This Life, I Will Be the Protagonist-Chapter 1260 Divine Gifted Talent: Romantic Deviation
Looking through the battlefield rankings, Rita thought the general style was similar. No one really stood out as far superior, but at least everyone was better than the bottom two.
While Lightchaser kept coldly smirking at the Foolishness Game call, Rita took the chance to open her Starsea chest.
She first pulled out some coins and tossed them into the air—Endless Coin—attempting to upgrade today’s rewards. The coins flipped in the air and landed back in her hand. The chest didn’t show much difference in information, but the glow was noticeably brighter.
Next, she used Let It Die to summon today’s lucky bento. Satisfied that it wouldn’t start talking nonsense again, she finally opened the chest fully.
Rita hoped for something stronger, but also something useful. She didn’t want to replace her current gear if she could help it.
Truth be told, compared to the Starsea chest, what she really wanted was the previous Overlord chest. That was the only way she could evolve her divine talent skills.
Even though battles had reached a whole new level after unlocking divine talents, using them still required soul fire. After Divine Instruction ended, she hadn’t had time to test the recovery rate. But during their meal and chat earlier, Lightchaser had already given her the answer.
Twenty minutes had passed since she had spent all her soul fire searching for the most Brilliance timeline. Lightchaser had only recovered two points.
The chest finally opened, and after a brilliant light show, the reward appeared—a cluster of golden, thread-like leaves.
It looked familiar. Could this be the final form of the golden tree?
Technical Adjustment: Using this item grants all skills under your current divine talent one adjustment. Values will be significantly reduced, but the skill will continue to function against targets that have already detached from divine blessing.
A good reward—on par with the ability to redraw her Player Relic.
Combat power updates signaled that player strength had reached a new dimension.
In Quiet Mountain, 80% of her skills required ultimate abilities. Not because she craved more effects, but because against Quiet Mountain players, most skills wouldn’t work without them.
She bit into the chives with anticipation.
Divine Gifted Talent: Romantic Deviation (SP)
"The game has already descended. Rules are set, the destined course written. Yet the helm is in my hands, and I still have words to speak."
Skill 1: Romantic Deviation
Activate this state. All incoming skills have a 50% chance to deviate. No cooldown. Can be toggled freely. While active, 1% of maximum health is consumed per second.
Skill 2: One-Person Party
When unteamed, you may create a party rule. All lifeforms in your domain must follow it. Duration: 30 seconds. Each use consumes 20% mana. Cooldown: 2 hours. Only one party rule can exist at a time.
Skill 3: Pirate Entrance (Passive/Active)
Passive: When wave sounds occur and HP <50%, each attack has a 5% chance to steal 1 soul fire from the target.
Active: Consume 10% HP to guarantee stealing the target’s current thought.
Skill 4: Long Sigh
Listen to the world’s sighs. For 30 seconds, every time you speak of a world’s sigh, creatures of that world pause and weep. Each use requires maintaining a daily record of that world’s civilization for 2+ hours over the next 6 Starsea days, or 1 World Sigh will be forcibly deducted. (Quiet Mountain players’ alignment equals their main body.)
Skill 5: What Is Adjudicator
"I will not lose. That is Adjudicator."
Consume 20% wealth to force a draw in the next battle. Burn all wealth except six marked magical items, and Adjudicator guarantees victory in the next battle. Cannot use if player wealth is below world average.
Skill 6: Ship, Prologue, Rhapsody (Passive)
When battling a stronger opponent upstream, enter Rhapsody Mode to record, analyze, and learn their combat techniques and experience for your use.
Rita’s gaze lingered on the phrase about burning all wealth except six marked items to guarantee victory.
She thought carefully. Who in Starsea or Quiet Mountain was worth risking her entire fortune to defeat?
Many had conflicts with her, but she had never hated anyone enough to bet everything. There was no need.
Still, after consideration, she summoned BS. She repeated the skill’s conditions, then asked the crucial question.
Rita: "Am I your wealth?"
BS: "No. I can be, but I am not."
Rita: "So... am I?"
BS: "No. Adjudicator can be safely used. I am your responsibility, not your wealth."
This kid knew how to speak.
With the timeline issue confirmed, battlefield rankings reviewed, and Starsea chest opened, Rita prepared for the next bell toll.
By now, Lightchaser had finished arguing with her other self and returned the revolver to her apprentice, frowning.
Rita’s fingers brushed the soul fire imprint on the stock of Foolishness Game, erasing the two teachers’ permissions.
The six-item marking limit was a bit inconvenient. Her magical teeth had lost their effect, and the Gacha Machine had been unmarked. After so long in the game, she was used to the inventory space, but now she had to carry things in her pockets again.
Luckily, her Player Relic hung around her neck. The lantern and helm floated behind her. Cat’s Head was clipped to her collar. Coins were in her pocket. The revolver rested in its holster on her leg.
For other miscellaneous items, she planned to find a skill that could carry them.
She bid farewell to Lightchaser and Cinders amidst the chatter.
Back at BS, Rita locked herself in her study for the night. The next morning, she gathered the leaders in her small villa for a meeting.
But no sooner had they sat than BS’s sigh echoed in her mind.
BS: "Listen."
Rita: "What?"
BS: "War and wailing."
BS: "Divine Game players, to prepare for the third pendulum strike, the invasion sequence has been updated. Entry into the final descent stage requires over 10% invasion progress."
BS: "Not all players seek coexistence like you. Not all will wait patiently. For those surviving repeated wars, for those accustomed to conflict, war is the fastest, most efficient solution."
"What if world levels are insufficient? Annex other worlds. What if world skills are lacking? Collect more world fragments."
Since the first bell, the requirements for final descent have become easier each time—Starsea’s convenience for the players.
After the first bell, war had already erupted. Rita had always been busy—writing World Sighs, dragging BS along the timeline...
She straightened in her chair.
She thought of the players who withdrew during the last battle.
Were they really worried that their kin would be executed if they lost?
Like Fury Machine... like the cleverly self-sacrificing Tingo Autumn Deer and TingoJE.
As if confirming her thoughts, the battlefield announced in response to BS’s "Listen":
Battle Announcement: Fury breached Oddity Amber Mark. Oddity Amber Mark destroyed.
Battle Announcement: Tingo breached Black Spring. Black Spring destroyed.
