came over to take a look at what Yun Tian found, but he just said, "Call for the captains, there's something important that I have to show them."
They didn't dare delay when they saw the serious look that was on his face.
