Tiny Genius Alert! Mom & Dad Better Make Peace-Chapter 350 - 337: I Didn’t Sneak Out
"You tolerate now, and eventually you might abandon your dignity and self-respect. Tell me, how could I possibly allow that?!" Mu Qinnian’s voice was cold, yet every word was precise.
Jin Jumo’s eyes slowly welled up with redness, her throat moved lightly, yet she couldn’t retort a single word.
Because she herself felt that, in her current state, as long as she could stay by Rong Mochen’s side, she could truly abandon her self-respect! She was already so dependent on him!
Jin Jumo’s heart suddenly began to throb with a fine, dense pain. The fear of the unknown exploded in her mind for a split second, and then tangled into a web of confusion that couldn’t be unraveled in another instant.
Mu Qinnian gazed at Jin Jumo’s long lashes trembling lightly, sighed softly in his heart, and reached out to pull Jin Jumo to his side, the two siblings leaning together at the windowsill.
Jin Jumo’s hands unconsciously clenched, her delicate face showing an abnormal whiteness as she looked at Mu Qinnian, her voice weak, "Brother, I can’t argue against what you said. After all, the future is beyond my control.
But right now, I know very clearly what I want. Maybe the future won’t be as beautiful as I hope, but if I just give up out of fear, avoiding what might only cause harm, then I wouldn’t even have a chance at one-tenth of happiness."
Mu Qinnian’s pupils narrowed deeply, as he stared at Jin Jumo for quite a while before speaking, "I know you’re a girl with opinions, strong-minded and independent. You’re strong but also stubborn. What you set your mind on, you won’t give up just because of a few words from others.
So, even though I initially planned to bring you back to Country C, under my protection, after spending time with you, I’ve realized you’re not someone who can be easily controlled. Therefore, I won’t force you to return with me to Country C, but the doors to Country C and the Mu Family will always be open for you."
Jin Jumo’s eyes felt warm, her voice suddenly hoarse, "Brother, thank you."
"Come here." Mu Qinnian opened his arms.
Jin Jumo stood up and nestled into his wide, warm embrace, speaking in a muffled voice, "I will definitely be happy."
Mu Qinnian squinted his eyes, gently stroking her long hair with his large hand, after a while, "Mmm."
Leaving the study and returning to the bedroom, it was already early morning, Jin Jumo’s eyes still slightly reddish.
Sitting on the edge of the bed, Jin Jumo’s gaze turned towards the phone placed on the bedside table.
She had gone out not to secretly run to Rong Mochen, but to retrieve the phone Mu Qinnian had left in the car.
Jin Jumo wasn’t oblivious; because of her, Mu Qinnian harbored grievances against Rong Mochen, and the Rong Family, her being with Rong Mochen faced opposition not only from the Rong Family, but Mu Qinnian also seemed to disapprove.
Mu Qinnian held enormous power in Country C, a nation of its own laws and regulations. She had looked up the Mu Family’s status in Country C online.
Although information available on Baidu about the Mu Family was scarce, the few details obtained were astonishing.
The Mu Family wasn’t just the first family of Country C; their new generation heir had a deep friendship with the current President of Country C. How deep, specifically, wasn’t detailed online.
These facts, along with how Mu Qinnian usually carried himself, showed that someone of his stature wouldn’t tolerate disobedience!
So Jin Jumo was acutely aware that if she really sneaked out tonight to the hospital, it would completely anger Mu Qinnian. Hence, she couldn’t do that!
Jin Jumo slowly lay back on the bed, her almond-shaped eyes staring blankly at the ceiling.
The phone vibrated continuously for several seconds before Jin Jumo reacted.
Sitting up from the bed, Jin Jumo slightly calmed herself, picked up the phone, glanced at it, and answered.
"Are you asleep?"
A man’s deep, mellow voice, mixed with a hint of a smoky rasp, came from the other end of the phone.
It was clearly a voice just after smoking.
Jin Jumo picked at the denim on her knee with one hand, "Not yet. How’s Grandpa Rong now? Has he woken up?"
"He’s asleep. He should wake up by tomorrow morning," Rong Mochen said.
"Oh."
Jin Jumo paused, then asked, "Are you coming back tonight, or staying at the hospital to take care of Grandpa Rong?"
Rong Mochen was silent for a while.
Jin Jumo frowned, "Rong Mochen."
"Hmm?" Rong Mochen responded softly.
"Did you hear what I said?"
"Mm." Rong Mochen added, "I’ll stay at the hospital tonight."
"That’s the right thing to do." Jin Jumo said.
"It’s not your concern." Rong Mochen suddenly replied.
Jin Jumo was startled.
"Grandpa is old, has high blood pressure, he becomes excited or too happy and it results in this," Rong Mochen calmly explained.
"Uh..." Jin Jumo’s nose felt a little sore, not wanting him to talk about this.
"Little Mo."
"Hmm?"
"Rest early."
"Mm," Jin Jumo softly responded.
After ending the call, Jin Jumo turned her body to lie on the bed, holding the phone to her chest. The web of entanglements in her mind suddenly began to unravel, disperse, and she felt a sudden clarity.
With someone like him, what reason did she have not to trust, what reason did she have to give up?
