Thousands of Brilliant Stars: You Deserve the Best!-Chapter 165: Iris Crawford Is Here, Iris Crawford Is Here!
Lachlan Wyatt watched as Leo Langdon followed him out without hesitation. He felt a bit moved. This assistant who had been by his side for so many years, always following rules, never expected that he would choose to abandon such a bright future for him...
Holding Felix Crawford close to his chest, Lachlan Wyatt said, "Don’t regret quitting such a good position."
Leo Langdon waved his hand and said, "Wherever you are, there’s a chance to rise again. The best future for me is you."
This young guy has quite an eye for things.
However, Lachlan Wyatt said, "You’re thinking too much. I’m broke now, kicked out by the company, and soon my son and I will be performing on the streets."
Leo Langdon opened the car door and bent over to Lachlan Wyatt, "Let me give you one last ride. Whenever you need me, just call, President Wyatt."
The car stopped in front of the villa where Lachlan and Iris Crawford used to live. The house was still under Iris Crawford’s name. Lachlan entered with familiarity, and Felix Crawford curiously glanced around, "This house looks like it should belong to a woman."
"You’re quite observant."
"Most of the shoes in the entryway shoe cabinet are women’s shoes." Felix Crawford spoke with maturity not typical for a child, "I observed, although the sizes vary, they are all women’s styles. Only the few pairs outside are men’s shoes, which means they are yours."
"The remaining women’s shoes probably belonged to my mom before she left them here, right?" With innocent laughter, Felix Crawford folded his arms, "The reason for different women’s shoe sizes is because this villa has been around for a while. My mom once gained weight due to hormones, leading to buying bigger shoes. Then she lost weight and moved back for a stint, so the shoe sizes decreased. That’s why even though they’re all women’s shoes, the sizes are different."
Lachlan was a bit taken aback, listening to his son’s seamless deduction, he suddenly felt like he hadn’t just given birth to a son, but a computing machine!
He held Felix’s hand, and Felix didn’t resist, "Did my mom live here with you before?"
"Yeah, we lived together for a while."
Lachlan lowered his head, "But then we fell out, and she moved out. I’ve been living here alone ever since."
"You should have been paying rent. My mom is really kind-hearted," Felix said playfully, "Renting this big villa must cost a lot each month! You’ve been living here for free, like it’s your own home."
Lachlan went ahead to run the bathwater while patting Felix’s head, "Yeah, now I’m homeless. Do you think your mom would take me in?"
"Hard to say."
Felix stroked his chin mysteriously, "My mom can hold a grudge and would probably enjoy seeing you wandering homeless."
"..." Lachlan felt an arrow had hit his chest.
His own son’s words were too piercing!
But they hadn’t had the chance to enjoy some long-overdue father-son time when sounds came from downstairs. Lachlan looked down to find Hugh Wyatt’s bodyguards had followed them, tracking their car all the way here!
"We’ve been found!"
The bodyguards, holding walkie-talkies, seemed to be reporting to someone not present, presumably acting on Hugh Wyatt’s orders. Clearly, Hugh was not willing to let go of someone who defied his authority!
Lachlan, quick on his feet, realized they were after Felix, so he scooped Felix up from the floor, "Hold on tight!"
He leaped from the second-floor staircase, surprising the bodyguards ascending the stairs. Could Young Master Wyatt really be this agile?
Lachlan balanced himself with one hand, crossed his legs over the railing, and then flipped down, landing by the large French windows on the first floor, swapping positions with the bodyguards who were now on the stairs, while Lachlan stood by the door, "You have some nerve breaking and entering!"
Even Felix was shocked by Lachlan’s action-movie-like movements, clinging tightly to Lachlan’s neck, not daring to let go, "What are you going to do!"
"Young Master, we don’t wish to hurt you. Hand over the child to us," the bodyguards tried to negotiate, knowing they couldn’t handle Lachlan by force, "Mr. Wyatt says we can keep the child, but he must be raised quietly by the Wyatt Family until he is an adult at eighteen!"
That’s no different from a prison!
Hugh Wyatt only ever claimed power over others’ lives, never respecting the other party!
"I will not send my son to a place like the Wyatt Family where they chew you up and spit out the bones."
Lachlan smiled, wiping the corner of his mouth with his thumb, then clasped his hands together, readying for battle, "Didn’t we agree to sever ties? What, couldn’t stay away from me, and chased after me instead?"
His words, transmitted through the walkie-talkie, reached Hugh Wyatt’s ears at the company, where the middle-aged man erupted with anger, smashing things in his office!
"The old man says to capture you and the illegitimate child and lock you both up at the Wyatt Family until you admit your mistakes!"
"In your dreams."
Lachlan expressionlessly spat out these words.
"Young Master, forgive us!" shouted the head bodyguard, "Take them both away!"
With a single command, everyone shouted and charged toward Lachlan Wyatt!
