Tokyo: My Superpower Refreshes Every Week-Chapter 51: As Long as You Have Power, You Can Be Anything You Want_1
Chapter 51: Chapter 51: As Long as You Have Power, You Can Be Anything You Want_1
Hibino Mio was in the reception room on the second floor of Konishi Financial Company, seated on a single leather sofa. It felt very comfortable, but she was in no mood to appreciate it. The tea placed before her was pale brown, steam slowly rising from it.
She stared at the tea, her fingers unconsciously intertwined; she was very nervous.
Hibino Mio was no longer a child. She knew very well what happened if someone defaulted on a high-interest loan.
But she had no choice.
In that urgent situation, it had been completely impossible to borrow enough for her daughter’s medical treatment through normal channels.
Her only option had been a high-interest loan.
Such a loan might seem like a lifeline in the short term, but in the long run, it was another inescapable Hell.
But she didn’t care. If it was Hell, so be it.
As long as her daughter was safe, she didn’t mind what tortures she might face.
This was different from what Konishi and others assumed. Hibino Mio wasn’t easily swayed by money now, not because of any inherent nobility. Rather, it was because in her ignorant youth, desperate to fit in with her classmates, she had sold her body to buy brand-name bags.
When boys in her class discovered this, they threatened her. To conceal her actions, she had no choice but to submit. She managed to keep it quiet, but this led to the exposure of a group incident on the school rooftop.
The friends she had made at school instantly distanced themselves, some even cursing her behind her back to draw a clear line.
Her once happy family also fell apart afterward.
She severed ties with her mother.
Hibino Mio, pregnant with Sumiko, had to fend for herself in society.
If she continued selling her body, she thought, she would quickly degenerate, contract various diseases, and then, perhaps, die.
Considering Sumiko’s safety, she had chosen to work as a waitress in the restaurant industry.
The pay couldn’t compare to before, but earning money through honest work gave her a sense of security.
Yet, it seemed fate enjoyed toying with her, unwilling to let her go, always trying to drag her back into that dark world.
She was well aware: they were willing to lend her money because they coveted her body.
To repay the debt, her only recourse was this... ample body of hers.
Hibino Mio swallowed nervously. Her gaze drifted towards the reception room door, from beyond which she could vaguely hear a group of people shouting.
She didn’t dare open the door to look; she could only sit here obediently, waiting for destiny’s cycle to complete itself.
...
Konishi Financial Company had a total of thirty-two people, with thirteen working on the second floor.
Upon receiving the chairman’s notice, they immediately became enraged.
In this industry, provocations from rivals occurred every few months, just as a lion needs to defend its territory.
They, too, needed to defend their reputation in this area.
Some grabbed porcelain basins, others brandished chairs, and a few gripped baseball bats tightly. The group charged into the office, radiating a fierce aura.
"Chairman, who do you want us to beat this time?"
A man of higher status charged in. Seeing Mayeki Hikitsugu on the ground and the young man standing there, he immediately knew the target.
Behind the office desk, Konishi and others straightened up. He wasn’t sure how the young man had managed to take down Mayeki Hikitsugu.
But he understood that strength lay in numbers. Surely, his dozen or so men could overcome a single youth?
The advantage was his!
"You all, take him down!"
Konishi and others clutched his burnt right eye with his right hand, his left eye bulging, shot with blood.
Aozawa was calm and collected as he raised his hand and said, "Wait a moment, you guys."
Konishi and others laughed wildly, "It’s too late to apologize now. Take him down!"
But no one moved.
Under Aozawa’s Hypnosis Ability, the dozen or so men who had entered all subconsciously felt that since their opponent said to wait, waiting a little longer wouldn’t be an issue.
They obediently waited there, waiting for those on the lower floors to come up.
Konishi and others, so angry he forgot his pain, roared, "You idiots! Get him!"
"Chairman, although I find your words very compelling, I think it’s better to wait a bit longer."
Hearing his subordinate’s reply, Konishi and others nearly had a heart attack.
He couldn’t understand why his underlings had suddenly become so stupid.
This isn’t a turn-based game!
Aozawa turned to Konishi and others, using his Hypnosis Ability. "Delete all your company’s debt records."
Konishi and others opened his mouth to curse, but the words that came out were, "Yes, sir."
His mind seemed to split in two. One half screamed at him not to do it, while the other half insisted it was better to obey.
Konishi and others sat down and deleted all loan records.
Aozawa issued a new hypnotic command, "Smash the computer with your bare hands."
A flicker of hesitation crossed Konishi and others’s face. He didn’t want to obey such an order, but his body still moved, his fist striking the computer before him.
BANG! The screen cracked. Konishi and others, like a robot oblivious to pain, began to furiously pummel the computer.
Mayeki Hikitsugu on the ground felt a hint of fear and exclaimed, "What have you done to them?"
Aozawa strolled over to the man on the floor. "What benefit is there for me in answering your question?" he asked leisurely. "Just lie there and wait to die."
Mayeki Hikitsugu grit his teeth and growled, "Why do you want to kill us?"
Aozawa found such a question laughable and crouched down. "When you drove into Hibino Sumiko and made your move on them, was there ever a moment of hesitation in your minds?"
"So that’s it. You think you’re some kind of crusader for justice?"
"And why can’t I be?" Aozawa retorted, spreading his hands. "Isn’t my power enough to be a hero?"
"Heh, you’re just using that reason to satisfy your own desire to kill. You’re no hero, you’re just like us!"
Mayeki Hikitsugu suddenly understood. The young man had to possess incredible Superpowers; the recent bizarre incidents were probably his doing.
Aozawa laughed. "So, the world is only ’real’ if scum like you, who are permitted by law to exist, are allowed to live? And anything else is hypocrisy? What a tedious argument. Regardless of what you think, I’m just doing what I’ve always wanted to do but couldn’t before."
"Hey, what are you guys blocking the door for?"
Hearing the voices from outside, Aozawa cut the conversation short. He stood up and declared, "Alright, now that everyone’s here, you will all fight each other. To the death. Use all your strength, fight until your last breath."
His Hypnosis Ability had diminished somewhat, but this only affected its duration and his capacity to issue commands that severely contradicted a person’s fundamental nature all at once.
But fighting was clearly not something these Yakuza would have an aversion to.
More than thirty men immediately started brawling.
Aozawa crossed his arms, enjoying the "hot-blooded high school" fight unfolding before him.
Mayeki Hikitsugu, suppressing his pain, his eyes flashing fiercely, quickly drew his gun and pulled the trigger with his right index finger.
