Transmigrated as a Stepmother: Time to Bring the Family to Prosper!-Chapter 362: She Truly Loves Him
The rain stopped for only two days before it started pouring again.
With the early winter rains, the cold crept upwards, so Qin Yao’s family kept the house tightly closed and only felt better with the charcoal burning.
The four Da Lang siblings stayed at home for a few days without neglecting their studies. Except for Da Lang, who had an injured hand, Second Lang, Sanlang, and Si Niang all practiced calligraphy for an hour each day.
Every morning, after reciting his lessons and having breakfast, Liu Ji would take his fancy book box to the Lotus Courtyard. Gongliang Liao had been tutoring him in writing lately, and in the mid-afternoon, he would return and teach the few children at home.
By evening, he’d arrive punctually at the stationery factory. After a literacy class, if Qin Yao was around, they’d head home together.
Tonight, the rain intensified. Worried workers would get home too late, only one class was held at the literacy class.
Ah Wang came to deliver umbrellas. Although he brought two, Liu Ji gallantly insisted on covering Qin Yao’s head with one.
Lately, some rumors from the city made Liu Ji itch with curiosity. He wanted to ask Qin Yao about them, but business was busy, and with the troublesome weather over the past two days, the study construction was halted, leaving him with a bit of free time.
If the ground were cement, Qin Yao thought walking in the rain might be interesting. Unfortunately, the village roads were muddy puddles, and she only wished to get home quickly to warm up by the fire.
Liu Ji had to hurry to catch up with her, finally panting and softly asking:
"My lady, what did you do after returning from the county that day? Why did you only return in the middle of the night?"
Qin Yao glanced at him, "Why ask this? Hasn’t it already passed?"
"Yes, it has passed," Liu Ji said excitedly. "But how did it go so smoothly?"
He hadn’t forgotten the sight of Jin Chan Chu tied up, bleeding in the sack. With Qin Yao able to do such things to him, why hadn’t he brought officials to arrest them?
Also, he heard from people returning from the city that the Jin Family had already been confiscated by the government, the pawn shop transferred, with the new shopkeeper being a woman.
Jin Chan Chu was wiped off the board overnight, no longer mentioned. Now there’s only the death row inmate Jin Kui, waiting for execution after the fall harvest.
How long has it been?
Only two days had passed since he caused a scene at the city pawn shop, yet the county’s situation had completely shifted from what he imagined.
Actually, after returning home that day, with the pleasure of revenge fading, Liu Ji suddenly remembered Jin Chan Chu’s power, surely planning a ferocious comeback.
Even if wounded and unable to move, Jin Chan Chu still had a son, who surely wouldn’t forgive them.
These past two days, Liu Ji had been living in fear, aware that with Qin Yao home, the Jin Family’s people could be repelled by her.
Yet he also feared the Jin Family’s power, worried they’d harness the government forces, which even with Qin Yao’s unbeatable martial arts, she couldn’t kill off all the officials from top to bottom.
Who’d have thought, no government officers came to arrest them, nor did Jin Chan Chu’s son. Upon inquiring with the convoy, turns out, the enemy’s forces were annihilated!
Liu Ji was dumbfounded at the time. 𝒻𝑟𝘦𝘦𝘸ℯ𝒷𝑛𝘰𝓋ℯ𝘭.𝘤𝘰𝘮
He pondered repeatedly last night how the issue was resolved but couldn’t figure it out.
Though he did think of a key point—that after he left that day, Qin Yao undoubtedly dealt with something more.
Certainly not just hanging Jin Chan Chu at his pawn shop’s entrance.
Qin Yao gave Liu Ji a teasing glance, "Are you unsatisfied with how it ended now?"
Liu Ji frantically shook his head; he dared not be unsatisfied, "My lady, to be honest, I’m absolutely amazed by your perfect strategy, a one-stroke resolution!"
"A one-stroke resolution?" Qin Yao chuckled, nodded, "Yes, either don’t do it, or do it thoroughly to solve it once for all."
"In fact, I didn’t do much that day, just used the information from Lin Erbao to go to Jin Family’s countryside villa and find a few incriminating ledgers." Qin Yao described casually and lightly.
Liu Ji instinctively agreed with a well-done, then froze, surprised, "Were the ledgers that easy to find?"
Qin Yao laughed, nodding, "Easy, yes. Just look openly, knock down a wall if there’s one, smash any mechanisms. The villa isn’t that large, the ledgers aren’t small items either, rummage through the ruins a bit, and there they are."
Liu Ji and Ah Wang widened their eyes in unison and exchanged swift glances, swallowing silently in rare synchronization, plunged into an eerie silence.
Raindrops hit the oil-paper umbrella, producing a "pitter-patter" sound. The silent master and servant seemed to see a grand villa vehemently destroyed by a woman, crumbling in ruins, collapsed within moments.
A raindrop hit Qin Yao’s head; she looked up, and the umbrella over her head mysteriously vanished.
Looking back, the umbrella holder stood dumbfounded behind her, motionless.
"Liu Laosan!" Qin Yao bellowed with commanding force.
Liu Ji, shocked back to reality by his imagined scene, hurriedly extended the umbrella to cover her again.
Sighing internally: I’m so foolish, letting such a powerful lady get rained on!
"My lady, does your hand hurt?" Liu Ji took her hand, bringing it to his lips, "Let me blow on it; such mischievous walls, daring to make you punch them..."
He babbled incessantly while intermittently blowing on her hand.
The scene was so overwhelming that Ah Wang felt his stomach twisting. If he could, he’d gouge out his own eyes!
Qin Yao coughed warningly a couple of times; Liu Ji raised his eyes, sincerely asking, "Are you catching a cold, my lady?"
Qin Yao shook off his hand, disdainfully wiping her hands on his clothes, "Stop blowing, I didn’t punch the wall."
Liu Ji: "Huh?"
"Do you know the difference between humans and animals?" Qin Yao asked seriously.
Liu Ji shook his head, confused.
She poked his dazed forehead, enunciating each word: "Because humans use and invent tools, you pig!"
Really using her hand to punch the wall, wouldn’t that hurt her fist?
"I simply used a big wooden pole to smash down." Qin Yao explained dispassionately.
Liu Ji shuddered, again envisioning Qin Yao wielding a wood thicker than her, sweeping across Jin Family’s villa mightily.
Let’s say, suddenly she seemed even scarier!
"My lady, if I may ask, do you have to exert effort to suppress your strength daily so our house won’t collapse, dishes won’t break, and farm tools won’t get damaged?" Liu Ji asked curiously.
Qin Yao didn’t expect him to think of this, and rarely gave him a few more looks, nodding seriously, "Yes."
Actually, she was fooling him. She didn’t suppress herself at all; mere mortals lacked understanding of controlling power.
Through professional strength training, she had mastered power control expertly.
Though in her past life, when her superpower first ignited, she often accidentally tore down her home.
But now she’d long since stopped making such low-level mistakes.
Liu Ji raised his hand, gently patting his nape, suddenly feeling moved.
She never truly intended to kill him!
Because if she did, with her strength, he’d be long dead.
To spare his life, day and night, she painstakingly suppressed her own power.
It must be a painful ordeal?
Just thinking of it made Liu Ji tear up—she genuinely loved him so much!
Qin Yao raised her fingers, wiping a crystalline tear off his face, frowning in perplexity.
She often wondered what strange thoughts rolled around in his head to elicit such untimely and bizarre reactions.
