Chapter 59: Unique Interest

Myrrava led Klaus to the back garden of the castle where some of the knights were training, including some newbies who were staring at the two.

"We train the knights here," Myrrava seemed bored as hell as she avoided their gaze, which seemed weird for Klaus.

"Are you scared of them or something?" He asked whilst looking at some pretty roses at the side.

"Hah?" She was caught off guard, not even knowing what to say, not just because of the question but because people never addressed her so casually.

Klaus turned towards her and went letter by letter, which annoyed her even more, "I said, are you—"

"I heard you the first time," A vein throbbed on her forehead which was unusual for her, some of the knights even started being surprised that the princess didn’t already order the execution of the boy.

"So? Are you or are you not?" But Klaus didn’t really care about her reaction, he didn’t know the princess or for that matter anyone here at all, and he would be sent back home soon, as long as he didn’t die he didn’t care.

"No! Why would I be! You—" She wanted to insult him but she resisted the urge to do so, at least in front of the family knights, "I don’t want to kill family knights anymore."

’Did she just say anymore?’ A drop of sweat rolled down on Klaus’s back as he didn’t even know what to say anymore.

"Anymore?"

"The reason I avoid everyone’s gaze, because of my affinity as a mage."

’What could her affinity possibly be?’ Klaus was genuinely surprised, what affinity would possibly be harmful enough for her to be like that..

’And our eyes met earlier, what does that even mean?’

"What’s your affinity if you don’t mind me asking," They kept walking as they moved into a garden past the knights, it seemed empty however the smell was mesmerizing. 𝕗𝕣𝐞𝐞𝘄𝐞𝚋𝚗𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗹.𝚌𝕠𝚖

Klaus had never smelt anything like this before, like multiple scents of flowers blooming in the air.

"Manipulation," She said it straight up as they arrived at what seemed to be a tea place where nobles had tea parties.

’Fancy ass garden, and manipulation?’ Klaus looked around and the garden was like a rainbow with all the different flowers.

"How does that even work?"

"My god, do you ever shut up and stop asking questions?"

"..." Klaus just stood still, surprised as Myrrava seemed annoyed, turning away from her.

’Never have I thought a princess would talk like that,’ he even let out a small chuckle which made her even more annoyed; however, she for some reason turned towards him, her violet eyes shining as their eyes met.

"Hm?" Klaus just stared at her eyes as nothing in the world happened.

"What..." Myrrava’s arms shook as he kept activating her affinity and staring at Klaus; however, Klaus seemed normal.

"No way..." She hit herself in the head a couple of times which made Klaus nearly laugh out loud.

"Are you trying to use your affinity on me?" Klaus seemed perplexed, not even knowing how to react; however, neither did Myrrava know how to react.

"Yes."

’...’ Klaus’s eyes twitched and Myrrava’s eyes stopped glowing as she coughed awkwardly, her cheeks flushing red.

"Doesn’t seem to be working," Klaus just held back the urge to laugh as he looked away, trying to hide his face.

’She actually tried?!’

’No way, why is it not working?!’ Myrrava tried to hide her embarrassment as she turned away, trying to avert her gaze from Klaus.

She looked at him and he looked completely normal.

Myrrava felt her mana sink down from her eyes as she looked at the flowers whilst trying to calm herself.

’This has never happened before..’ She was genuinely surprised; it worked all the time when she used it.

’Could he be special?’ She looked at him; his hair was messy but clean, his eyes seemed tired but still like the sun, his attire seemed dirty now, a witch’s hat was on his head, probably something he took from the family’s treasury, and his hands were in his pockets like some lazy folk.

’No way...I need to find out more about him...’

"You are in the academy, right..?" Klaus seemed surprised at her question; however, despite that, he nodded.

"Yeah, I’m a first year."

’First year?! Could he be strong enough to resist as a first year?’ Her mouth nearly went agape.

"But I’ll be attending senior classes soon," he plucked out a rose and smelled it, his face seemingly surprised at the good scent.

"How come?" Myrrava was surprised even at herself for asking so many questions; she was never like this, not around anyone.

Klaus sighed once and then went on to explain his situation: "As you may know, I delivered paperwork to your father, the king."

"Mhm."

’Where is he going with this?’

"That was a mission given to me by the headmaster; if I deliver it, I’ll be allowed entry to senior classes."

"Oh, that’s all?" Myrrava thought it would be something more extra, like a groundbreaking spell or something of the sort.

"Yeah, it’s a good deal though," he dropped the flower on the ground and trampled over it, which made Myrrava chuckle.

"So, is this the whole tour?"

Completely ignoring his question, Myrrava stepped closer: "Could I get into this academy?"

Klaus stared ahead of himself and shrugged: "Probably, I think." He let out a chuckle: "Many people are weak, so if you are strong, you could probably even join now."

’!!’ She had never wanted to leave the castle; however, seeing the interesting boy in front of him, she changed her mind.

"Why would you want to join now though?"

"Huh?" Suddenly, at his question, she didn’t know how to answer; her eyes fluttered as she stepped closer.

"Can’t I just join without a reason?"

Klaus chuckled as he kept walking in circles like his feet were on fire.

"I mean, you can, but you probably have a reason—"

She stopped him in his tracks and stood in front of him, staring into his eyes.

"Maybe I am interested in you."
