Chapter 1651: Chapter 1651: There are Intruders

The Demon Refining Island Base was vast, divided into several zones. Even if you had spent years here, moving to a different area could make you feel utterly lost.

Now, Gu Fan, Lin Yue, Leng Feng, and Gu Xiaojin had wandered around for quite some time, unable to find their way back. There was even a growing feeling that they were moving farther and farther from the ventilation shaft they entered through.

Gu Fan had marked the path they’d taken earlier, but because Gu Xiaojin sensed danger, the group changed direction—and now found themselves unable to return.

What should they do? If they remained trapped here without food and water, they wouldn’t last long. Sooner or later, they’d be discovered.

Thinking it over, Gu Fan decisively abandoned the idea of retracing their steps, as it was clearly impossible under the current circumstances.

Instead, Gu Fan proposed breaking out through the main entrance. Everyone was shocked—it seemed far too risky. Just hearing the alarms was enough to know the main entrance was heavily guarded, with stringent checks on anyone attempting to pass.

The plan wasn’t entirely implausible, though. Gu Fan looked seriously at Gu Xiaojin. This time, whether they could slip through unnoticed would depend on Gu Xiaojin.

Suddenly, a broadcast blared, announcing suspicious individuals in Area B. "Suspicious individuals detected in Area B!"

The group froze, looking around. Many enemies rushed in a certain direction, completely ignoring Gu Fan and the others as they ran past.

How odd. Gu Fan and the others hadn’t been discovered—so who were these suspicious individuals the enemy had detected?

Leng Feng suggested that, since the enemy’s attention was focused on Area B, they should seize the moment and escape.

Gu Fan honestly wanted to see who this so-called suspicious individual was. But prioritizing survival, he reluctantly agreed with Leng Feng—they needed to escape as quickly as possible.

However, if all the enemies were headed to Area B to deal with the suspicious individual, and Gu Fan’s group went the opposite direction, it would immediately raise suspicion.

So, under Gu Fan’s suggestion, the four disguised themselves as enemy troops and headed towards Area B, blending in while seeking an opportunity to slip away.

Enemy forces swarmed towards Area B. Gu Fan couldn’t help but wonder what kind of person could provoke such concentrated attention from the enemy.

Suddenly, screams erupted from the corner ahead. People were sent flying, chaos unfolding as bodies piled up like broken dolls.

The crowd obscured Gu Fan’s vision, preventing him from clearly seeing what was happening. All he could sense was some unstoppable force tearing through the enemy ranks.

"Stop him! Hurry, stop him!" The enemy shouted frantically as reinforcements swarmed from all directions—only to be thrown aside without exception.

Seeing the overwhelming power and terrifying fury of the figure ahead, the enemies retreated in panic, pressing against the walls or lying on the ground, pretending to be dead.

The chaos scattered the crowd instantly, separating Gu Fan, Lin Yue, Leng Feng, and Gu Xiaojin. None could tell where they were or locate their companions.

Gu Fan stepped back repeatedly, struggling to sidestep the incoming figure. But the crowd surged, leaving him no space. He was forcibly shoved directly into the path of the advancing figure.

"It’s you..." Close-range, Gu Fan recognized the man—it was Zhuo Hang.

But Gu Fan was wearing a helmet, so Zhuo Hang didn’t recognize him. Zhuo Hang lunged forward with a clean, merciless punch toward Gu Fan.

Gu Fan had no choice but to fight back instinctively. He refused to simply absorb Zhuo Hang’s blow. He countered, firmly catching Zhuo Hang’s punch and forcefully slowing Zhuo Hang’s momentum, bringing him to a halt.

In that instant, Gu Fan realized his mistake. He quickly leapt backward, pretending he had been struck and sent flying, colliding into the crowd behind him, scattering people and drawing screams of pain.

Zhuo Hang was momentarily stunned. The man had clearly caught his punch solidly, yet suddenly seemed to be knocked away—something didn’t add up.

Zhuo Hang didn’t dwell on it; he wanted to get out of there quickly.

But just then, Gu Fan grabbed Zhuo Hang from behind, jerking him hard enough to disrupt his balance and send him sprawling to the ground.

Seizing the moment, Gu Fan pounced on Zhuo Hang, preventing him from rising quickly.

Seeing this, others rushed forward, piling onto Zhuo Hang one after another like a human pyramid, pinning him completely beneath the growing heap.

Gu Fan and Zhuo Hang were crushed at the bottom, suffocating, while those beneath them groaned from the unbearable weight.

Amid the cacophony of struggle and shouting, Gu Fan and Zhuo Hang found a brief window to exchange words. With a burst of strength, they pushed off those piled atop them, sending bodies flying in every direction.

The narrow corridor descended further into chaos as a flood of thirty-some bodies collided, making the situation utterly unmanageable.

Even those standing aside couldn’t escape unscathed—they too were toppled by the flying bodies, struggling miserably on the ground.

No one remained upright in the surrounding area. Dazed and groaning, they lay on the floor, unable to make sense of where Zhuo Hang or any of their targets had gone.

After some time, they slowly got to their feet, aching all over. Abandoning equipment and helmets scattered everywhere, they helped one another out—and among them were Gu Fan and Zhuo Hang.

Instead of slipping away during the commotion, Gu Fan and Zhuo Hang lay on the ground pretending to be injured like everyone else. Zhuo Hang even picked up a helmet and wore it, effectively concealing his identity.

The previous altercation had damaged the surveillance cameras, as people were flung into them during the chaos. The situation grew so out of control that Ning Qi, who was in charge, couldn’t pinpoint Zhuo Hang’s whereabouts. Reverting to nearby cameras, Ning Qi was instantly enraged.

Because those who feared Zhuo Hang had fled, many had scattered. And with Zhuo Hang now wearing the same uniform as X Legion members, along with a helmet obscuring him further, it was impossible to distinguish him from deserters.

"A bunch of useless fools! Ruining everything!" Ning Qi fumed. Originally intending to capture Zhuo Hang, she was now instead seeing him exploit the chaos to evade detection.

The situation had deteriorated drastically. Ning Qi worried that if Gu Fan and Zhuo Hang joined forces, they wouldn’t just storm the Demon Refining Island Base—they might destroy *that place* too.

She swiftly issued new orders: increase patrols at the exits and secure the core zones tightly.

"This is my territory. I absolutely won’t allow you to run rampant here—not even you, Gu Fan. Your time is long past; this is no longer your era," Ning Qi muttered darkly, determined to teach the intruders a painful lesson.
