Timeless Hunter: Blood Of Old-Chapter 5: One against All
He looked on both sides of the passage, on the left there were three and 9 on the right which made sense.
The left was where the passage ended and the stairs leading downstairs were. He nocked an arrow then took a deep breath.
He appeared around the corner and shot an arrow straight through an imp’s head. It died immediately.
The other two screamed loudly alerting the rest of them, he held three arrows in his hand to reduce draw time.
He nocked the second arrow and shot down another imp. The last one on the left ran at him.
He turned and shot an arrow killing the imp closest from the right. Then dodged to the side and stabbed the last arrow through the last imp on the left.
He retreated dodging it arm swings before kicking it down the stairs. He leaned his back against the wall.
All of this happened in about 3 seconds but the other imps were already very close, he was pushing his body to the limit. He placed his quiver on the floor.
Then started firing, they were fast but his perception was faster. He could clearly follow their movements.
Each arrow met it mark, he could hear his own heartbeat. He shot arrow after arrow while some didn’t die from the first.
They still slowed down, then he heard footsteps from below. He looked down the stairs and saw more imps.
They must’ve heard the noise and ran up here. He shot an arrow killing the leading imp.
It body fell back delaying the others for a second but that second mattered. In that moment another imp had reached him.
He still had seven imps to kill and now he was forced to face more from below. He started regretting his decision.
He ducked to the side dodging the attack of the imp. It claws drew a gash on the wall behind him.
He stabbed the arrow through it head, pulled it out and shot it at another imp hitting it straight through the holes where it nose is meant to be.
The imp screamed once then dropped dead, ’ Five more.’ He held three arrows in his hand.
It was harder to aim and shoot his arrows this way but it did reduce the time he needed drawing arrows from the quiver.
He shot the other two arrows, one hit the shoulder of an imp causing it to fall, the other imp dodged to the side causing him to miss.
’ Shit.’ that imp reached him, forcing him to grab the axe next to him and use it block it attack.
The attack pressed him against the wall and he felt a metallic taste in his mouth. He managed to deflect the arm with difficulty.
Then he cut the axe deep into it neck, using it body he threw it at the imps coming up the stairs forcing them to fall back once more.
The remaining four imps in the passage were all wounded. Each with an arrow stuck somewhere in it body.
However they were still faster and his arms were burning up. He could barely hold the axe let alone pull a bow string.
However he still grabbed his bow, pulled out an arrow from the closest corpse and shot it. This time he did not miss.
He nocked another arrow and fired again, each arrow whistled as it cut through the air. The imps stood no chance against them.
He shot an arrow through the head and heart killing them with a single shot. In only a few moves he killed all of the imps in the tunnel.
Then he looked at those climbing the stairs the moment his eye met their eyes they paused.
Their eyes flickered with fear, he had subconsciously use the aura of dread making them fear him.
That pause gave him time to shoot more arrows killing more of them in seconds. They snapped out of it and ran towards him again.
He realised there were even more than the ones on the passage. His eyes grew cold but his arms were shaking.
Yet he stood Infront of the imps like a lone knight. Firing his arrows until he realised he had ran out of arrows.
He grabbed the axe and welcomed them, the imps were stronger and faster but no different from babies with too much power.
They just swung their arms around hoping for the best. He watched them move in slow motion.
Even without future sight he could easily predict their movements and he moved appropriately.
He swung his axe from below cutting off the arm on the leading imp. The stairs were narrow making it hard for them to attack at once.
He was only facing two imps at a time, he slashed he hacked and kicked. His entire body was sore yet he fought.
Blood painted the walls red. His entire body was covered in imp blood. He had killed so many he didn’t even know how many.
( Skill gained- Axemanship) He ignored the notification. His moves became more and more precise.
Less and less movement were wasted. He swung his axe taking off the head of an imp then kicked it body down the stairs.
He looked down and realised they were hesitating, then one roared and attacked again.
He dodged it claws but it still managed to slash his leg. He kicked it with the wounded leg causing it to bleed even more. 𝕗𝚛𝚎𝚎𝐰𝗲𝗯𝗻𝚘𝚟𝚎𝗹.𝕔𝐨𝕞
Then he cut off it head, he twisted his legs as if he was dancing dodging another. Before he could attack his arm was cut open.
There were too many of them, they were climbing each other to attack at the same time.
Even with his higher perception, his body still found it hard to keep up. He was covered in blood and some his own.
His high vitality still kept him going but at this rate he would die. He realised he placed too much confidence in himself.
He should’ve hunted them in smaller groups. ( Player has reached level 7, +1 free stats.)
He immediately put that free stat into agility. While the difference was not huge, it was noticeable.
He realised there was more power in a single stat than he expected.
