Chapter 244: Chapter 19: Veteran Driver (First Update)

In the still of the night, Hong Sheng fetched some water and cleaned up Susu’s body, who was half asleep. Then he turned over, giving her his back as he lay down to sleep. Susu was utterly exhausted; Hong Sheng, this "silly guy," had wanted her three times. It seemed like he had been holding back for a long time.

But even though she was so tired that she could fall asleep the moment her head hit the pillow, Susu still managed to keep herself awake. She was waiting for something—for Hong Sheng to ask her about those aroma pills. What were they for? What was their effect? Susu had rehearsed the explanation in her mind many times. She couldn’t not tell Hong Sheng about it.

Susu waited and waited until she was on the verge of falling asleep, but Hong Sheng still hadn’t said anything. Was he waiting for her to confess?

Susu thought about it, and it made sense. She was being a bit selfish; she should have taken the initiative to admit it. Just as she was about to speak up after clearing her throat, she heard the sound of snores, and she was left speechless.

Does it have to be this fake?

"Are you mad? It’s my fault; I should have told you earlier. But I just finished making those aroma pills, and I wasn’t sure how effective they would be. We just have to try them to find out!" Susu was quite aggrieved. He had his fill and patted his bum with a few comforting words, and that was it. But she was the one who had to bear the brunt!

The snoring suddenly stopped, and after a long pause, Hong Sheng spoke, his voice a bit hoarse, with a tinge of embarrassment, "Now that we’ve tried it, how do you feel about the effect? If you want more, we can give it another shot to see if I can handle it!"

Susu had been feeling quite wronged, almost on the verge of tears since Hong Sheng hadn’t responded. But upon hearing his words, and the embarrassment, heaviness, and even annoyance in his voice (don’t ask her how she picked up on all that), she felt a bit perplexed. Was her not wanting to have children right now such a big deal to Hong Sheng? It wasn’t like she didn’t want them ever. Was it that serious?

And what does he mean by "handle it"? Wait a minute, Susu sat up and nudged Hong Sheng, "Hey, did you misunderstand something?"

Hong Sheng had intended to quietly wallow in sadness, but his wife wouldn’t even give him that chance. Was she really going to force him to admit that he couldn’t cut it? It was frankly humiliating! Hong Sheng also sat up, gazing at Susu’s incomparably beautiful face in the moonlight, and said with grievance, "You call me ’Little Sweet’ when you need me, but ’Hey’ when you don’t. What do you want?"

Susu’s skin crawled with goosebumps. What on earth was "Little Sweet"? She never called him that. But that’s not important. "What do you mean, what do I want? It’s what you want! I’m only fifteen now, and my body isn’t strong. Before getting married, the Imperial Physician said it would be best to wait until I’m more fully grown to have children. I know it was wrong of me to concoct birth control aroma pills without discussing it with you, and not mentioning it when we used them just now was my fault too, but that was an oversight, not intentional."

She had a bright future ahead of her, and Susu didn’t think she was selfless enough to risk her life by having children. Plus, she wasn’t mentally prepared to be a mom yet.

"Birth control aroma pills? Those were birth control aroma pills, not aphrodisiacs? So you didn’t think I couldn’t manage without taking an aphrodisiac?" Upon saying that, Hong Sheng was so ashamed he couldn’t lift his head. If the room hadn’t been dark, Hong Sheng really wouldn’t have had the courage to face Susu. Jeez, what a joke, he’s been taking pills!

Upon hearing this, Susu couldn’t help but laugh out of exasperation, and even her "hehe" carried a chill. Hong Sheng shrank his neck, not daring to make a sound,

"Aphrodisiac? Hehe, you’ve got quite the imagination. Do your family know you’re this mischievous?"

Hong Sheng felt that if he didn’t speak up, he’d end up worse off, "Isn’t my family just you? Susu, I’m not that mischievous, am I?"

Susu kicked him lightly, "Please move away gracefully. I want some peace!" Hong Sheng deliberately let Susu kick him so that he could roll onto the floor. Since no one was looking, choosing between saving face and keeping his wife wasn’t even a choice.

Hong Sheng sat on the floor, clutching Susu’s smooth leg, "Wife, who is this ’Peace’?" He really liked hugging his wife’s leg and wanted to be her leg pendant forever.

Susu: ...

Oops, I was wrong. I was really wrong. I should never have married Hong Sheng. If I hadn’t married him, he wouldn’t have turned into such a joker. If Hong Sheng hadn’t become a joker, I wouldn’t have ended up like this...

Susu realized that getting angry with a joker was purely a waste of energy because even if you died of anger, he might not even know it was because of him. He’d probably just think you’re causing a fuss because you’re full. So, sleeping, whatever happens, happens!

Once Susu had fallen asleep, Hong Sheng climbed back into bed, carefully wrapping Susu in his arms. Finally, he could breathe a sigh of relief! Geez, this situation was seriously embarrassing. Hong Sheng thought that it was impossible to face his wife, at least until tomorrow. He reckoned that if he didn’t perform well, he’d have to wait forever before getting lucky again.

After spending the whole day messing around yesterday and then getting into a big fuss, Susu had a nightmare of being chased by a monster and then being squashed by a giant weight like Mount Tai. She almost coughed up blood when she opened her eyes, waking up.

What she saw was Hong Sheng sprawled over her like an octopus with long arms and legs tangled around her. It was the first time Susu, waking up in the morning, had seen Hong Sheng. Usually, he was an early riser, having already finished his morning exercise and a shower by the time Susu woke up.

But today, seeing Hong Sheng first thing, Susu felt... delighted? What nonsense, forgive her for speaking crudely, but there was surprise but no delight! No wonder she dreamt of being chased by a monster and crushed by a giant weight. Damn, Hong Sheng, get up, and tell me how you managed to achieve this twisted position that even a judo expert would find challenging!

Susu was so frustrated that her eyes turned red; it was simply too much.

Hong Sheng also woke up when Susu did, but feeling a certain "desolation" from his wife, he didn’t dare to open his eyes. His sleeping posture was something he had developed from a young age, and one had to understand that a child without security from a young age could be like that.

Hong Sheng had always slept alone before, unaware of his potential "clinging" talent until after marrying Susu and sharing a bed. But since he always woke up early, and Susu slept soundly (like a little pig), Susu hadn’t realized that she was always being treated like a human pillow.

But yesterday, Hong Sheng spent half the day shopping with Susu, came back, and presumably persuaded his brothers through force that "Boss Hong is a man of integrity," then had a grand battle with Susu of thousands of rounds, while also dealing with the "aphrodisiac" event. Knowing that his wife thought he wasn’t enough and had to rely on an aphrodisiac was mentally exhausting. This led to Hong Sheng not waking up on time for the first time, letting Susu catch him red-handed.

Reluctantly, Hong Sheng unwrapped his arms and legs, but still buried his head into Susu’s neck, resembling a pitiful little puppy, "I’ve been alone since I was a kid, never thinking I’d live like this. Susu, you’re my lifeline. Without you, I’d die, I surely would. If you don’t want kids now, then I don’t either. If you want them, then I’ll want them too. Whatever you say, I’ll follow."

Swept away by Hong Sheng’s sweet words to the point of losing all sense, Susu finally regained her wits on the carriage. Geez, everyone’s an expert, huh!