Jin Jumo closed her eyes, a gentle smile tugged at her lips as she held the phone and drifted into sleep.
Early the next morning, before six, Jin Jumo’s phone rang.
Half-asleep, Jin Jumo picked up the phone and placed it by her ear, though her mind and eyes were still heavy with sleep.
"Momo, it’s me, Grandpa." Rong Zhengfeng’s uncontrolled panting came through the phone, filled with excitement.
Jin Jumo’s eyes rolled beneath her eyelids, then suddenly opened wide and she sat up in bed, "Grandpa Rong, you’re awake."
"I, I, I’m on my way over now. Mo Chen, Mo Chen insisted that I say something to you." Despite his efforts to restrain it, Rong Zhengfeng’s voice was still trembling.
On his way over?!
Jin Jumo suddenly gripped her phone tightly.
After finishing the call with Rong Zhengfeng, Jin Jumo sat dazed on her bed for a while before quickly getting up to wash and dress.
Half an hour later, Rong Mochen, Rong Sinan, Rong Zhengfeng, and Li Li arrived at the villa.
Jin Jumo heard the commotion downstairs and hurried out of her bedroom.
At the same time, Mu Qinnian also emerged from his bedroom.
"Brother." Jin Jumo looked at Mu Qinnian’s slightly grumpy face and called softly.
"Mm." Mu Qinnian responded, hands in the pockets of his lounge pants, and slowly walked downstairs.
Jin Jumo glanced downstairs and saw Rong Zhengfeng anxiously looking at her from the living room, his aged face faintly trembling.
"Mr. Rong, as much as I personally enjoy hospitality, an early morning visit before the sky is fully bright seems a little inappropriate, don’t you think?" Mu Qinnian coldly glanced over Rong Mochen and Rong Sinan, finally giving Rong Zhengfeng an ambiguous look.
Rong Zhengfeng, having only just woken up, was mentally weary. The once sharp and shrewd eyes were now filled with urgency, barely suppressing his melancholy when he looked at Mu Qinnian, "I apologize for my impulsiveness, please don’t take offense."
Mu Qinnian squinted slightly, saying, "Please have a seat, Mr. Rong."
"I won’t sit."
Leaning on his cane, Rong Zhengfeng shuffled towards Jin Jumo, who came down from upstairs, "Momo, Momo, I, I..."
Seeing Rong Zhengfeng’s bloodshot eyes, Jin Jumo couldn’t bear it. She gently supported his arm, "Grandpa Rong, Xixi and Hanhan are heavy sleepers. It’s still too early, they might not wake up easily. Could you wait a little longer?"
Rong Zhengfeng quickly nodded, wiping his eyes with his hand. Looking at Jin Jumo, there wasn’t a trace of the previous arrogance, just a pitiful elder eager to see his great-grandchildren.
Jin Jumo felt a sharp pang in her heart, "Grandpa Rong, let me help you to the sofa."
Rong Zhengfeng nodded, but as Jin Jumo led him to the sofa, he kept looking back towards upstairs, making Jin Jumo’s heartache all the more poignant.
Jin Jumo pursed her lips, saying, "I’ll wake the two children now, and they can sleep some more later."
"No, no, let them sleep a bit longer. I can wait, I’ll wait." Rong Zhengfeng hurriedly said.
Jin Jumo frowned, instinctively looking towards Rong Mochen.
As soon as Rong Mochen’s indifferent black eyes met Jin Jumo’s gaze, a warmth flickered through them. He stepped forward to hold Rong Zhengfeng’s arm.
But in the next second, Rong Zhengfeng shook him off angrily.
Jin Jumo, "Uh..."
Rong Mochen’s eyebrows slightly furrowed, his black eyes silently locked on Rong Zhengfeng’s angry face.
Rong Zhengfeng pursed his lips tightly, glaring fiercely at Rong Mochen, "Don’t touch me, I have nothing to do with you!"
Jin Jumo’s brow twitched, guessing Rong Zhengfeng was upset with Rong Mochen for hiding Xixi and Hanhan from him. She bit her lower lip gently and looked at Tan Yu, who was standing to the side looking a bit lost, "Aunt Tan, nobody’s had breakfast yet, please prepare a bit more."
"Okay."
Tan Yu nodded and quickly walked towards the kitchen.
"Grandpa Rong, please sit." Jin Jumo said to Rong Zhengfeng.
Rong Zhengfeng nodded, even giving Jin Jumo’s arm a kindly pat before settling into the sofa.
Jin Jumo looked over at Rong Sinan and Li Li, who were still standing, "Brother Rong, Uncle Li, please have a seat as well."
Rong Sinan nodded and sat in the double seat on a side of the long sofa with Li Li.
Rong Mochen glanced at the spot next to Jin Jumo, intending to go over.
But Rong Zhengfeng shot him a fierce look.
Rong Mochen’s body slightly paused, and his lightly raised right leg was forced to retreat. He stood still with a solemn expression.
Rong Sinan and Li Li both gave Rong Mochen a sympathetic look.
Rong Sinan secretly felt relieved: fortunately, the old man didn’t know that he had long been aware of Xixi and Hanhan’s existence, otherwise, he wouldn’t escape punishment this morning either!
