Thirteenth Lady's Comback: Her Everyday Life as a Bystander-Chapter 204 - 3: Joyful Reunion (Part 2)
Forgot to mention, though Susu looks gentle and weak on the surface, ever since she encountered danger as a child in the village, her body seemed to have "unsealed" itself. Not only have her five senses of sight, hearing, smell, taste, and touch been enhanced, but her strength is also developing towards that of a strongman. Even though Susu has never trained, she can easily lift weights of a hundred and eighty pounds.
People often say that children should not speak of strange powers and chaotic spirits, but since even time travel can happen, Susu has gladly accepted the peculiarities of her body. Perhaps this is the Golden Finger given to her by the god of time travel. Compared to this, having a photographic memory or being able to drink a thousand cups without getting drunk are just trivial abilities.
Ever since Susu noticed the peculiarities in her body, she has been carefully hiding these talents. Even those living with her—Yang Liu, Ning Cui, and Bisi—only know a little, which Susu intentionally let them find out.
Susu always remembers, "Those not of our race must have different hearts," though she is very certain she is human (actually, she’s not entirely sure, maybe she has the bloodline of a fox spirit!). Nevertheless, she doesn’t want to be an anomaly.
It’s no surprise that the Old Madam likes Susu so much; she is "cheating" in life, after all.
At this moment, Susu rarely wanted to play a prank using her "Divine Power." She remembered that Hong Sheng also possessed divine power; it truly was destiny.
The pink and white sachet flew straight towards Hong Sheng like an arrow released from a bow. Hong Sheng, being experienced on the battlefield, immediately felt a sharp wind hitting him. Without thinking much, he quickly raised his hand and caught it just before the sachet reached his face, grabbing it into his arms. He only smelled a refreshing fragrance. Upon raising his hand to look, it wasn’t the weapon he thought it was.
His eagle-like sharp eyes shot towards the direction he felt the object came from. There he saw, standing by the window of the wooden building’s second floor, a girl in fine clothes. Although only half of her face was visible, she was stunningly beautiful. If Hong Sheng lived in modern times, he would probably recognize this as the so-called "perfect side profile."
At that moment, Hong Sheng felt as if his heart was being tightly grasped by small hands, capable of controlling all his emotions. Although he only saw a side profile, Hong Sheng wouldn’t mistake his beloved; she was the one who haunted his dreams.
Hong Sheng never used to believe in sayings like "one day apart feels like three years," or the cheesy "thinking of you day and night," but life sure has a way of proving him wrong.
Even though it felt like his face was being slapped, Hong Sheng found it sweet, "Love arises without reason, and once begun, it deepens. The living can die, and the dead can live..."
Just as Hong Sheng was becoming poetically inspired, turning into a literary youth, the girl facing him suddenly turned away quickly, then...
Then, she stuck out her lilac tongue playfully at him and swiftly closed the window. If Hong Sheng hadn’t been watching that spot, he might have missed this "fleet-footed" performance.
Hong Sheng’s heart was so full of joy he nearly laughed out loud, but he knew where he was, so he held the sachet tightly to contain his joy. Perhaps she liked him too, and marrying him wasn’t just to escape a concubine’s fate.
Hong Sheng longed to turn around and meet his beloved right away, but he was on an important mission and couldn’t even stop, so he silently tucked the sachet into his pocket.
On the other side, Susu pretended to calmly shut the window, though she was indeed nervous. It wasn’t until she tossed the pocket that she regretted her impulsive action. But recalling the enormous delight in Hong Sheng’s eyes when he looked up and recognized her, Susu felt it was worth it.
Perhaps at that moment, she hadn’t yet fallen in love with him, but liking can be nurtured slowly. And what is love, anyway? Susu didn’t understand, maybe a lot of liking equals love.
Susu patted her increasingly warm face, spat at herself mentally, and decided there was no point holding onto the guise of a Fairy, now that she’d resolved to "let the old cow eat young grass."
Actually, she wasn’t truly in a Fairy role. In modern times, because she could only rely on herself, Susu had to force herself to be a tomboy. Upon time traveling, due to her appearance and status, she gave herself the persona of being gentle, kind, generous, and straightforward. However, neither the Fairy, tomboy, nor the dignified noblewoman personas truly matched Susu’s character.
