Chapter 23: Chapter 23: Swordplay

Akaris understood that what made these three so dangerous was not their physical stats but their high spirit and will.

Like him they can use mana to enhance their bodies which meant using their stats to measure their strength is pointless.

Not to mention they had skills too, he couldn’t see what of skills they had with his inspect but knew they had them.

He used future sight and saw his mana arrow being blocked by the shield Kobold so he didn’t shoot it.

He jumped onto another tree dodging an arrow then used future sight again, his mana arrow was going to be blocked again.

However he saw also saw that an arrow would pierce his chest so he kicked off a branch and came to a stop.

Then he changed target, the archer shot it mana infused arrow and he shot his targeting the archer.

It arrow shot where he would’ve been a second later as he had seen with future sight.

His move caught all three of them off guard, the arrow was moving too fast for the archer to dodge.

He managed to strengthen his body with mana and tried to dodge, it pierced through his shoulder instead of chest.

Blood poured out, the force sent his crashing through the tree behind him. Akaris turned his attention to the other two.

The shield wielding kobold moved to defend the archer while the sword knight ran at him like the wind.

It sword shone with purple light, it seemed their mana was purple and not blue like his, when it was only 10 metres away he attacked.

His arrow shot towards the sword kobold but it tilted it body to the side and dodged the arrow.

Before he could react it was also 4 metres away from him then it swung it sword. He wondered what it was thinking.

He was standing on top of a tree while it was on the ground, it sword would not reach him at all.

Then a crescent purple mana shot out like an extension of the sword itself. Akaris was caught by surprise but still managed to dodge.

His arrow formed just then, he fired it at the sword kobold forcing him to dodge, his reflexes were insane.

Being able to dodge something moving at the speed of sound was incomprehensible to him.

What he didn’t know was how much pressure it was putting it body under trying to dodge his arrows.

It was experiencing the same thing he was when he was facing the wolf alpha, by overloading it body with mana to make itself stronger.

It chased after him on the ground while he was jumping from tree to tree dodging it mana slashes.

The trees around him were cut down one after another. Akaris did not panic, he was waiting for it to run out of mana.

Occasionally he would turn his attention towards the other two but the archer was greatly wounded.

His arrow pierced right through it left shoulder leaving a gaping hole the size of a fist, it couldn’t even lift it arm if it tried. 𝐟𝚛𝕖𝚎𝕨𝗲𝐛𝚗𝐨𝐯𝐞𝕝.𝐜𝗼𝗺

The other one didn’t seem to be able to attack, it ability was forcused solely on defense.

Meaning the only problem was the sword bastard. He turned and faced him but continued retreating by jumping backwards.

’ Anima makes this look easy.’ he complained, jumping backwards was harder than it looked on TV.

He almost tripped and fell, he accidentally released his arrow and destroyed a tree behind the Kobold.

The kobold seemed to be quite a skilled fighter, it took that advantage to attack him.

It would over a second for his mana arrow to form but the kobold was only 7 metres away from him.

With it speed it can reach him much faster than that. He dropped the bow and pulled out his katana.

Blue mana coated it then he infused mana into his arms. The Kobold reached him and swung it sword for his neck.

He raised his katana to block, sparks flew and the sound of clashing steel echoed through the forest.

Akaris was forced to take a step back, the Kobold swung it sword from below, he tried to deflect but it changed the trajectory to the left catching him off guard.

Before he could adjust his stance it cut towards his ribs, it purple glowing sword drawing an arch through the air.

Akaris gritted his teeth and jumped back but he hadn’t strengthened his legs with mana which was a mistake.

The sword still managed to graze him, his blood flew and a wave of pain made him grit his teeth.

He immediately infused his legs with mana making himself faster, their battle continued moving dozens of metres away from their initial position.

However Akaris was forced to admit that he was outclassed in swordsmanship. His body was covered by scratches.

The kobold stabbed, he deflected it sword then it changed trajectory and went for his neck instead.

He had seen this trick multiple times, fell for it a few times, it was a really sinister move but it was effective.

However he wasn’t going to fall for it again, he leaned back to dodge, just as the sword was about to miss.

The mana around it extended out, the tip of the sword grew by a few centimetres, it drew a scratch on his neck.

Akaris felt his heart being grasped by fear and he jumped back, kicking the ground so hard it cracked.

His body blurred 4 metres back and he grabbed his neck. His hand was stained red by his own blood.

Fortunately it was only a scratch but it was too close. The wound stopped bleeding a few seconds later.

He stood facing the kobold with neither of them moving. Akaris took a deep breath, he was about to try a new method.

He didn’t know if it would work but without it he couldn’t beat this thing. Admittedly it was a much better swordman than he was.
