A massive ball of flames emerged in front of me, covering my vision as I abruptly launched it forward.

Using the fireball as cover, I infused Red Lightning directly into my body, shooting myself forward through the flames and arriving in front of Kai.

I was met with a massive smirk.

He flapped his wings, causing my flames to halt momentarily.

But it was not a one-time attack.

I was constantly infusing my energy into those flames, so they continued moving on alongside me.

But my flames were not the only things that Kai had to worry about, as 100 Clorafite Weapons blasted down from the ceiling and barraged him nearly endlessly.

His speed was not for show, as even with those big wings on him, he practically danced out of every single Clorafite Weapon.

Once he finally got his footing, he was met with my pitch-black katana that I had infused with both Pyrokinesis and Red Lightning.

It was as though he had been fully prepared for my attack, as by bringing both of his wings together, he blocked the full force of my swing, causing a thin red line to ricochet off his wings and slash the ceiling in two.

As the ceiling began to collapse, Kai began to move out of the way. 𝒻𝑟𝘦𝘦𝘸ℯ𝒷𝑛𝘰𝓋ℯ𝘭.𝘤𝘰𝘮

But because I had enhanced myself with Red Lightning, I was finally able to track his movements.

They were actually not fast.

They were instant.

That was because instead of moving, he detached one of the feathers from his wings, tossed it aside, and then abruptly teleported toward it.

But since I perfectly traced the angle at which he threw the feather, I made my move, utilizing my Mystic Eyes and actually spotting Kai travel through a thin strand of energy and arrive at his thrown feather.

Once again, I met him with a fierce katana slash, and with my ever-increasing speed, as well as the threat of my Pyrokinesis, it seemed like Kai was slowly being pushed back.

Then again...

I could also see that he had not broken a sweat yet.

After several exchanges that decimated the room around us, I eventually forced Kai into a position where he was at the entrance of the room, and the pedestal was behind me.

I switched with my flames and made them circle Kai, while on the other hand, I dashed straight for the pedestal.

The Vermillions were still somehow alive.

And despite everything... they raised their rapiers and chose to stand against me.

I felt like we had a real bond going.

People who I could eventually open up to, hang out, and be actual friends with.

Ah...

No matter how I do things.

No matter what steps I take...

It seems like Clementine is the only person in this world that I can truly trust to never turn against me.

I raised my katana up high and swept my gaze over all three of them one last time.

And with a merciless slash that vibrated the air around it, my katana sliced through their necks.

They moved a few inches forward, then stopped.

Confused expressions appeared on all three of their faces.

And as the hot gust of flames from my Pyrokinesis blew toward them, their heads suddenly fell from their shoulders and slammed into the ground, followed by their bodies falling limp.

My expression remained hardened as I reappeared in front of the Demonic Transformation Pill, which rested inside the pedestal.

Yet instead of slashing at it, I took one step forward, my figure blurring as I reappeared in front of Vincent.

It is like he thought I did not notice him taking the pill and storing it inside his dimensional ring.

Annoying illusionist.

His eyes widened, but before he could move away or the six assassins could step in to help, my blade pierced through his abdomen, slashed his side, and along with it, sliced his left hand.

As it soared through the sky, I caught his hand, took his dimensional ring off, and put it on.

He stepped back and reached for his flintlock pistol, only to slip on his blood and fall to the floor.

In the next instant, the six assassins arrived, moving in sync as they surrounded me, then dashed straight for me.

My first instinct was to just discharge a lot of flames and burn them alive.

But...

It has been nearly two seconds since I left Kai’s side, and he has yet to interfere.

So whatever is going on is something that I would much rather tread cautiously around.

Overloading my body with Red Lightning, I felt as though my muscles were about to burst.

Yet I pushed myself forward as my vision blurred once again.

I was only able to see where I was going because of my Mystic Eyes.

And so, I circled each of the incoming assassins and cut off their limbs before they could even react.

When I finally stopped to take a breath, the assassins landed on the ground alongside their limbs.

The crackling of the air intensified, until I spotted a feather burst through my wall of flames.

Before I could cut it in two, Kai teleported toward it and slammed his hand down, forcing me to block his strike with my blade.

The force behind his strike was nothing short of overwhelming, as the floor gave in beneath me, sending me hurtling through one room to another until eventually, I found myself in a massive crater in the middle of one of the largest praying rooms in the cathedral.

Kai stood on my blade and stared down at me, his smile long gone.

"It seems like your small body contains much more strength than I had initially guessed."

"You don’t say."

Flapping his wings once, he suspended himself in the air only a couple of meters above me.

He raised his hand as a purple glaive slowly emerged from his palm.

Waving it around a couple of times, Kai eventually pointed it down at me.

He was like a completely different person.

Someone who was much more dangerous than the person I had fought against only a few seconds ago.

We stared at each other until Kai finally raised his glaive.

And when he lowered it, the fight finally began.
