Timeless Hunter: Blood Of Old-Chapter 16: Trapped
His legs ballooned up, he kicked the ground sending mud through the air. The wolf alpha covered it paws in shadows.
They lunged at each other, their bodies turned into blurs. The rain was split apart by his speed.
Clang, sparks flew but this time he was not pushed back, the wolf alpha jumped to his left and tried to bite him.
He spun and kicked with his right leg, blood spurted out of that leg but he did not care, it was either he mutilate himself or they mutilate him.
His foot split the rain apart as if flew at the wolf’s head like a bat, the alpha jumped back to dodge and ran around trying to attack from his back.
Instead of chasing it he lunged at the closest wolf to him, time seemed to slow down as the rain fell slowly around him.
The wolf tried to bite him, his katana drew a blue arc through the rain and it massive head fell off.
( Killed shadow wolf level 8, experience gained. Player has reached level 9, +1 free stat.) He ignored the notification.
He kicked off it corpse and pounced on another but the alpha got there first, it claws met his sword creating sparks.
" Roaaaar." He roared so loud his voice turned hoarse, the two of them moved so fast everything else seemed to be in slow motion.
They turned into shadows that created sparks everytime they clashed. However he knew better than anybody his situation was not great.
Everytime he moved, everytime he attacked and evertime they clashed, his veins busted open, his chest felt like it was on fire as his lungs and heart worked overtime.
He was destroying his own body to keep up with the alphas movements and he was still struggling.
Because the truth was, he was only fast enough to react and block but it was still faster than he was when using it skill.
At the very least he was now slightly faster than the other wolves. He twisted his body to dodge it claw swipe.
Then stabbed from behind catching it off guard, it was able to react but he still managed to draw blood.
It growled it rage, the shadows on it legs grew deeper. He felt a sense of dread overcome.
He now realised the wolf was still holding back. Just as it was about to attack he caught the shadow of a red figure at the corner of his eyes.
He immediately crouched and a red spike flew above his head and shattered a tree behind him.
He turned around and ran, the wolves chased after him, he knew outrunning them on the mud would be hard especially the alpha.
He kicked off the trunk of a tree cracking it and jumped into the branches of the next and did not stop. 𝙛𝒓𝒆𝙚𝒘𝒆𝓫𝙣𝓸𝙫𝓮𝒍.𝒄𝒐𝓶
His body blurred past the tree branches like a shadow. While running was keeping an eye on the scorpion.
After being chased by it for so long he had figured out it weakness if it can even be called that. It took it two seconds to load another spike.
In that two seconds window it won’t be able to attack in long range. Using that he could calculate when to dodge.
It was a risky move but the best he could come up with under these circumstances. The wolves stopped chasing after him and faced the scorpion.
That thing was not one for teamwork, it had killed a wolf while attacking him but to be fair the wolf jumped on the path of it attacks.
They turned to take care of it first, wolves to begin with didn’t like sharing their prey with others outside their pack.
Except a few animals they work with. Seeing he was no longer being chased he did not stop.
He continued infusing mana into his legs even though it was destroying him. He saw the end of the forest.
He kicked off the tree and jumped, bang. He hit an invisible barrier and fell down. He stood up confused and touched the air.
His hand came into contact with a physical barrier but it was invisible. He patted the barrier panicking.
" No no no no, this can’t be happening." The only reason he even ran this way was because he wanted to leave the danger zone.
" System why can’t I leave, you said humans can live?" He shouted, he was so angry he even forgot to keep his voice down.
( Answer unknown.) The systems reply angered him even more. He clicked his tongue.
" Useless." He ran back into the forest but circled around where he fought those monsters.
A few minutes after he left the scorpion got there, there were three minor scratch lines on it red shell, obviously from the wolf but that was it.
It antennas vibrated then it turned and ran in the direction he went on. A few more minutes later the wolf alpha showed up with a bleeding leg.
Following it were only 4 wolves, it pack was almost done for. It hatred for both Akaris and the scorpion drove it insane.
The only thing on it mind was to rip out their entrails and devour them while they were still alive.
It sniffed the ground then followed them. Akaris ran through the forest as fast as he could leaving a trail of blood behind.
His eyes suddenly turned blurry, he had lost too much blood and it was catching up to him.
Knowing he couldn’t fall here or he would die he ran even faster. Eventually he ran back to the city.
He looked around then went into the tallest building, it was the most quiet one. The first floor was empty which was strange.
He ran to the elevator and was surprised that it still worked considering the power source of this building was obviously compromised.
Cut electric lines were hanging off the roof, the light bulb kept flickering on and off. The building gave him a chilling feeling.
He closed the elevator and pressed the button to the top floor, the penthouse to be exact.
However he needed a key to go to the penthouse, he tried injecting mana into the key hole, he didn’t know if that would work.
The elevator took off, perhaps it was because of the current state of the building or mana was just too impressive, he leaned against the wall and closed his eyes.
The moment he relax all the mana infused into his body dispersed into the air. His body could no longer hold on.
His veins busted open spilling his blood into the elevator floor. The last thing he felt was a wave of pain.
Unbeknownst to him, the moment the elevator took off, hundreds of tiny red eyes appeared followed by squeaking noises.
The squeaks vibrated across the entire building, more followed on every floor of the building.
Akaris didn’t know but he had saved himself a lot of trouble by using the elevator.
