Transmigrated As The Final Villain of a Death Game-Chapter 158: The Divine Healer [ 5 ]
[Amon’s POV]
Ah...
How long has it been?
It’s been a while since I only had my thoughts to myself.
As for the pain, I had grown accustomed to it already.
This is oddly nostalgic.
Very~
I could still remember the count.
1,238,094,899
Should I continue where I left off?
How stupid...
I never want to experience that ever again.
With that in mind, I snapped back to reality, abruptly opening my eyes.
The moment I did, I realized that I was still submerged in the cauldron, but unlike when I first got in, the water was clear.
Even the pain that I thought I was feeling was now gone.
I gasped for air repeatedly, and after catching my breath, I finally calmed down and leaned on the edge of the cauldron.
Only then did I realize that both Adam and Clementine were standing guard beside the cauldron.
And once I locked eyes with Clementine, she slightly glanced down.
Her eyes widened, and her face immediately flushed red.
She glanced away, then looked back over and over again, until she abruptly turned around.
"Y-Y-You should put on s-some clothes!"
"..."
This is not how I pictured Clementine seeing me naked.
With how lewd she was being lately, I kind of thought I’d be the first one to see her naked.
Shit...
This is embarrassing...
But just as I was about to climb out, Adam chimed in:
"Hold on. I need to check your condition before you can leave."
"Do I need to freeze my balls off so you can do your checkups as well?" I retorted.
Adam narrowed his eyes.
"I couldn’t care less about your balls at the moment, so stop waving them around. Stand still."
Before I could reply, he stepped forward and placed his finger on my forehead.
I felt like my whole body was being scanned with some type of energy, especially my brain and my heart.
That feeling soon faded, and Adam backed off.
"You’re all good. Step out, dress up, and go find a hot spring a tad bit lower down the mountain or something. You stink."
My brow twitched.
"Is Aliyah back yet?"
He shook his head.
"It’s only been around four hours since she left. But that’s enough chatter. There’s something we need to talk about, so wash up fast and come back."
With that, Adam waved at me and entered his hut.
He seemed a little troubled.
It must be something serious...
But even though Adam left, Clementine just stood there, rooted in place like a statue, unable to move.
A mischievous smile appeared on my face as I stepped out of the cauldron and wrapped my arms around her, pulling her tight.
"What are you—!"
"Haha. Now you’re wet like me."
I rubbed my chest all over her back, wetting all her clothes.
Clementine yelped and squealed before finally dashing off the mountain, glaring at me from several hundred meters above.
Yet once she glanced down, her expression flushed again as she turned around with a pout.
Get dressed already!
Hearing her shout from above, I let out a chuckle and put on the clothes I had tossed on the ground earlier.
Then, I sent a wave of energy at Clementine, finally giving her the opportunity to come down.
When she landed, she gave me a light punch in the side.
"Don’t surprise me like that. Now I need to wash up too."
"You do, don’t you?"
She stopped, her eyes widening.
"Was this your ploy to make me shower with you?"
Pfft...
"Wahaha... I didn’t even think about that. But you know, it’s a good idea. Wanna shower with me?"
"Humph."
She crossed her arms.
"You’re too sly. So no, suffer alone."
Without saying another word, she phased through the ground, probably heading to a hot spring.
On the other hand, I just stood there, holding my laughter and recalling the face she had just made.
Honestly.
Even if everything goes wrong in this world, I’ll make sure she keeps that smile to the end.
So with that in mind, I made my way down the mountainside as well and soon found a random cave with a boiling hot spring.
I washed up, burned my old clothes, and after dressing up, I made my way back to the top.
Clementine was still in a hot spring at the very bottom of the mountain, so I entered Adam’s hut all by myself.
Adam was eating some salad, but after I came in, he stopped and turned to me.
"You might want to sit down."
I sat down on a nearby stool.
"What’s this about?"
"It’s about your mental instability."
Ah.
Right...
That’s one of the main reasons why I came here, didn’t I?
"So Clementine told you about it."
"She did."
I let out a sigh.
"Go on then."
He straightened his back.
"You have what is called dissociation. Basically, it’s a mental state where your mind temporarily disconnects from parts of your experience. In this scenario, I’m referring to your 100 years of sensory deprivation."
"..."
I remember hearing about dissociation back in my old world.
And yet, I didn’t expect it to so perfectly line up with what’s been happening to me.
It would also probably explain why I felt nothing after finding out something so serious.
"Something like this is incurable, but it is treatable... only if the case isn’t as severe as yours. Even as the Divine Healer, I can’t heal you."
"I see..."
Adam stared at me for a moment, then stood up and poured two cups of tea.
He handed me one before sitting back down.
"The good news is that it looks like you only revert to your emotionless self once you’re in a highly stressful situation. I noticed Clementine is like the anchor that keeps you who you are, so even if there might never be a cure, having her beside you will be enough."
A faint smile appeared on my face as I processed everything he told me.
In short, I’m broken.
Though I already knew that.
But who cares?
I can still think for myself.
I can still love.
And I still have my own goals to accomplish.
As for what happens after I accomplish all my goals?
Well...
I guess I’ll just have to see.
"Thanks, Adam."
"No need to thank me. That’s why I’m here."
A brief moment of silence followed.
But I soon felt the air shift.
Adam lowered his cup.
"Now onto other matters..."
"How were you able to drink unpurified demonic blood and survive?"
