"That’s good. When I leave in a month, I will take you with me." Karl made a promise that got me excited so much I almost jumped from my bed.

"Calm down.,...calm down. Don’t hurt yourself or you wouldn’t have recovered enough to leave even after a month." Karl chuckled as he got up from the bed and said goodbye before leaving.

Just as Karl left, the doctor came to check up on me. It was the same doctor who had taken care of me before, Doctor Samantha.

"Hello Val." She greeted me with a smile as soon as she walked into the room.

"Hello Doctor Sam." I smiled back even though it was painful as the drugs I had been injected with for pain were wearing off.

"How are you feeling today?" Doctor Sam asked while unwrapping my wound to examine it.

"Like crap." I replied with a small laugh.

"Someone else in your shoes would be feeling worse. So, cut yourself some slack." Doctor Sam encouraged me and I just smiled.

Of course any other person would be worse. But I appeared better only because I was used to injuries and pain. Even though this time the skull was involved, it wasn’t something new. It was a bone too.

"But you still need to rest a little longer. You have a fracture on your skull and any mishandling could cause a lot of trouble especially since you don’t have a wolf to help you heal." Doctor Sam went on telling me the precautions I should take and I just nodded through it all.

It wasn’t up to me how things went after leaving the hospital. Someone could even attack me inside the hospital, so what was there to care about?

My own mate would like to see me dead more than he wanted me alive. But that’s okay. The day I leave the pack, is the day my plot for revenge will begin.

I will not only prove my father’s innocence, but also take revenge for all the suffering I have suffered over the years.

After the doctor left, I was left alone to rot in my boredom. Lucky for me, Anita seemed to really want to make friends with me because she showed up again.

Not only that, she brought me my laptop.

"How did you get my laptop?" I remember that I had left it charging in my damp room before I was sent to the hospital by Mike. So, what was it doing in Anita’s hands?

"Oh, Alpha Mike asked me to get it for you so that you won’t be too bored." Anita replied with a blushing smile.

"What? He sends me to the theater directly and now starts acting like he is concerned? What’s all that about?" I couldn’t believe it. Mike has always treated me like a plague or something and only took pleasure in torturing me. How come he was different today? Did something I wasn’t aware of happen? I wondered to myself.

"You don’t know. When the old Alpha, Mike’s father, Alpha Demon found out that Mike had found his mate and refused to acknowledge her, he summoned him to his office and gave him a beating. He ordered Mike to make you his Luna and demote Innocent. I honestly don’t know what’s going on, but that’s what I heard." Anita’s statement almost made me choke on air.

The proud and ruthless Alpha Demon actually forced his son to accept a mate? What is that?

"Does Alpha Demon know that I am Mike’s mate? If he knew, I don’t think he would insist on urging Mike to make me Luna." I argued depending on how the old alpha has treated me over the years.

"That’s what surprised everyone in the pack. When Mike refused and said that he didn’t want a slave as a mate..." Anita suddenly stopped talking and eyed me with caution as if afraid I would get angry.

"Go on. Don’t worry, I am already used to that title anyway." I didn’t mind being called a slave. After all, that doesn’t really define who I am.

"Well, Alpha Mike said he didn’t want a slave as a mate and Alpha Demon beat him even more, telling him that the moon goddess never makes mistakes and if he wanted our Night claw pack to prosper, he had to make you the Luna." Anita continued to explain animatedly, nearly making me smile through the confusion.

I couldn’t understand what Alpha Demon was up to. He has always treated me just as bad as everyone else. He has sent me to the dungeon more than once for trivial mistakes that didn’t even need punishment.

So, what was he playing at? What was his angle? What benefits would he get from having me become his son’s mate even going as far as beating up his own son?

I could smell a conspiracy from miles away and I was at the center of it all.

Now more than ever, I wanted to leave the pack even more. I don’t want to be caught in the web of whatever the alpha of the pack or the leadership were cooking.

However, for the time I am in the pack, I will take full advantage of everything they have to offer. If the title of Luna gives me more freedom, then I will take it and make it my weapon.

"And did Mike agree?" I couldn’t help but ask. Because even though I wanted nothing to do with that man, my body still betrayed me whenever he got close.

My heart would beat faster and my skin would become super sensitive.

Just getting close made me want to melt in his arms. I didn’t even want to know what would happen if he touched me.

The only kind of touch I have experienced with Mike was a beating and after becoming my mate, the pain I experience has more than doubled.

But I could only keep it to myself. Now, I will take my freedom for a few days before I leave the pack as payment.
