Together Apart: Her White Moonlight Has Returned Too-Chapter 30: Showing Off for Another Woman
Winston Valentine looked down at the woman in his arms, "Are you trying to kill yourself!"
The driver was scared to death, patting his chest, and was about to start the car again.
Vera Yves couldn’t bother to talk to him, she pushed away and tried to rush forward again.
Winston Valentine held her tightly in his arms, sternly saying, "Are you crazy? How many lives do you think you have to go up against a car!"
"I can’t let them take away the things Grandpa left behind!" Vera looked up at him, "If the car hits me, it can’t leave!" She could then buy time to negotiate!
Winston Valentine’s face was somber as he glanced at the driver, "Get out!"
The driver recognized Winston Valentine, hurriedly got out of the car, and respectfully greeted President Valentine.
The lead man saw the car stop and quickly walked over.
Winston Valentine ordered coldly, "Put everything back."
The man looked troubled, "President Valentine, taking the things to burn was Mr. Shelby’s idea..."
"I’ll talk to Mr. Shelby." Winston Valentine’s face was cold, "Put everything back, no one is to touch anything."
Only then did the man instruct the others to put all the items back.
Winston Valentine took Vera Yves into the clinic, glancing at Mark Yves, who instinctively touched his face and avoided his gaze.
Vera Yves sat on a lacquered red wooden chair, her voice broken, "Thank you."
Ever since Vera agreed to treat that woman, he knew his mother would not let her go so easily, so he kept people watching his mother’s actions.
Thinking that if he hadn’t come today, she would have been knocked to the ground by the car, Winston Valentine felt like calling her foolish.
But looking at her pale, stubborn little face, he couldn’t help but feel some compassion.
Winston Valentine looked around the clinic; for such a clinic, this woman was willing to push him away!
"Thank you for what? I’m not helping you." Winston Valentine said coldly, "Years ago, when my grandfather was sick, thanks to Old Mr. Yves for treating him, I’m just repaying his kindness."
Upon hearing this, Vera Yves seemed to see her last hope, eagerly saying, "Winston Valentine, I beg you, as long as you can help me preserve Grandpa’s belongings, I’ll do anything you ask."
Winston Valentine just let out a chilly laugh, mocking, "Anything I ask? Even keeping a mistress outside?"
Beside them, Mark Yves couldn’t take it anymore, "Winston Valentine, if you dare keep a mistress outside behind my sister’s back, I’m the first one who won’t agree!"
Winston Valentine cast him a glance, and Mark’s body instinctively hurt a little.
"Do I need your agreement?"
Vera Yves clenched her palms tightly, "Except for that."
Winston Valentine snorted, "Except for that, what else needs you to obey me?"
Vera Yves fell silent.
"Rest assured, no one will dare touch anything here." Winston Valentine glanced at the wound on Vera’s hand, "Come with me to the hospital."
Vera Yves refused, "I can take care of this little wound myself."
She wanted to stay behind to organize the things.
Winston Valentine frowned, "Women really say one thing and mean another, one second you’re promising to obey me, the next you want to go against me."
Vera Yves had no choice but to obediently follow him to the hospital.
After her hand was treated, Winston Valentine took her to see the gynecologist. 𝒻𝑟𝘦𝘦𝘸ℯ𝒷𝑛𝘰𝓋ℯ𝘭.𝘤𝘰𝘮
After examining her, the doctor expressed dissatisfaction, giving Winston Valentine a look, "Even if you’re young and strong, some things need to be restrained."
Winston Valentine responded calmly, "I was a bit impulsive."
The doctor clicked his tongue, "Impulsive? You’re too impulsive! There’s bleeding, for at least half a month, no conjugal activities, remember to rest."
Winston Valentine’s cold expression finally cracked a little, "Understood."
Vera Yves’ cheeks reddened, and Winston Valentine took the prescription, uncharacteristically going to the pharmacy himself to get the medication.
After getting the medicine, Vera Yves wanted to return to the clinic, but Winston Valentine sent her back to the villa, "The doctor advises rest."
"I’m fine."
Winston Valentine raised his brows at her, "Obey me in everything?"
Vera Yves hesitated to ask, "Will you really help me?"
She thought after what happened that night, he would despise her even more.
"Of course not." Winston Valentine said coldly, "Today’s help was just to avoid seeing you end up dead on the street, after all, you’re still holding the title of Mrs. Valentine."
Vera Yves’ heart twisted into a knot.
"The simplest solution now is for you to refuse Tristan Valentine, let that woman fend for herself."
Vera Yves shook her head, "Your father helped Mark Yves, which was equivalent to paying the consultation fee, I’ve already accepted the case, I can’t abandon it halfway."
"Didn’t expect Mrs. Valentine to be so principled about others." Winston Valentine laughed coldly, "But in this world, principles only bind rule-following fools."
Vera Yves raised her head, her face flushed with anger, "Winston Valentine!"
"Just because of you, I don’t have such ability to go against my mother." Winston Valentine spoke disdainfully, "If you continue to talk about your damn principles, just wait for Old Mr. Yves’ life’s work to turn to ashes."
She naturally knew how much weight she held in his heart.
The phone rang, Winston Valentine glanced at the caller display, his expression relaxed somewhat, walked out to answer the call, not long after, the sound of a car driving away echoed downstairs.
After taking the medication, Vera Yves received a call from Linda Young.
"Vera, last night Winston Valentine beat Luke Shaw! Heard it was at The Gilded Age, all because Luke Shaw talked badly about Cecilia Vaughn!" Linda Young exclaimed, "That bastard! Really knows how to make a scene for another woman!"
Vera Yves’ eyes dimmed slightly, "Luke Shaw is indeed not a good person."
"Whether Luke Shaw is a good person has nothing to do with him! Do you think this Cecilia Vaughn is doing it on purpose, finding a playboy as a boyfriend to make Winston Valentine stand up for her?"
Linda Young thought more and felt this woman’s tactics were brilliant, "If you ask me, Vera, you should start collecting evidence now, plan to leave that bastard early!"
Not to mention she couldn’t get evidence, even if she did, Winston Valentine would never agree to divorce her.
Winston Valentine was right, in this dog-eat-dog circle, by following the rules, she could only trap herself.
She must quickly find a way to preserve Grandpa’s belongings!
She drove to Hillside Villa.
Stopping treatment now would surely offend Tristan Valentine, and she had just offended Melinda Shelby, naturally she wouldn’t be so foolish.
Vera Yves informed Tristan Valentine that the clinic had her grandfather’s data, she still needed to study it, perhaps finding a better way to treat Cleo Sutton.
Tristan Valentine looked at her deeply, "Can it be longer than two years?"
Vera Yves’ expression was calm, "Perhaps."
After a long while, Tristan Valentine smiled, "If there’s a chance, it’s worth trying."
The following days, Melinda Shelby’s people didn’t come to the clinic again.
Vera Yves returned to the clinic, putting everything back where it originally was, she placed several books back in Grandpa’s resting alcove.
Looking up, she found an extra painting on the wall of the room.
It was the one she saw at the exhibition that day.
Though he mocked her for having poor taste.
When did he have someone put it here?
The room was somewhat dimly lit, and as she stared at the painting, lost in thought, she was reminded of the warmth of his palm, and the faint scent from his body when he leaned close.
A hint of warmth slipped past her feelings, only to realize how truly pathetic she was.
His blatant favoritism towards Cecilia Vaughn, while she became emotional over his occasional, negligible compassion, was utterly ridiculous.
By the time she finished organizing, it was already dusk, as Vera Yves walked out from the back room, she saw Winston Valentine sitting in the traditional armchair.
