Chapter 169: What are you thanking me for?

There was no snowfall this Christmas. Whether it would start falling in the evening or it wouldn’t fall at all, the news wasn’t very clear about it.

In any case, the backyard had no snow and the scooters were beautifully displayed there with ribbons at their headlight.

They were pretty, especially the pink one.

Kang-woo and Yun-tae sat on the bench and stayed silent for a while, breathing out cold and visible breaths.

Even if it wasn’t snowing, it was still cold.

Kang-woo might’ve had a clue as to what Yun-tae was going to say since he had seen him with Myung-woo and saw how well Myung-woo treated him.

That was how a real boyfriend was meant to act and he knew that he never acted like that towards Yun-tae.

He never considered himself his relationship boyfriend, anyway. He was only doing it for Chin-hwa and now that he knew Chin-hwa had feelings for him all along, there was no need to keep themselves tied to a label like that.

He was sure Yun-tae felt the same.

"So, how are you and Chin-hwa?" Yun-tae asked, twiddling his fingers gently. "You know, he’s the happiest when you’re around."

Kang-woo nodded.

"Kang-woo, did we ever go on a date? Just the two of us?" Yun-tae asked.

"No, we didn’t."

"Ah, that’s right." Yun-tae nodded. "I liked you a lot, but I subconsciously liked Chin-Hwa so much that I wanted our outings to always include him. It was simply the three of us hanging out and never us two, so with that..." He raised his head and looked Kang-woo in the eye. "The only thing we ever did as a couple was kiss on that rooftop but after that," he suddenly laughed. "...we were better off as friends."

Kang-woo stayed silent. He understood what Yun-tae was saying and understood that this was him saying they never really had a connection so it was a good thing. They could let go of each other without any regrets.

"Yun-tae," Kang-woo finally spoke up. "Thank you,"

"Huh? What are you thanking me for?"

"In a way, it’s thanks to you that I could patch things up with Hwa." He said and lowered his head. "I’m glad we did not go too far and subconsciously hurt Hwa while thinking we were fulfilling his wish."

"Yeah, that would’ve been horrible." Yun-tae said and sighed. "But Hwa is so stubborn. If he liked you from the beginning, why didn’t he just say something?"

"I’m at fault as well," Kang-woo said, laughing at his own reluctance to confess.

"Yes, I know. You two are made for each other in every way, including your stubbornness." Yun-tae said and a small silence followed before they laughed. "Okay, that came out weirdly." He said as he laughed.

"I know," Kang-woo responded, also laughing.

"Anyway, this means we’re cutting the ropes on good terms, right? We never really had anything special but the times I spent with you... And Hwa, they were the best." He smiled and Kang-woo smiled back, reaching his hand to pat Yun-tae’s head.

"You’re such a good person," he said. "I’m glad you were able to find someone else. That Hyung from before, does he treat you well?" He asked and Yun-tae’s face flushed.

"He... He does." He said, avoiding Kang-woo’s eyes and Kang-woo laughed.

"That’s good to know then."

He got up from the bench and sighed.

"Then, I’ll get going." He said and started heading for the back door when Yun-tae called,

"Kang-woo," Kang-woo stopped and turned his head.

"Even if I know you two are two stubborn tacks in a pack, I need you to do something for me." He requested and Kang-woo gave him a listening ear. "If something happens next time and neither of you can open up because you’re just too stubborn or because you’re scared, can you be the bigger person and speak up? Communication solves everything, trust me."

Kang-woo listened to this and nodded.

"Alright," he answered. "I promise."

Yun-tae smiled and waved at him till he was out of sight.

As he entered through the backdoor, he found Myung-woo leaning on the wall right next to the door. It looked like he was waiting for them to finish speaking but from the way he looked at Kang-woo, it looked like he suddenly saw him as an enemy.

His thoughts were, ’So, this is ’that’ guy, huh? I never could’ve guessed it.’

Though it was not Myung-woo’s intention to eavesdrop, he ended up hearing everything. He didn’t know they were going to talk in the backyard, so he planned to get some fresh air there, only to hear his sweet Yun’s voice.

He made it clear that he heard their conversation by staying there and when Kang-woo walked away, he walked out and saw Yun-tae swinging his legs lightly with his gaze on the floor.

"Yun," he called and Yun-tae raised his head.

"Hyung,"

"Is it done?" He asked. "Did you finally settle things with him?"

Yun-tae clenched his fist and nodded. He didn’t want Myung-woo to know Kang-woo was the boyfriend he was talking about.

Of course, Kang-woo sounded like a jerk who was neglecting him but once Myung-woo found out it was Kang-woo, he kind of understood why.

Because everyone knows Chin-hwa is the only one Kang-woo sees.

’Then, why did they end up together in the first place?’ he wondered as he sat next to Yun-tae.

He placed his hand around his neck and pulled his head to meet his. 𝕗𝐫𝐞𝕖𝕨𝐞𝗯𝚗𝕠𝘃𝐞𝚕.𝐜𝗼𝚖

"Why are you so down then?" He asked Yun-tae. "Do you feel bad about it?"

"No, not at all." Yun-tae answered. "But... It feels weird. Doesn’t it feel weird knowing Kang-woo was the boyfriend I was talking about?"

"Yes, it is. And I never could’ve guessed it." Myung-woo said and then sighed. "But I understand a few things happened since you two never really went far, according to what I heard."

"Yeah, we didn’t. We were more like friends who kissed once." Yun-tae said and though it didn’t sound much, that single thing made Myung-woo a bit annoyed.

He kissed Yun-tae. What kind of kiss? Was it a French kiss or similar to a peck? He hoped it was no more than their lips touching.

Yun-Tae saw how he was distracted and guessed he was getting jealous. He sighed and then held his face, pulled him in for a light kiss, a simple peck and that was all.

"That was the kind of kiss we shared and nothing more." Yun-tae said and Myung-woo stared at him, shocked.

So, he could read his mind now?

"Your expression is very easy to read when you’re jealous." Yun-tae said as he laughed.

"Is that so?" Myung-woo smirked and then leaned in to kiss him once more. "Yun, I’ll expect your reply tonight." He said softly, his hot breath itching on Yun-tae’s ear. "And then, I’ll give you your Christmas gift."

Yun-tae nodded.

"Then," he placed his hands on his shoulder. "I hope to give you your Christmas gift as well, after yours, of course."

"Ah, I’m suddenly feeling impatient." Myung-woo said, dropping their foreheads together. "I just can’t wait, Yun."

"You’ll have to wait," Yun-tae said. "It’ll feel even special then."

Myung-woo heard this and his heart warmed up. His little Yun. He hoped to get a positive answer when the time came because he just couldn’t wait to make him his.

"Then for now, let me tell you my name."
