Thousands of Brilliant Stars: You Deserve the Best!-Chapter 190: Lachlan Wyatt, Don’t You Feel Sorry?
Lachlan Wyatt always believed he was the one in control of the game. This cat-and-mouse game with Iris Crawford had lasted so long that it would never end unless he decided to call it off.
But now, with Iris standing so authentically in front of him, all her actions told him that they had long since drifted apart.
The only thing he could do was try to make amends while he hadn’t yet been away from Iris for too long.
Lachlan grabbed Iris’s hand and asked, "Does it hurt when she hits you?"
Evelyn Rowan widened her eyes in disbelief, "I only gave her a slap, but Wyatt, I sprained my ankle! How can you disregard the severity of things like this!"
In Lachlan’s eyes, it was as though Evelyn did not exist. He reached out to gently stroke Iris’s face, and unexpectedly, Iris did not resist, allowing his cold fingers to slide across her hot, swollen cheek.
She watched as the color in Lachlan’s eyes gradually deepened. She knew well that the blue pupil hidden under the other black beauty lens churned like a treacherous sea, and yet the world remained oblivious to Lachlan’s danger.
Lachlan tutted, his voice as pleasant as a priest listening to God’s prayer, yet his gaze was terrifying, "Truly damnable."
Iris laughed, "Me?"
"How could it be."
Lachlan withdrew his fingers, "The person who hit you is damnable."
"But you did the same to me back then."
Iris only sneered at this, "You and those who hit me are from the same lot, no difference."
"Then I, too, should be damned."
With a low laugh, Lachlan turned to Evelyn, who was leaning against the wall, his eyes sharp, "Why did you come to Iris’s company seeking a fight?"
"Seeking a fight?" Evelyn’s eyes reddened, "Wyatt, how can you say such hurtful things to me? I did it for you, she actually spoke ill of me... All those things from back then are true, she did them herself, how could it be me speaking ill!"
"Do you think I can’t find the evidence from five years ago, and that’s why you’re so sure of yourself?"
Iris’s expression remained unchanged, "Eldest Miss Rowan, you underestimate me and overestimate yourself. Do you really think you’re perfectly safe?"
Evelyn gritted her teeth hard, refusing to believe that Iris could uncover any trace of evidence from five years ago when she intentionally orchestrated the nude photos. At this moment, she was dead set on not admitting it, "Are you threatening me? Wyatt, listen to this, this woman has a heart of a snake and scorpion!"
"Heart of a snake and scorpion? That’s a good phrase, I take that as a compliment."
Stepping forward, Iris leaned closer to Evelyn despite half her face swollen from the slap, and directly grabbed a handful of Evelyn’s hair, pulling her face towards hers.
Evelyn had never been treated like this before.
The way Iris handled her was not something a woman would typically do.
Evelyn, in a panic, tried to struggle. As soon as her hand was raised, Iris caught it with her other free hand; Evelyn was no match for Iris!
Pulling her hair, Iris’s voice fell by Evelyn’s ear, "Best not dance in front of me again, utterly stupid, you chose the wrong opponent."
An intense feeling hit Evelyn’s heart, and she immediately pushed Iris away forcefully, shaking her head while pointing at Iris, trembling, "I’ll definitely tell my brother about this, my brother will not let you off!"
She cried as security guards surrounded her, and Iris, with a blank expression, said, "Throw her out."
"How dare you!" Evelyn screamed hysterically, but she couldn’t fight against the group of burly security guards and was humiliatingly thrown out of The Crawford Company’s gates, watched by countless onlookers the whole way!
Evelyn cried until the sky turned dark, calling her brother for help at the entrance, while Iris stood by the floor-to-ceiling window of the high-rise building watching her figure at the entrance from above, just grinning, "Wyatt, does your heart not ache?" 𝙛𝒓𝓮𝒆𝔀𝒆𝙗𝓷𝒐𝙫𝒆𝙡.𝒄𝓸𝓶
She imitated Evelyn’s way of calling Lachlan.
