Time Travel: The Noble Family-Chapter 1365 - 558: Ominous Signs
August 15th, the Mid-Autumn Festival, a day for family reunion.
An Zhichen spent Mid-Autumn Festival at the manor with Yueyao and the children, while Mr. Yu Shan had already been taken home by his family.
The table set up in the courtyard was filled with all kinds of food. Kexin held a beautiful lantern in her hand.
The family happily celebrated a harmonious Mid-Autumn Festival together. When it was time to retire for the night, An Zhichen said guiltily, "This is the first Mid-Autumn Festival I’ve spent with you all."
Yueyao could see that the four children were particularly joyful, which lifted her spirits as well. "From now on, you’ll always spend Mid-Autumn with us." 𝙛𝒓𝒆𝙚𝒘𝒆𝓫𝙣𝓸𝙫𝓮𝒍.𝒄𝒐𝓶
An Zhichen nodded, "I’ll always be with you."
Yueyao, keenly observant, could tell that something seemed to be bothering An Zhichen. However, since he didn’t mention anything, she refrained from asking. Once An Zhichen left, Yueyao asked Xiang Wei, "Heyue seems troubled. Is there unrest in the Imperial Court again?" The Crown Prince has been set, but the Seventh Prince is still restless, refusing to give up, which means recent times have been turbulent in the Imperial Court.
Xiang Wei’s heart skipped a beat, but she managed her composure well, not allowing Yueyao to notice anything amiss. "Yes, the Seventh Prince is constantly up to tricks, while the Earl oversees the Imperial Guards, naturally making him their primary target to win over." Xiang Wei implied that An Zhichen was having difficult days.
Yueyao frowned slightly. This Seventh Prince is surely frustrating. Even though the Crown Prince has been established, could he possibly unseat the Crown Prince and take power himself? Alas, these power struggles never cease, inevitably pulling in those below them. After contemplating for a moment, Yueyao said, "We’ll return in a few days."
Xiang Wei said, "It’s fine to return, but you must finish what you have at hand first." Yueyao still had a painting unfinished, and according to Xiang Wei’s estimation, it would take five to six days at least to complete.
However, unexpectedly, Yueyao had another nightmare that night, akin to the last one, dreaming of her own suicide.
Since her dream about An Zhichen being harmed came true, Yueyao began to believe that her dreams could predict fortunes and misfortunes. Upon waking, Yueyao couldn’t remain calm, regardless of everyone else still sleeping. She immediately ordered the packing of belongings and set off for Capital City with the four children at the crack of dawn.
Kexin remained groggy until they boarded the carriage, "Mom, didn’t we say we’d return to Capital City in a few days? Why are we leaving today?"
Yueyao gently replied, "Mom has something to attend to in Capital City. Are you sleepy? If you’re tired, just sleep!" Packing in the middle of the night caused all the children to lose sleep.
Kexin leaned against Yueyao’s chest, squinting her eyes, soon falling asleep.
Yueyao looked at Xiang Wei and asked, "Where are Brother Shengsheng and the others?" The three children had learned to ride horses at the manor and now refused to stay in the carriage for the journey back to Capital City, insisting on riding horses. Yueyao was an easy-going mother; seeing her sons’ persistence, she acquiesced but directed the guards to watch them carefully.
Recalling that An Zhichen had just mentioned Zhou Shu might be arriving in Capital City, Xiang Wei realized Yueyao had yet another foreboding nightmare. Her mistress truly possessed a knack for foreseeing ominous signs!
Upon receiving news that Yueyao had returned, An Zhichen was startled and hurried home. It wasn’t until he saw Yueyao in good spirits that he felt relieved, asking, "What happened?" Normally, Yueyao wouldn’t bring the children back so hastily without good reason.
Yueyao dismissed everyone, then spoke with An Zhichen, "I had another nightmare last night, dreaming of my own suicide." If her previous dream of suicide tied to past life experiences could be attributed to shadows of that life, this dream arose inexplicably, leaving Yueyao uneasy.
An Zhichen’s hand trembled slightly; Yueyao’s dreams were eerily strange, often manifesting in reality. Nonetheless, recalling past successes in averting disasters, An Zhichen hoped that Yueyao would also emerge unscathed, "It’s fine, we just need to stay vigilant."
Yueyao clutched An Zhichen’s hand and said, "Heyue, I believe Zhou Shu must have returned." Beyond this possibility, Yueyao couldn’t conceive what else could drive her to such desperation.
At this point, An Zhichen refrained from concealing the truth, "I received word over a month ago that Zhou Shu has returned to Haikou. Now it appears he’s in Capital City." Even if not yet there, Zhou Shu is surely on his way. If Zhou Shu dares come to Capital City, failing to capture and punish him would make An Zhichen feel utterly disgraceful.
Yueyao’s face turned as pale as paper, "He’s back, truly back?" Why won’t he leave her alone? Zhou Shu had already ruined her past life; does he intend to destroy this one too? What enmity binds her and Zhou Shu?
