Transmigrated as a Rare Female: Beast Husbands Love Me Exclusively-Chapter 146: Crown Prince
"That little female should have been the Empire’s only Crown Prince."
Ruan Li’s pupils dilated; the Empire actually had a Crown Prince?!
But the Queen had always publicly announced that she had not birthed a female.
"According to my hypothesis, the Crown Prince was conceived eighteen years ago when the Queen and a Tiger Beast Husband were on M Star. At that time, the Queen disappeared from the media for nearly two months. Although Lan Ruo works for the Queen, she does not necessarily agree with what the Queen does, otherwise, she wouldn’t have told you about the Eternal Flower."
Ruan Li looked at Lan Ruo standing in front of her, wanting to speak but stopping.
Lan Ruo smiled and clapped her hands, "As expected of Professor Lu; to discover royal secrets with just a few clues and deduce that I would help you. Why not guess what kind of condition I would propose next?"
A moment of silence followed on the other end of the line.
"I’m afraid I can’t guess."
Lan Ruo chuckled softly, "After the Crown Prince ascends the throne, I want to be the Regent King."
"...That is not something we can decide," said Lu Mujie.
Lan Ruo opened her palm, admired her newly made nails, pleasing to the eye: "But Marshal Lu can decide. After the Queen is convicted, although she may not lose her life, a lifetime of imprisonment is unavoidable. The Crown Prince is currently suppressed by drugs to the age of seven or eight, and even if he ascends the throne, he will have no real power. Why not let me manage the royal affairs on behalf keeping them intact until he comes of age and then return them in full."
Lan Ruo looked up at Ruan Li, "You really surprise me. You never pursued power, but if you use the Purification Source to trade with me, I can help you become the Crown Prince."
After all, a savior becoming the new Queen elected by the people is more than justified.
Ruan Li pointed to herself, "Me?"
The woman in front of her was undoubtedly the same age as her, with undisguised ambition in her eyes.
Lan Ruo curled her lips into a smile, "You don’t want it? Admiration from all, boundless power, anything you desire you can have. Want a man? Just beckon, and he will eagerly come."
Ruan Li was stunned for a moment. She never imagined that she could also have a day of high ranking and power, but her character was inherently unsuited for such responsibilities, or rather, she found these things troublesome.
Ruan Li was about to speak when Lan Ruo interrupted her, "Don’t rush to conclusions or decisions."
She patted Ruan Li on the shoulder, "Come on, let’s go do something that will change this era."
Lan Ruo’s Smart Brain rang, she glanced at it casually; it was a call from the Queen, and without a second thought, she hung up and shut down the Smart Brain.
In the lounge of the hall, Alice saw her call to Lan Ruo being cut off, and her face clouded for a moment, her eyes filled with obscure gloom.
"Ruan Jiao, help me block those reporters outside. Once this matter calms down, you will marry Vize. My only child will become your Beast Husband, and when I abdicate, you will become the sole heir." Alice said to Ruan Jiao beside her.
Even in the face of such crisis, knowing of betrayal by close aides, Alice maintained her perennial elegance, though there was a tinge more panic in her expression than usual.
"Your Majesty, I will of course support you unconditionally, and the Ruan Family has always been Your Majesty’s support." Ruan Jiao said with a flawless smile.
Alice had never been particularly close to Ruan Jiao, even though she was about to become her nominal family member; they were allied through interests, the most steadfast yet fragile relationship. When interest fades, one side might easily depart, or even stab the other viciously in the back.
And Alice had been hiding a secret, one that if revealed...
"Then go tell those reporters what should and shouldn’t be said, you should know. I’m tired and need a rest." Alice dismissed Ruan Jiao but left Vize behind.
Ruan Jiao left with some guards, giving a brief statement to the reporters outside the hall.
Of course, she knew that the surface changes had been temporarily suppressed, but the doubts and mistrust in people’s hearts would eventually become some form of trigger.
"How did it go? Did you explain things to the reporters?" Vize, having just come from Alice, hurriedly asked.
Ruan Jiao nodded, her voice low, "Rest assured, I have silenced those mouths. Will the ceremony still proceed? What did Her Majesty say?"
Vize recalled what the Queen had just told him, his eyes flickered, "She said nothing, only instructed to temporarily settle the Federation ministers and discuss again after the public’s emotions settle in seven days."
Ruan Jiao nodded. Seeing Vize’s somewhat pale face, his hair slightly disheveled, she stepped forward to help him tidy it.
But Vize looked at her warily, stepping back to dodge her hand, "What are you doing?"
Ruan Jiao smiled, withdrawing her hand, "Your Highness, must you still treat me this way?"
Vize’s face stiffened, then he stepped forward, supporting her hand voluntarily.
Ruan Jiao turned slightly, taking in the humiliation on his face, "I suppose neither you, Your Highness, nor Her Majesty wishes to see rumors of discord between the Ruan Family and you, correct?"
Vize pressed his lips together, his obsidian eyes like they were veiled with a gray haze.
Ruan Jiao curled her lips.
When the two walked out, although many reporters had been forced out, some were left behind. Seeing Ruan Jiao and Vize appear, they took photos in a frenzy, preparing for the headlines of the day.
Ruan Li was taken by Lan Ruo to her own home.
"What would you like to drink? Milk or plain water?" Lan Ruo asked.
"Just plain water." Ruan Li scanned Lan Ruo’s home, the low-key luxury matching Lan Ruo’s personality.
Lan Ruo handed the cup to Ruan Li, laughing, "There aren’t many people in this world I personally pour water for."
"Then I am truly honored."
"Your Beast Husband will be fine, but someone might have to take the fall."
Ruan Li asked, "Take the fall?"
Lan Ruo nodded mildly, "Alice definitely won’t blame the robots for this. If I were Alice, to drag you into the water while also distrurbing Lu Mufeng’s authority and influence... who do you think would be the most suitable target?"
Late at night, the Queen’s car drove from the hall into the Royal Palace, her face unhappy.
"Bring Major General Zhe over."
The guards brought Zhe Ye, handcuffed, to the Queen’s study.
"You may leave." Alice waved her hand, dismissing all the guards.
In the vast study, it was only the Queen and her scapegoat.
The silence hung in the air for a moment, the Queen reclined on the sofa, looking at Zhe Ye standing below with a straight spine, his stern face showing resolve and no submission.
She smiled, "I thought you would ask why I had you brought here."
Zhe Ye raised his eyes, coldly staring at the Queen, "Since this afternoon, Your Majesty had your Personal Guard detain me in the side hall of the auditorium. I dare say I’ve never overstepped boundaries, and after much introspection, I still have no answer."
"But you’ve already figured out the answer in your heart, haven’t you?"
