This is really not mechanical ascension-Chapter 256 - 142: Sparks of Awakening Trap_2
Chapter 256: Chapter 142: Sparks of Awakening Trap_2
Feder was somewhat surprised, and a look of admiration involuntarily appeared in his eyes, finding favor in the major’s manner of speaking without being servile or overbearing.
"Then let’s leave it at that," Feder sat down again.
Leaving the room, two guards were standing at the door. Chen Dahai greeted them and led Li Ming in another direction, encountering quite a few acquaintances along the way.
"When was Chen Yan captured?" Li Ming asked on the way.
"At 9 AM, she was planning a sacrifice ritual," Chen Dahai said decisively.
"Another sacrifice? To which dimensional creature was this time?" Li Ming asked in surprise.
"Not sure." Chen Dahai stopped, the two of them having reached their destination, the deepest room at the interrogation center.
Chen Dahai opened the door, signaling Li Ming to enter.
Li Ming frowned slightly. The interrogation room was not empty, there was a Sela person and a Yitelan person present.
Li Ming remembered that Sela person from yesterday, when Duke Bai Ye came to cause trouble, this Sela person was standing behind him.
As for that Yitelan person, he had not seen him before.
"This is the esteemed Hiley from the Sela Civilization, who provided the clue about Chen Yan. This is the esteemed Charles from the Yitelan Civilization, he is an Inspector," Chen Dahai introduced.
After entering, both of them were very courteous, nodding their heads to him.
Chen Yan was sitting across, her hair disheveled, behind thick glass. Seeing Li Ming enter, her eyes moved slightly, her face carrying an indescribable expression.
Chen Dahai closed the metal door and even locked it from the outside, activating the soundproof chamber.
"Chen Yan, Mr. Li Ming has arrived, please repeat what you just said," Hiley said gravely, "You ’Torch’ members, though sent here to stay undercover, are also wretched people. If you cooperate, we could be lenient."
Standing up, Chen Dahai walked over and asked coldly, "What dimensional creature were you sacrificing this morning, and what is that piece of black material?"
"Li Ming is right here, and he can confront you on the spot."
Only then did Li Ming notice, in the corner of the room, a piece of black stone, which must be the one used by Chen Yan for the sacrifice.
Chen Yan looked at Li Ming, a bitter smile spreading across her face as she struggled to say, "I have some private words I’d like to share with him; I hope they won’t be recorded."
Li Ming had a feeling that something was not quite right.
"What tricks are you trying to play? There’s nothing that can’t be recorded. Speak up!" Chen Dahai scolded unequivocally.
The Sela person Hiley hesitated briefly before looking at Charles, "What do you think?"
Charles frowned slightly, tapping on the table, then waved his hand and said, "Three minutes, you only have three minutes."
Hiley glanced at the virtual screen; the signal had been cut off.
Chen Dahai scoffed coldly, seemingly dissatisfied.
But the next moment, Li Ming suddenly turned his head, only to see Chen Dahai, now standing behind Charles, his face vicious, his eyebrows and eyes turned downward, suddenly producing a Wave Pulse Shocking Dagger in his hand, the silver blade swiftly turning crimson.
And with the speed of lightning, he stabbed toward Charles, who was right in front of him.
Charles was almost entirely unprepared, his expression drastically changed, just instinctively trying to stand up, a wave of green ripples surging.
However, Hiley, beside him, pressed down firmly on Charles’s shoulder, with earthy yellow rocks spreading from there.
And the Wave Pulse Shocking Dagger in Chen Dahai’s hand smoothly entered Charles’s skull, and he stirred it brutally.
Charles’s features twisted, his eyes bulging as if in immense pain, yet he could only emit a "huh huh" sound.
This abrupt scene caused Li Ming’s eyebrows to furrow deeply.
The movements of both were extremely quick. By the time Charles was powerless to resist, Hiley was already standing in front of Li Ming, extending a finger to his lips, "Don’t make a sound, whatever you do."
Li Ming shrugged, "The walls of this interrogation room are thirty centimeters thick alloy chambers, plus a vacuum layer. What sound can escape?"
