Chapter 138: Chapter 138: Wedding Scheduled for the Twelfth Lunar Month

No one expected Cecilia Vaughn to make a move, and in a moment of unpreparedness, Vera Yves took the slap directly, the pain on her face clearing her mind somewhat.

"Vera Yves, watching him fight for you like this, does it make you feel proud?"

Zoe Monroe immediately shielded Vera Yves behind her, "Hey, get it straight, okay? It’s Winston Valentine who is entangled with Vera, not Vera with him! No one wanted this to happen, but how can you blame Vera?"

Miles looked coldly at Cecilia Vaughn, "What right does Miss Vaughn have to blame Vera?"

"Winston and I are getting married soon; he’s my fiancé! Why can’t I blame her?"

"Then wait until he acknowledges your status, and it won’t be too late for you to blame her then."

Vera Yves then took a step forward, "I’m going to wash up."

Zoe Monroe, not at ease with her alone, followed her into the restroom. Vera Yves placed her hands under the faucet, the warm water diluting and washing away the glaring redness.

Vera Yves thought of when Winston Valentine was wheeled into the emergency room, his face already covered in blood, so much so that she couldn’t stop it.

If risking his life to save her in the woods before was his duty as a husband, then what about today?

Zoe Monroe, seeing Vera Yves’s face full of tears, tenderly helped her wipe them away.

The waiting time outside the emergency room seemed infinitely extended, each minute and second was torment.

Melinda Shelby arrived when it was already past three in the morning.

Cecilia Vaughn approached, "Aunt, Winston is still in the operating room."

Melinda Shelby’s gaze landed on Vera Yves, full of contempt. Henry Sterling hurried over to help fasten her coat, "Don’t worry, Winston will be fine."

On the way there, Melinda Shelby had figured out the ins and outs of the situation, she tightened her coat and gave Henry Sterling a look.

Henry Sterling walked over to Vera Yves, politely saying, "Miss Yves, you’ve divorced Winston, it’s not appropriate for you to continue staying here." 𝕗𝐫𝚎𝗲𝘄𝐞𝕓𝐧𝕠𝘃𝕖𝐥.𝐜𝚘𝚖

Vera Yves didn’t move, she looked towards the door of the emergency room.

Cecilia Vaughn came over, blocking her view, "Vera Yves, stop pretending to be kind here! If it weren’t for you, Winston wouldn’t have gotten hurt! You’re not welcome here, get out!"

Vera Yves still refused to move.

Zoe Monroe, seeing Cecilia Vaughn’s demeanor, got angry, "Fine, we’ll leave! Who cares about staying here!"

Zoe Monroe held Vera Yves’s arm, "Vera, let’s go."

Vera Yves shook her head.

Just as both sides were at a stalemate, the operating room door opened, and the doctor came out. Melinda Shelby went straight over, "How’s my son?"

The doctor took off his mask, "The patient is out of immediate danger, but he sustained a head injury and is still unconscious, further examination is needed."

Vera Yves breathed a sigh of relief.

Miles put his arm around her shoulder and led her away.

Vera Yves accompanied Miles to get his wound treated, Miles looked at her swollen eyes, "It’s all my fault, I shouldn’t have been so impulsive."

Vera Yves blinked, a few tears fell, she held Miles’s hand, her voice calm, "Miles, let’s get married."

Miles pulled her into his arms, "Vera, since you’ve agreed, there’s no backing out, you understand?"

Vera Yves nodded lightly.

The next morning, Theodore Xavier returned to Imperia with the three of them, revealing that Winston Valentine was still unconscious, and Melinda Shelby had already transferred him to a hospital in Imperia overnight.

After that, Vera Yves didn’t pay much attention to his condition.

The two decided to get married, so after returning to Imperia, Miles took Vera Yves to visit the Monroes.

It was just New Year’s Day, and the Monroes were all gathered at The Morgan Estate.

Seeing Miles and Vera Yves holding hands as they walked in, the Monroes showed varied expressions, but Old Master Monroe cheerfully invited Vera Yves to sit beside him.

After the meal, Miles spoke straightforwardly, "Grandpa, Dad, Mom, Vera and I have decided to get married."

Old Master Monroe, upon hearing this, laughed heartily, "Since you’ve decided to get married, let’s have the wedding before the end of the year."

Zoe Monroe happily said, "I want to be the bridesmaid!"

Ruby Shelby glared at her, and Zoe Monroe pouted, not saying anything further.

Matthew Monroe sarcastically remarked, "And you said you’re not a sycophant, clinging on after divorce, Vera Yves, you have no dignity!"

Ruby Shelby glared at him again, this pair of children really gave her no peace of mind.

Old Master Monroe frowned and glared at him, "If you don’t want to stay, get out!"

Matthew Monroe snorted, got up, and left.

Old Master Monroe shook his head in disapproval, "Look at the son you’ve raised!"

At the table, Mason Monroe said nothing, finished eating, and called Miles to the study, Penelope Langley followed them in.

Vera Yves stayed in the living room, drinking tea with Old Master Monroe.

Old Master Monroe, wearing reading glasses, flipped through an old-style calendar, "I’ll pick a few potential dates first, then we’ll discuss with your family, the wedding must be arranged by the end of the lunar month."

Zoe Monroe held Vera Yves’s arm, "Vera, will we have time to order the wedding dress if we get married before the year’s end?"

Vera Yves recalled Cleo Sutton wanting to give her a wedding dress, "If the design is simple, it should be fine."

"You’ll need to get engaged, take wedding photos, choose various outfits, pick a wedding venue, there’s so much to do, is there enough time?"

"There should be enough."

Vera Yves couldn’t help but think about the wedding with Winston Valentine.

Seeing Vera Yves somewhat absent-minded, Zoe Monroe leaned in and whispered, "I heard Winston Valentine hasn’t woken up yet."

Old Master Monroe interjected, "Let’s finalize the engagement date first."

Miles came downstairs, Mason Monroe and Penelope Langley didn’t look too happy, but neither said anything further. Old Master Monroe was discussing the engagement date with both of them.

Penelope Langley looked at Vera Yves, "Vera, when will you bring your parents over? Our families should have a meal together and then set a date."

Leaving The Morgan Estate, Vera Yves questioned curiously, "What did you say to Uncle Monroe and Aunt Lana?"

Miles smiled and ruffled her hair, "That’s a secret."

Vera Yves smacked his hand away.

Miles couldn’t resist pinching her pouty cheeks, "Alright, tomorrow we’ll go to The Yves Family, once Aunt Hayes and Uncle Yves agree, we’ll go pick out a wedding venue."

Hannah Hayes was overjoyed to hear they were getting married, but hesitated thinking about Penelope Langley, "What about your parents..."

Miles replied with a smile, "They’ve already agreed."

Harry Yves said nothing, calling Miles up to his study upstairs.

Hannah Hayes curiously asked Vera Yves, "How did you get Penelope Langley’s approval?"

Vera Yves thought of Miles’s answer, "A secret."

"Smack!" Hannah Hayes flicked her on the forehead, "Got the nerve to joke with your mom?"

Vera Yves rubbed her forehead, "Mom, don’t spread the news yet."

Hannah Hayes confidently said, "Your mom knows what she’s doing."

Mark Yves, hearing they were getting married, felt indifferent, seeing Hannah Hayes washing fruits in the kitchen, he sat beside Vera Yves, casually asking, "Vera, has Zoe Monroe started dating?"
