Third Life Reincarnation: Finally Born Into a Magical World-Chapter 71: The Interruption of Wolf Sky Mercenary Corps (Part-2)
In the entire Western Region, what power could possess such strength and still dare to move under Western Mansion’s nose?
This was no longer a small matter.
This was a provocation.
Wang Zongyao already knew that this incident would have to be reported directly to Western Mansion’s higher authorities. An unknown force stirring trouble within Western Mansion’s own territory was an insult to its rule.
Then another thought surfaced, making his expression turn even heavier.
The group on the Yangsha Ancient Road... had been after Ryan.
And now, this group had appeared again.
Wang Zongyao glanced back toward the rear rings, his eyes briefly resting on Ryan. A trace of deep puzzlement flickered through his gaze.
Just what kind of existence had this young man offended, for such a force to mobilize again and again against him?
But this was not the time to ask.
Right now, Wang Zongyao had to step forward.
Western Mansion could not lose face.
Under the eyes of tens of thousands, having intruders storm into a qualification exam was already a humiliation. If it was not handled properly, how could Western Mansion continue to command respect in the Western Region?
Wang Zongyao turned back, fixing his gaze on the black-clad leader. His voice rang out, deep and commanding. "Who are you? Daring to conceal yourselves in broad daylight and trespass into my Western Mansion’s qualification grounds. Do you have a death wish?"
His words were sharp, righteous, and imposing.
Behind him, the Western Mansion masters straightened unconsciously, their backs stiff with pride, as if reminded that they represented the authority of the Western Region itself.
Compared to them, the black-clad figures seemed like hidden rats crawling out into the light.
"We have no intention of offending Western Mansion," the black-clad leader replied calmly, cupping his fists in a respectful salute. "We are only here to find someone. We ask this lord to grant us some convenience."
Wang Zongyao’s frown deepened.
Find someone.
The same words.
The same tone.
It was exactly like the encounter on Yangsha Ancient Road.
At this point, Wang Zongyao was certain. These two groups belonged to the same force.
And their target was still Ryan.
A cold light flashed through his eyes.
But even so, he would never allow them to act freely here.
"No matter who you are, or who you’re looking for," Wang Zongyao said coldly, his voice carrying unquestionable authority, "leave immediately. Right now. Otherwise, do not blame me for being merciless."
Trespassing into the qualification exam with such force already violated Western Mansion’s iron rules. Western Mansion had every right to suppress or even execute them on the spot.
The only reason Wang Zongyao had not acted was simple.
He was not confident he could win.
So instead, he invoked Western Mansion itself.
If he could not suppress them with strength, he would suppress them with authority.
Because here, this was Western Mansion’s territory.
The group that had stormed into Wushuang Square was none other than Shen Yu and the others from the Wudang Mercenary Corps.
Following the suggestion of his subordinates, Shen Yu had chosen the boldest course. Ryan had finally shown himself in public, and this was the perfect opportunity. Capture Ryan here, force out the power backing him, and then use Ryan as leverage to drag that hidden force into the open.
Kill two birds with one stone.
The plan sounded flawless. Shen Yu believed it to be highly feasible, which was why he had led his men directly into Wushuang Square, intending to push through the rings and seize Ryan on the spot.
The only thing troubling him was one fact.
This was Western Mansion’s examination ground.
If Western Mansion chose not to interfere, everything would be simple. But if Western Mansion intervened...
Openly opposing Western Mansion in broad daylight was never a wise choice.
Yet at this moment, Shen Yu no longer cared.
To capture Ryan. To lure out whoever stood behind him. To avenge Song Fengxi.
Shen Yu had spent more than half his life roaming the martial world. All those years, Song Fengxi had been the one brother he could truly rely on, the only one he could drink and talk with freely. Now Song Fengxi was dead, and Shen Yu could not even find the true culprit.
What meaning was left in living?
So when Wang Zongyao issued his warning, Shen Yu not only did not retreat, but his attitude shifted completely. The earlier politeness vanished, replaced by cold resolve.
"I’m sorry," Shen Yu said slowly, his voice firm and unyielding. "I cannot leave. This lord, we have no intention of becoming enemies with Western Mansion. We merely wish to find someone. Once we find him, we will naturally depart."
Wang Zongyao’s expression hardened.
"Find someone?" he said coldly. "Impossible. If you do not leave, then you are declaring yourselves enemies of Western Mansion. No matter what force you belong to, anyone who becomes an enemy of Western Mansion in the Western Regions will meet a miserable end. I guarantee it."
His words were sharp, brimming with threat and authority.
Although Wang Zongyao’s cultivation was slightly weaker, his identity more than made up for it. He was a core figure of Western Mansion’s inner administration and the examiner of Fengyue City. His status was lofty, his words heavy.
For a moment, his presence overwhelmed the scene, his momentum faintly suppressing Shen Yu’s.
But instead of retreating, Shen Yu met Wang Zongyao’s gaze head-on.
Then he laughed.
The laughter was wild, unrestrained, and filled with a chilling indifference. As he laughed, his aura surged upward in a violent wave, instantly crushing back Wang Zongyao’s momentum.
"This lord," Shen Yu said slowly, his tone dripping with disdain, "when I give you face, you are an honored lord. When I don’t give you face, you are nothing. Western Mansion? So what? In this world, the strong are respected. Only the strong are qualified to speak. Without strength, you should shut up and make way."
His eyes narrowed, sharp as blades.
"In my eyes, you are the one lacking strength. I am going to find someone today. Whether you allow it or not makes no difference."
The temperature in the air seemed to plummet.
Though his face was hidden, the cold killing intent radiating from his eyes felt like knives pressed against the skin. It was as if the moment Wang Zongyao dared say "no" again, those eyes would tear straight through him.
Wang Zongyao sneered.
"Is that so? You think I lack the strength?" he said coldly. "Then I’ll ask you for guidance and see whether you’re truly qualified to tell me to make way."
In an instant, his Upper Exalt aura exploded outward.
Shen Yu did the same, his own momentum surging to meet it.
"If you’re qualified," Shen Yu replied calmly, "you’ll know once we try."
Boom.