In the crowd, Lachlan Wyatt leaped into the air. Using the wall beside him, he propelled himself off with momentum, kicking away a burly man lunging at him. Then, using that force, he pushed away an opponent attempting to grab him from behind, restraining that person with a swift over-the-shoulder throw!
The entire time, Felix Crawford was protected in Lachlan Wyatt’s chest. Felix stared in bewilderment, not yet realizing what had happened, when the sound of cars approaching rang out again from outside.
"How many people did that old man send?!"
Lachlan Wyatt clicked his tongue, realizing Hugh Wyatt was serious about taking action against him. If nothing unexpected happens, all of his accounts connected to The Wyatt Group will be frozen swiftly, leaving him unable to transfer a penny!
"Dad, watch out behind you!"
Felix Crawford screamed involuntarily, calling out ’Dad,’ causing Lachlan Wyatt to momentarily freeze.
In that brief hesitation, someone behind him raised a stick high in the air!
Lachlan Wyatt’s pupils narrowed sharply!
The next second, the sound of shattering glass accompanied a scream, with debris flying in the air. Lachlan had the sensation that his breath had been paused, as a slender figure appeared in front of him—
The figure looked delicate, but it possessed extraordinary strength. Its owner executed a powerful kick with such stability on high heels that it was applause-worthy. She directly kicked the bodyguard attempting a sneak attack in the stomach!
The person was kicked so hard that they spat out stomach acid, then fell heavily backward!
As the figure landed, her high heels planted firmly on the ground, she performed a spinning kick in midair before landing gracefully, astonishing all the bodyguards and leaving Lachlan Wyatt and Felix Crawford dumbfounded too.
What is this, a battle angel?
In a turn around, the woman brushed her hair, her bright red nails threading through her fingers. When she looked up, her stunning beauty was breathtaking. She walked toward Lachlan Wyatt in sharp heels, eyebrows furrowing and untamed, demanding, "Give me back my son!"
Felix Crawford snapped back to reality, shouting at the woman, "Mommy!"
"Fae Crawford!" Iris Crawford’s entrance was unexpected even to Lachlan Wyatt. She cast a fierce look at him, pulling Felix into her arms. After confirming Felix was unharmed, she glared at May Willows, her former ambiguous companion of five years, "Lachlan Wyatt! How dare you kidnap my son back to the country?"
In the whole world, after so many years apart, the only person daring enough to call him by his first name like this was Iris Crawford!
From heaven to earth, yet utterly fearless!
Lachlan Wyatt froze for a few seconds, seemingly mesmerized by Iris Crawford’s striking face. Then he snapped back, laughed in anger, and pulled Felix back into his arms, "He’s my son too!"
Iris Crawford yanked Felix back, "He has nothing to do with you. I gave birth to him alone. You, this scumbag, didn’t contact me for five years, and now you’re scheming to take my son away?"
Take him away?
Lachlan Wyatt almost laughed at Iris Crawford’s accusation. How could this woman still have such an egocentric disposition? He even imagined Iris Crawford going so far as to pick premium sperm from a sperm bank to conceive and raise a child alone.
After all, a woman like Iris Crawford wasn’t one to be constrained by social norms and ethics.
Encountering her abrasive tirade after five years, Lachlan Wyatt surprisingly wasn’t overly angry—instead, beneath the anger lay a surge of excitement.
It felt like something had awakened, a familiar thrill slowly returning to his body.
Narrowing his eyes, he observed Iris Crawford’s face. After five years, she hadn’t seemed to grow thinner, but maintained her taut, youthful physique, showing no signs of weakness.
Indeed, Iris Crawford was as sharp as those high heels. No matter how much time passed, once the familiar sound of high heels was heard, it was clear—she had returned amidst a storm of blood and chaos.
"Not saying anything?"
Without blinking, Iris Crawford punched a nearby closing bodyguard away, simultaneously advancing and grabbing Lachlan Wyatt by the collar, "What did you do to trick my son into leaving with you?"
Lachlan Wyatt let out a low laugh, his response evasive, "I missed you, babe."
Iris Crawford’s heart trembled, "I asked you a question!"
"He came to me by himself, to find his dad. What, doesn’t that sit well with you?" Lachlan Wyatt and Iris Crawford were like fire and water; after five years, nothing seemed to have changed. Upon seeing each other, with one on the left and the other on the right grabbing Felix’s hands, it seemed they might tear him in two, "Could you two let go first..."
Lachlan Wyatt: "You’re cruel! You stole my seed and never told me!"
Iris Crawford: "You’re useless! So what if I stole it? I can raise him alone, don’t need a scumbag dad like you! If I hadn’t saved you, you’d have almost gotten my son killed, you know that?"
Lachlan Wyatt: "I never asked for your help!"
Iris Crawford: "Do you deserve to ask me?"
Felix Crawford: "Stop arguing! Can we deal with the Wyatt Family bodyguards trying to take us away first?"
