Transmigrated as Cannon Fodder — I Rise to Female Lead Through Hard Work-Chapter 28: Visiting as a Guest
"These canned goods and peach crisps need to be brought to Mr. Wang’s place this evening," Yi Roujing said, as Ding Anmin dutifully took out the canned goods and peach crisps.
"What’s this?" Ding Anmin took out a palm-sized piece of cloth with two needles stuck in it, and some thread beside it, frowning slightly, "We don’t lack these at home, what did you buy this for?"
"It came as a bonus."
As soon as Yi Roujing finished speaking, Ding Anmin’s face brightened instantly, "The Department Store in this county is so generous, they even throw in these extras, it’s worth a few cents anyway."
"Anmin, you should do some embroidery now." Yi Roujing took out the packaged scarf and handed the dyed one with a pulled thread area to her, "I remember you’re good at embroidery."
According to the original memory, Ding Anmin could embroider handkerchiefs, and the patterns on cloth shoes were all embroidered by her. Today, Ding Anmin was wearing white cloth shoes, with azaleas embroidered on one side, looking very pretty and, most importantly, unique.
"Just embroider the azaleas on the shoe’s surface, mend the pulled thread area, and choose a spot to embroider over the dyed part," Yi Roujing said, handing over a red scarf with gold edges, "This is for you."
Ding Anmin was so excited her face flushed, "Is this really for me?"
"Yes, after you finish embroidering, I’ll wear this one," Yi Roujing said.
"How come there are more?" Yi Roujing took out two more, and Ding Anmin’s eyes widened, "How much would this cost."
"One is for Mr. Wang’s wife tonight," Yi Roujing explained, "Your elder brother works for them, it’s important to maintain good relations."
On hearing this, Ding Anmin was speechless.
"The other one to take home for Mom," Yi Roujing said casually, yet it showed her acknowledgment of Li Hongying’s efforts, the Ding Family’s kindness wouldn’t be forgotten by her, even if she divorces Ding Ancheng in the future, her sentiments towards the Ding Family will remain.
As for Yi Roujing’s biological mother Liu Huilan, this time the money and coupons are from the Ding Family, she plans to buy something for her once she earns enough herself.
Ding Anmin was both surprised and delighted, "I feel either of these would suit Mom well."
Yi Roujing nodded, "Later I’ll wrap them up properly, and when we go tonight, we’ll decide which one to give to Mr. Wang’s wife based on her outfit."
"You’ve thought this through, truly getting smarter," Ding Anmin praised.
"I just don’t show off," Yi Roujing coughed softly.
Yi Roujing and Ding Anmin chatted animatedly, seeing this, Wang Qiushuang felt heavy-hearted, Yi Roujing’s previous words really differed from before, truly changed.
Thinking about her future, Wang Qiushuang felt slightly relieved, thickening her skin to speak up, "Roujing, Anmin, are you going to dinner at the home of that County First Middle School director? Take me along."
Yi Roujing knew Wang Qiushuang’s character, it was normal for her to make such a request; Ding Anmin on the other hand was momentarily stunned and then looked at Wang Qiushuang in disbelief.
"Why would you go? Have they invited you?" Ding Anmin asked, puzzled.
"We all know each other after all, adding me doesn’t make much difference," Wang Qiushuang replied with a smile.
"It does," Ding Anmin rolled her eyes, "It’s way too much."
"Roujing, we..."
Wang Qiushuang swallowed her next words under Yi Roujing’s smiling gaze. Previously, she wasn’t afraid of the angry and resentful Yi Roujing but now, with Roujing smiling, she couldn’t face her directly.
"Not appropriate," Yi Roujing said three words, and Wang Qiushuang didn’t say more, nodding and claiming she wouldn’t go. She knew saying much wouldn’t make a difference.
However, when Ding Ancheng came to pick up Yi Roujing and Ding Anmin, Wang Qiushuang went down too, stating she’s going to the county food factory to find Chen Bangguo. Since the County First Middle School path isn’t working, she couldn’t find a teacher. Workers are also fine, but she needs to find a way to secure a formal job.
Mr. Wang and his wife live in the staff dormitory of the County First Middle School, but because of his seniority, it wasn’t a standard dormitory but a single-story house with a courtyard, one of only three in the whole County First Middle School.
Ding Ancheng knocked on the door, and it was Mr. Wang himself who answered, "Ancheng, Roujing, Anmin, you’ve arrived."
Mr. Wang’s close calling felt very comfortable, and Ding Ancheng handed over the canned goods and peach crisps.
"Why are you blocking the door, quickly invite Roujing and the others in," a soft Wu-nong accent called out, a woman in a dark floral long dress with a white cardigan slowly stepped out.
"This is my wife, you call her Aunt Hanjuan," Mr. Wang introduced with a smile.
"You’re Roujing, and this is Anmin, right?" Zhao Hanjuan recognized them instantly, after all, Heping and Zhixin had described it clearly, Yi Roujing had a pretty face, although both were good looking, it was obvious who stood out more.
"Aunt Hanjuan," Yi Roujing and Ding Anmin called out in unison.
"Good, good, young ladies are so cute, much better than stinky boys."
Mr. Wang and Zhao Hanjuan have two sons living in the provincial city, the small courtyard is home to the two of them, during holidays the sons and daughters-in-law would seldom visit, but chatting with themselves wouldn’t hold their attention.
Zhao Hanjuan dressed in moderation fitting her age with soft features carrying a scholarly air, giving off a breeze-like comfort.
Yi Roujing took out a scarf with blue flowers on a white background, wrapped in elegant blue floral paper, complementing Zhao Hanjuan’s outfit perfectly.
"Aunt Hanjuan, this is for you," Yi Roujing offered the gift to Zhao Hanjuan.
"What is it?" Zhao Hanjuan was curious.
"A scarf," Yi Roujing answered with a smile, "I feel it suits you very well."
Zhao Hanjuan opened it eagerly, admiring the refined color, "It’s so beautiful, must be a new color; I haven’t seen this before."
She immediately wore the scarf around her neck, tying a simple knot and then a bow.
The bow wasn’t particularly unappealing, but with so little room around the neck, it tended to cover too much; Yi Roujing approached with a smile, "Aunt Hanjuan, I know another way to tie a scarf, would you like to try?"
Zhao Hanjuan nodded enthusiastically saying yes.
With just a simple knot and another knot, pulling the ends slightly loose, positioning it more to the side of the neck.
Zhao Hanjuan invited Yi Roujing and Ding Anmin inside, taking special care to look at the mirror.
"Roujing, you tied it so beautifully, simply yet it’s better than my bow," Zhao Hanjuan was delighted.
"I just experiment, trying various ways with scarves and shawls; eventually some turn out presentable," Yi Roujing laughed, then discussed matching scarves with outfits, how colors complement each other.
Hu Heping and Hao Zhixin, being women, were quite interested, even Ding Anmin listened attentively on the side.
"I’ll go get some more scarves, Roujing, you can demonstrate for us," Zhao Hanjuan eagerly said.
Yi Roujing agreed readily.
"Ancheng, we men should head to my study," Mr. Wang was pleased seeing his wife so happy, letting them have their fun.