"Both of you, you’re ’Torch’?" Li Ming had guessed it, "Then the trouble caused by Duke Bai Ye last time, that must have been your test."
This was the terrifying aspect of ’Torch.’ They had operated in the Silver Star Cluster for hundreds of years, reigniting countless times, relying on the nearly omnipresent ’Torch.’
His most famous Torch even became the president of a civilization at one time, cultivated countless Torches, and caused tremendous trouble for the Yitelan Civilization, with his influence persisting to this day.
Some Torches, before they were activated, had a level of loyalty to their undercover civilization that was even higher than that of the majority of the native people.
Watching Li Ming’s calm reaction, Hiley’s eyes narrowed slightly as she took something out from behind her.
They were old acquaintances, the gene inhibitor shackles, which Li Ming recognized at a glance.
Back then, the gene inhibitor he had used on Sain had yet to be retrieved, and he had no idea where it had been lost.
He held out his hand in a familiar way, signaling for her to put it on quickly, "If you are using a gene inhibitor, then you’re not trying to kill me. You want to take me out of here; that’s impossible, you can’t leave this place."
Hiley furrowed her brows, wanting to fit Li Ming with the gene inhibitor, but feeling that something was off.
Because the guy was being too cooperative.
Although their plan matched their goals, why was the process strangely unnerving, and why did the guy exhibit not the slightest worry or surprise?
"How we get out is our business!" Hiley said crudely, clamping the device onto Li Ming’s hands. The metal mechanical structure extended and opened up, covering both of Li Ming’s arms and rendering them immobile.
He snorted coldly; even if Li Ming had some cunning, he couldn’t resist the Torch.
"Chen Yan, come and get ready," Chen Dahai opened a small door to the side, unbinding Chen Yan.
She walked out on her own, her eyes flickering.
Clearly, this was a trap. These two were quite bold—the procedure was correct, so no one stopped the two of them.
And just like that, he was brazenly taken here.
It must be said, these two were quite the actors. At least before Chen Dahai made a move, the only thing Li Ming could tell was that Chen Yan’s behavior was very odd.
"You’re not preparing to sacrifice me again, are you?" Li Ming said with a hint of resignation, "Chen Yan, we’ve been friends for so long, give me an explanation."
"The Dimension Crystal is gone, and we can’t communicate with Superpower Istanbul," Chen Yan said, approaching the black stone.
Meanwhile, Chen Dahai took out a metal plate from behind and threw it on the ground. The metal structure quickly expanded, eventually transforming into a patterned panel covering half the room.
"Then what is all this for?" Li Ming asked, puzzled.
"You ask too many questions!" Hiley rudely interrupted, "Right now, we ask you, what the hell happened in that underground lab, and why exactly did Lady Carolyn die."
"How about this, you answer one of my questions, and I’ll answer one of yours, how does that sound?" Li Ming countered.
"Ha..." Hiley scoffed, "No one is coming to save you, stop dreaming of buying time."
Li Ming was completely bewildered, "If you don’t have the Dimension Crystal, why are you still so determined to capture me?"
"And not let Feder come along—why not just kill him too?"
"His identity is more important than yours, and someone will be following him closely," Chen Yan explained, holding the irregular black metal block in her hands, "Our goal this time is simple, just to take you away."
"So, you chose the Torch?" Li Ming shook his head, "That’s not a wise choice."
"What do you know!" Chen Yan snapped, her face tense, "Haven’t you realized how terrifying the Torch is? Even a command center as well-garrisoned as this, you were still captured!"
"Everyone around you could be a Torch!"
"I sent you a message, I could ensure your safety," Li Ming sighed, harboring no particular feelings for Chen Yan.
She had been cooperative before, so he didn’t mind speaking up for her.
"How can you guarantee that?" Chen Yan sounded as if she was provoked.
"Stop pretending to be nonchalant or offering me pity," Chen Yan’s voice grew louder, "You cut off my arm with no hesitation before. Do you really think I would submit to a few words if not for the threat of life or death? By what right?"
"And you revealed my identity to Chen Jinglong—it was nothing more than mutual exploitation!"
Chen Dahai sensed something was amiss, "What life or death threat? What are you talking about?"
