Chapter 280: Chapter 280 So weak

*MONALISA*

I held my cellphone as I sat on the bed.

I should call him at least to ask how he’s doing but he might find my call bothersome.

My cellphone rang out.

I swallowed seeing the caller’s ID.

It was him...Lorenzo.

I slowly picked up.

“Hey.” He began.

He sounded so weak.

“Hi.” I replied not knowing what to say.

“Are you busy?”

“No.” 𝐟𝕣𝕖𝐞𝐰𝕖𝚋𝐧𝗼𝚟𝐞𝕝.𝗰𝐨𝐦

“Can you like stop by the hospital? You don’t have to stay long if you don’t want to though...I just wanna see you.”

He wants to see me?!

Before I knew it, I was running out of the house and into my car.

***********

I got to the hospital in no time and hurried into his ward.

I met Allegra and an old woman.

The two of them turned to face me.

Allegra looked away.

“Oh, Mrs Anna, that’s my wife, Mona.” Lorenzo introduced stretching his head to look at me.

He was still lying flat on the bed.

“Yeah, I remember her from your wedding day. Dear, please take good care of our dear Lorenzo, everyone is praying for him.”

I nodded, wondering who she is.

Maybe a friend of his mother.

“I brought food for him but the doctor said he shouldn’t eat anything today.” She said to me.

“Thanks for that.” I replied, awkwardly.

“I’ll get going now.”

“Thanks for coming.”Lorenzo said.

She smiled at him and left.

He gestured at me to come closer.

I glanced at Allegra as I moved closer to him.

Won’t she go home already?

“Allegra, thanks for being here but you can go home and rest now.”

“I’m not tired at all.”

“Please I want you to leave, you know, give my wife and I some privacy.”

I bit back a smile.

I felt happy about that.

She finally left.

“Who was that old woman?”

“One of the cleaners in my company.”

I frowned.

She’s just a cleaner.

Just how nice is this man?

“When you hung up like that, I thought you were very upset with me, I didn’t know you were running here...running to...”

“How can you still tease someone in your condition?” I sneered.

He grinned. “I’m sorry for passing out in your parking lot. It must have ruined the success of your show.”

“It didn’t ruin anything but I feel so mad that I wanna punch you right now.”

He gasped.”I’m hospitalized, Iron lady.” He reminded.

“Yeah...that’s your saving grace. Why didn’t you tell me that you were sick?”

“I didn’t want to bother you with it and I really wanted to watch you dance on stage for the first time.”

“Still...”

“Can you stop scolding me, I’m hospitalized.”

I snickered. “It seems you like that word a lot, Mr hospitalized.”

“Shut up.” He laughed and winced.

The doctor had said he would be in so much pain when he wakes up.

“Are you okay?”

“Yes, it doesn’t hurt much.” He replied.

“Stop lying.”

Lorenzo smiled, sadly. “Fine. It hurts a lot. I can’t believe they tore me open.”

Despite myself, I laughed.

How can he be funny at a time like this?

“They didn’t tear you open, silly.”

“I’m so hungry.” He let out.

“When can you eat?”

“Tomorrow, I can’t wait”

I felt bad for him.

I felt like doing something to while away time.

I can’t make him watch comedy.

He had winced when he laughed earlier.

I pulled a stool and sat on it.

“Do you want me to read you a novel?”

“Yeah, but no comedy, it hurts to laugh and not tragedy, I don’t want to cry.”

“So a novel has made you cry before?” I asked, amused.

“Yeah, it was a sad one.”

I laughed. “You’re such a pussy.”

“Ouch, get busy reading something to me, woman.” He ordered.

“What happened to being polite?”I chided.

“I can act however I want. I’m hospitalized.” He said with a smile.

I eyed him and then I got busy reading a novel for him.

We sometimes paused to talk about our favorite characters and the scenes.

Soon, it was 9:pm.

“It’s getting late, I should head home now.” I said, getting hold of my hand bag.

“Do you have any plans tonight?”

“No.”

“You know, I’m hospitalized and all that...and there’s no one here...I was thinking you would spend the night.”

Yeah, I should spend the night with him.

It’s the right thing to do.

“Okay.”

I agreed and sat on the couch.

“Why are you so far away? I can’t even see you.” He grumbled.

I sighed.

Did the surgery make him go crazy?

I stood up and moved closer to the bed.

“Look here, I wanna sleep on the couch, okay? So go to sleep too.”

“Can you not sleep on the bed?”

Ahh.

He’s really crazy.

“You can fit in if that what’s you’re worried about.” He said, moving to the side of the bed...moving and wincing.

He tapped on the empty part of the bed.

“Please.”

Fine...I can just play along.

He’s ill.

I laid on the bed, beside him.

When I turned sideways, he was staring at me.

He brought his hand to face, running his fingers through my skin and making me nervous.

“Thanks for today, Mona, but I have one more request.”

I didn’t like the sound of this but I asked anyway.

“What?”

“Kiss me”

I swallowed. “Why would an hospitalized person be asking for that?”

“C’mon...kiss me please.”
