This Life, I Will Be the Protagonist-Chapter 419: Snow Pile’s Gift & Apache’s New Invention
Nivalis selected 20 languages that Rita didn’t know from the Languages of All Races options.
But when she was about to select the last language, Nivalis hesitated and asked, "Should we choose Moon Fox Language?"
After all, they’d still need to trade with Mistblade for quite a while.
Rita shook her head. "No need. We’ve got translators outside, and on the battlefield, we can just use sign language with her. If the rules really include Moon Fox Language, we can trade with her directly."
Nivalis nodded. That made sense. No need for the language; they could continue their game of "Pictionary" with Mistblade instead.
After selecting the languages, Nivalis handed Rita a bowl containing something. "This is a gift from Snow Pile to thank you for looking after me."
Rita took the gift, a half dragon egg shell. To her surprise, it fit perfectly on her head!
The eggshell was a soft pink with intricate deep red patterns on it, and although there were a few cracks along the edge, the sharp corners had long since worn smooth. From the moment she held it, faint flickers of flame would occasionally emerge from the shell, as if the eggshell itself had some sort of life.
Nivalis explained, "This is the shell of a dragon egg that failed to hatch. Snow Pile says you can use it to brew potions or cook, and something amazing will happen."
[Sleeping Dragon Eggshel] (Treasure): The shell left behind by a dragon that died in the hatching stage. Only beings blessed by the dragons can receive it. Whatever you do with it, it will occasionally surprise you.
It was just like the legendary Dragon Ancestor’s Scales she had received before.
Rita raised an eyebrow. "Aren’t you keeping it as a keepsake?"
Nivalis shrugged. "Snow Pile said it’s already been kept long enough. The best keepsake is to give it to a close friend of the dragons. The little dragon inside will get to see more adventures with us. Snow Pile says if you like the gift, you should take it out often and show it the world."
Without hesitation, Rita attached a binding stone to the eggshell and stored it safely.
Though it was still early evening, Rita wasn’t planning to relax. "I’m heading to Lania Kaia to find Apache. Are you coming?"
"Of course! I brought back lots of scraps from Dragon Island. Do you think I can sell them to Apache?"
"You can, just don’t talk. I’ll handle the negotiations."
…
By the time they reached Ashe City, Rita realized she had spent all her money before entering the world battlefield, buying S-rank skills like Underwater Combat and Blink. In the end, it was Nivalis who had paid for everything.
Apache was at his usual spot, but today he seemed busier than usual. There were a lot of customers, all from different races, and Kayden was running around managing things.
Rita, in her Wind Scythe form, decided to help. Kayden handled the payments while Rita fetched potions from the display shelves.
She noticed the customers were all asking for the same potion, one she had never seen or heard of before. It came in two versions: a more expensive one priced at 2,000 coins per bottle, and a cheaper one at 300 coins.
Kayden was busy counting coins.
Rita looked at the 2,000-coin potion in her hand, her eyes widening in shock.
[This Skill I Don’t Like II]: Choose a divine talent skill no higher than A-rank, apply this potion to the skill’s description on the game panel, and you can discard the current skill to draw a new divine talent skill. The new skill will be at the same rank as your divine talent level. (Invented by: Apache)
The cheaper version, [This Skill I Don’t Like I], could only change A-rank and below skills.
"Did Apache invent all these?" Rita asked, still shocked.
Kayden casually explained, "Yeah, didn’t you read the Alchemy Daily? Last week’s headline was all about Apache."
Rita hadn’t had time to catch up. She was impressed. She didn’t need the potions herself, but she was curious to learn more. If the cost wasn’t too high, these potions were essentially like a form of alchemy!
Back when she didn’t want to sell things at BS, it was because the area lacked resources, and draining BS players dry would only slow her planet’s development. But now, the players had started to grow, and at least Eclipse Vanguard was doing well. Recently, they’d been speaking more confidently.
They were so busy that six hours flew by. Nivalis had even gone off to watch Apache brewing potions.

Now, with the [Clock Reversal] skill, Rita could use her [Out of the House, Identity is Self-Given] skill seamlessly. The cooldown was only 4 hours, and with [Clock Reversal], it was reduced by 50%, so it only took 2 hours to reset.
There were a few awkward seconds in between, so Rita had to hide out for a bit.
She didn’t mind these six hours though. The 16 months of battle courses had left her mentally drained, and the repetitive, brainless task of fetching potions was actually quite soothing, giving her mind a much-needed break.
By 2 AM, when Dark City’s closing time came, Rita and Kayden were finally free, as the potions had all been sold out.
Rita sat at a table, where Apache had already arranged dinner.
Reflecting on the intense scene earlier, when customers nearly fought over the potions, Rita casually said, "Good thing you don’t have a quota system here. Otherwise, Kayden and I might have been caught in the middle of it."
Apache paused his movement as he was pouring wine. "What’s a quota system?"
Rita took the spoon and bowl from Kayden, thanked her, and explained, "It’s when you have to spend a certain amount of money in the store before you’re allowed to buy potions like This Skill I Don’t Like."
She waited for Apache to take the first spoonful, but he didn’t move. She looked at Nivalis, only to see her staring at her with a complex expression.
It was a mix of regret, shock, realization, and sadness… all of it condensed into one thought: Why didn’t you say this earlier?!
Nivalis, holding a spoon and bowl, decided to help out. "You could also sell blind-box potions, where every potion goes into a small, uninspectable box called a Lizi. Inside, there could be all sorts of potions, with the best being This Skill I Don’t Like II. You could sell them all for 99 coins each."
Rita gave Nivalis a look that said, You’re still too green.
"Here’s the real deal: 33% of the potions should be worth around 50 coins, 53% worth 50–100 coins, and 23% worth 100–150 coins. The last 1% should be This Skill I Don’t Like I."
Apache and Kayden were so absorbed in her explanation that they forgot to breathe.
Kayden asked, "But what about This Skill I Don’t Like II?"
Rita smirked, "You could put one in a box. Then, you find a necromancer, and during peak hours in the store, get them to buy the box with the This Skill I Don’t Like II potion. They’ll open it in front of the customers, and once the rush is over, they can return the potion to you. You just give them a small reward."

"You’d only need to do this once a month, but you should use different races to keep things fresh. Don’t always use undead."
"Plus, you always complain about the unpopular potions not selling, right? This method will help you clear them out."
Apache and Kayden exchanged impressed looks, already beginning to discuss the idea in detail.
Rita was pleased. Her suggestion could definitely shake things up!
