Transmigrated as Cannon Fodder — I Rise to Female Lead Through Hard Work-Chapter 70: The Truth
Huaixi County bus station, Song Yiluo and Tong Dongxue had already bought their tickets. With some time to spare, the two waited under the shade of a tree.
"Sis, have you thought of how to deal with the Ding Family?"
"Don’t rush."
"We’re almost being walked all over by them."
Song Yiluo saw a face she could never forget. On March 7th, it was this person who pushed Yi Roujing into the water, coldly leaving as she struggled for a long time. She covered her mouth tightly, witnessing everything from the bushes. This person was dangerous, but even more so to Yi Roujing.
"Dongxue, do you think Yi Roujing and Ding Anmin will take the same bus back to the Tongxian Commune as us?" Song Yiluo casually raised this question.
"How would I know?" Tong Dongxue replied.
"Maybe they’ll head back in the afternoon." Song Yiluo said, "When we checked out this morning, it seemed like Yi Roujing didn’t check out at all."
"The county guesthouse was pretty nice. Next time we come, we should stay there again." Song Yiluo said with a smile.
Tong Dongxue nodded indifferently.
"Let’s go in." With that, Song Yiluo was the first to step into the station.
"Sis, Ding Anmin and the others are actually in the county. Should we seize the opportunity to teach them a lesson?"
The people speaking outside the station were Li Xijun and Li Xipei. Upon unexpectedly learning this news, Li Xijun was eager to get started.
"What if Ding Ancheng is also at the guesthouse?" Li Xipei thought of this possibility and was filled with hatred.
"We can find someone to check. He should have classes today." Li Xijun said, "I’ll go to the black market and find some acquaintances to help."
Li Xipei didn’t object, so Li Xijun sprang into action. "Sis, you wait for me at the guesthouse. I’ll bring people soon."
Sometimes coincidences just happen. On the way to the guesthouse, Li Xipei happened to bump into Yi Roujing, who was pacing back and forth in a small alley as if deep in thought. She was muttering at times and holding her face with silly smiles at others, looking quite foolish.
That day after searching for Liu Moli and leaving the Wan Tang Production Team, it was the same. Li Xipei, following behind, saw the determined strides of Yi Roujing ahead, muttering incessantly, paying no attention to anything around her, completely unaware that Li Xipei was right behind her.
When Ding Ancheng and Yi Roujing got married, though her family wasn’t invited, Li Xipei still went, watching from afar as the foolishly smiling Yi Roujing entered the Ding Family’s door. 𝕗𝐫𝐞𝕖𝕨𝐞𝗯𝚗𝕠𝘃𝐞𝚕.𝐜𝗼𝚖
How could a woman like that be worthy of Ding Ancheng?
Even at this time, though there were passersby, the small alley was quite empty. If she stepped forward, knocked the person out, and waited for Li Xijun and the others to come, no one would know it was her doing, just like when she pushed the person into the water; everyone thought the person had accidentally fallen in.
Step by step, Li Xipei walked carefully and silently, looking at the person just two or three meters away, her hand gripping a stone she had just picked up. Just a hit and it would be...
"Whoa—" Li Xipei’s eyes suddenly widened as Yi Roujing, who was just backing her moments ago, had turned around and was very close, a pair of large almond eyes coldly staring at her. The hand holding the stone was now firmly grasped, forcing her to drop it due to the pain.
"Tsk, it’s you." Yi Roujing released her with an indifferent expression and glanced twice at the stone on the ground. Supporting her chin, she said, "So my previous guesses were correct. It was you who pushed me into the water."
"Because of Ding Ancheng?" Yi Roujing stared at Li Xipei, "But does liking someone have to come to the point of eliminating those around him? This love of yours is truly frightening."
"What nonsense are you talking about?" Li Xipei panicked for a moment, but quickly regained her composure.
"Then what were you trying to do just now?" Yi Roujing admired the girl’s nerve. This person was wicked in a self-righteous way.
"Just wanted to spook you." Li Xipei shrugged, "But it was you who scared me instead. I was just joking with you."
"Spook? Joke?" Yi Roujing spread her hands, "I don’t like jokes from people I don’t know well."
"Didn’t expect to see you in the county. Since you don’t like it, I’m leaving." Li Xipei kicked the stone aside and waved at Yi Roujing, "Goodbye then."
"Oh, until we meet again." Yi Roujing replied calmly.
Hearing this, Li Xipei glanced back at Yi Roujing, puzzled, "You seem a bit different."
"That’s because you don’t know me well." Yi Roujing raised an eyebrow.
Li Xipei left the alley, spotting Li Xijun and his group approaching. She walked over and said with a smile, "Thanks for the trouble, but nothing happened. Let’s treat you all to lunch."
"Sis, what’s going on?"
"I’ll explain later." Li Xipei furrowed her brows tightly. She had been careless. Now that the game is exposed, who knows if there’ll be another chance next time.
Yi Roujing followed them out of the alley, but Li Xipei’s group had already moved far away. From their backs, there seemed to be quite a few people, including Li Xipei and Li Xijun, along with four other men.
"Oh, there you are. Big brother is back. Let’s get ready to head back. Maybe we’ll catch the bus." Ding Anmin, stepping out of the guesthouse, saw Yi Roujing standing at the intersection of the street and alley, waving eagerly.
"Coming."
Ding Anguo rode his bike first back home, carrying things with him and grinning from ear to ear.
Ding Ancheng bought three tickets, and the three of them caught the morning bus.
Before the bus started, Song Yiluo saw the three board the bus, clenched her teeth, and thought she’d missed them, really their luck.
Feeling Song Yiluo’s gaze, Yi Roujing turned and met her eyes, sighing inwardly. She felt wronged; why were so many people hostile to her?
On the bus, only the last row had three seats, where Ding Ancheng’s group sat, giving Yi Roujing the window seat.
The bus jolted along, and the sleep-deprived Yi Roujing from the previous night dozed off, waking to find her head resting on Ding Ancheng’s shoulder.
"Awake? Hungry?"
"A little." Yi Roujing yawned, touching her stomach.
Ding Ancheng handed her some biscuits, surprising Yi Roujing, "What about Baozi?"
Before leaving the guesthouse, Ding Ancheng warmed the meat buns he got from the state-run restaurant. He gave three to Ding Anguo and kept the remaining five for himself.
"They were from yesterday and a bit cold." Ding Ancheng kindly replied, "Eat some biscuits for now."
With greasy hands and lips still shiny from the oil, Ding Anmin turned her back to her family. Perhaps a natural wild child, just fifteen minutes earlier she had eaten a meat bun, and clearly, her brother had eaten one too.
