Together Apart: Her White Moonlight Has Returned Too-Chapter 152: You Like Winston Valentine Too
Winston Valentine stopped walking.
Vera Yves looked at him, her expression indifferent, "I can attend, but I don’t want to be by your side."
"Okay."
Winston Valentine left the lounge.
The lounge was stocked with about a dozen evening gowns, and Vera Yves casually picked one, then pinned up her hair and simply applied lipstick before heading out.
A waiter was waiting outside the door, and upon seeing her, respectfully guided her to the banquet hall.
Almost as soon as Vera Yves appeared, all eyes were on her.
Coming to Winston Valentine’s engagement party, is this woman crazy?
Cecilia Vaughn was dressed in a custom-designed gown, with exquisite makeup, smiling elegantly and confidently, she seemed to glow.
Seeing Vera Yves, she calmly walked over and raised her glass, "Vera Yves, I’m so happy you came all this way to bless Winston and me."
Vera Yves glanced at her coldly, "You’re happy too soon, who said I’m here to bless you?" 𝕗𝐫𝚎𝗲𝘄𝐞𝕓𝐧𝕠𝘃𝕖𝐥.𝐜𝚘𝚖
Cecilia Vaughn’s smile stiffened slightly, "Then you’re here to witness our happiness, Vera Yves. What Winston couldn’t give you before, he’ll give to me from now on. I know you’re upset, but you’ll have to bear it!"
"Cecilia Vaughn, don’t consider me your imaginary rival. You like him, and hold him as precious. To me, he’s been nothing for a long time." Vera Yves turned around and saw Winston Valentine standing behind her.
Winston Valentine looked at her calmly.
Vera Yves passed by him expressionlessly.
Cecilia Vaughn stepped forward and took his arm, "Winston, should we call Grandma again?"
Though Old Mrs. Valentine had agreed to their marriage, she insisted that they keep it low-key. Winston Valentine had made the engagement party so grand, pushing Old Mrs. Valentine to her limit, and she directly decided not to come.
Winston Valentine regained his composure, "No need."
"Wouldn’t it be bad to anger Grandma? How about I..."
Winston Valentine pushed her hand away, "I’m going to greet someone."
Cecilia Vaughn generously smiled. Looking at her empty palm, even though he was disregarding his grandma for her, why did she still feel he might leave her at any moment?
Zoe Monroe came to the engagement party with Theodore Xavier and immediately spotted Vera Yves.
She let go of Theodore Xavier’s arm and rushed to Vera Yves’ side, "Vera, I finally got to see you. I’ve asked you out so many times, and you always refuse, are you planning to break up with me?"
Vera Yves said helplessly, "I’ve really been busy lately."
Zoe Monroe clung to her arm, afraid she might run away, "Then how do you have time to attend Winston’s engagement party?"
"He’s got issues." Vera Yves’ voice was cold, "I’m helping him with his treatment now."
Zoe Monroe couldn’t tell if she was joking.
Theodore Xavier came over and politely greeted Vera Yves, and she politely returned a smile.
"Vera Yves, you really have the nerve to come!" Wendy Jennings, wearing an expensive gown, walked arrogantly to Vera Yves, "You’ve been trying to seduce him for so long, and still Winston chose to get engaged to Cecilia. Aren’t you furious?"
Zoe Monroe remembered this was the woman who caused trouble at the last Monroe Family dinner party.
"If Winston Valentine has the nerve to get engaged to a mistress, why can’t Vera come?" Zoe Monroe stood upright, "With Vera around, Cecilia Vaughn will always be the mistress! She can’t wash that off!"
Stella Valentine twisted her way over, "Zoe Monroe, since Miles dumped Vera Yves, why are you still fawning over her here?"
Zoe Monroe glanced at her, furrowing her brows, "Are you itching for trouble again?"
Stella Valentine gritted her teeth, "Vera Yves, you really have the nerve to call my sixth sister the mistress. Everyone knows how much you loved Miles, and just a few months after divorcing my third brother, you happily married Miles! You two must have been sneaking around long before!"
Zoe Monroe pretended to hit her. Theodore Xavier held her shoulder, "Zoey, calm down."
Wendy Jennings chimed in, "Vera Yves, after being dumped by Miles, are you turning back to Winston Valentine? Do you think Winston would want a woman that Miles discarded? You better keep your eyes wide open at today’s engagement party and watch closely!"
"My cousin would never discard Vera..."
"Enough, everyone knows Miles would leave the wedding halfway for Jane Shea!" Wendy Jennings laughed at Vera Yves, "Vera Yves, how undesirable must you be for Miles to leave you without hesitation!"
Vera Yves felt her chest tighten with discomfort. She thought she could be indifferent, but it still hurt.
The surrounding people were gossiping too.
Winston Valentine, was this your aim?
"What does it have to do with you?" Vera Yves glared coldly at the woman in front of her, "Caring so much about me, do you also have feelings for Winston Valentine?"
Wendy Jennings’ expression hardened, "What... what nonsense are you talking?"
"You could go after him; if he can cheat once, he can cheat again."
Everyone’s eyes turned to Wendy Jennings.
Vera Yves smiled coldly, "No decent person stands up for a mistress. You’re so cheap, Winston Valentine will surely like you."
"Vera Yves, you!" Wendy Jennings raised her hand to hit her.
Vera Yves grabbed her wrist, "Struck a nerve and embarrassed?"
Throwing her hand aside, Vera Yves picked up a napkin to wipe her hands, disdainfully looking at her, "Does Cecilia Vaughn know about your filthy intentions?"
Wendy Jennings’ face turned blue and white, "Vera Yves, stop slandering me!"
Catching sight of Cecilia Vaughn not far away, Wendy Jennings hurried over, "Cecilia, don’t listen to her nonsense, I didn’t..."
Cecilia Vaughn glanced at her disdainfully, "Don’t follow me!"
Wendy Jennings was hurt by her open disgust, was their years of friendship ruined by a few words from Vera Yves?
Seeing Stella Valentine still standing in front of her, Vera Yves sneered, "What, want me to spill your secrets too?"
Stella Valentine gritted her teeth in anger and left in shame.
Vera Yves tossed the napkin aside, and Zoe Monroe quietly gave her a thumbs-up.
Vera Yves found a quiet corner, glances of inquiry occasionally swept over her. She drank a few sips of wine, her mind involuntarily flashing back to Miles leaving.
Not far away, Winston Valentine and Cecilia Vaughn walked onto the ceremonial stage, and the ceremony officially began.
The host spoke passionately, and Cecilia Vaughn smiled gently, looking affectionately at the man before her. After so long, she finally stood beside him.
Winston Valentine looked aloof as if none of it concerned him.
"Now let’s have the soon-to-be newlyweds exchange engagement rings."
Cecilia Vaughn smiled and took the ring from the box held by a server. Seeing Winston Valentine not moving, Cecilia Vaughn called out, "Winston?"
Suddenly, the hall doors opened, and a figure walked in, "Cecilia, you can’t get engaged to him!"
