Transmigrated Into The Body Of The Cursed Prince Wife-Chapter 24: Messed with the wrong person
Chapter 24: Messed with the wrong person
Now that Ave had seen with her own eyes the kind of man Caelan was and how Selene had betrayed Lucian, her anger boiled over. She snapped back to her senses, jerking away from Caelan before landing a resounding slap across his face.
"You filthy son of a bitch! How dare you touch me with those dirty hands of yours?!" she spat, fury trembling in her voice. She immediately dropped into a boxing stance, fists clenched and ready.
The shock on Caelan’s face quickly morphed into anger, his eyes narrowing as if he couldn’t believe her audacity.
"Come at me, you bastard," Ave taunted, gesturing for him to step forward when she noticed the anger on his face. "I’ll show you just how badly you’ve messed with the wrong person. I’m going to beat you into the ground—for Lucian." Her heart pounded in her chest, but she stood her ground, recalling every bit of fight training she’d ever received on the movie set before she played the role in her first movie, which happened to be a tyrant princess with the strength of a warrior. She wasn’t going to be a helpless bystander like in that inn anymore; she was going to box the shit out of him.
Caelan’s eyes flashed with confusion and fury as he pressed a hand to his burning cheek, the sting of her slap still fresh. He couldn’t believe what had just happened or what she thought she was doing by bouncing on her feet with her fists positioned in front of her face while she moved back and forth, making jabbing gestures toward his face and huffing for breath.
Whatever she thought she was doing by bouncing ridiculously didn’t surprise him as much as the fact that she’d just hit him on a face he treasured more than anything in this world. His face was greatest his asset!
How dare she strike him? No one—not even his own mother—had ever dared to lay a hand on him, and now this whore, Selene, had the audacity to think she could get away with it?
His handsome face twisted with rage, but he forced himself to calm down, his features slowly relaxing. He realized that if he lashed out now, in his current state of arousal, it would only lead to his own undoing. It was too late to summon a courtesan to his chambers, and Selene was the only available woman, one who had always been pathetically easy to manipulate, and just like before, he knew his words would be enough to make her surrender to him.
"Selene, I know you’re still angry about what happened that day," Caelan began, adopting a tone that feigned regret. "But believe me, if I could take it back—"
Before he could finish, Ave, who had been waiting for just this moment, leapt into the air. Her foot connected squarely with Caelan’s neck in a flying kick that sent him crashing to the floor, unconscious before he could even react. Ave landed back on her feet, staring down at his motionless form in disbelief. frёewebηovel.cѳm
She hadn’t thought she could pull off that kick so easily, especially since it had been difficult for her on the movie set without the aid of wires. But who would have thought that pure, driving anger was all she needed? A smile of satisfaction tugged at her lips as she delivered one last kick to his stomach before turning to leave the room.
Ave made sure to close the door to the room behind her, and she couldn’t help but feel a surge of pride, knowing the bastard would wake up with a bad headache and body pain.
Though a small voice in the back of her mind warned of the consequences that would follow if anyone discovered she had knocked out a prince, she shrugged it off. She could easily deny it; besides, no one had seen her kick him, and if the prince was like any other man she knew, he would rather save his ego than admit a woman had knocked him out with one kick.
A vindictive smile curled her lips as she began to walk away, despite not remembering the route they’d taken to reach this room or the corridor. She wandered aimlessly around the corridors in satisfaction, humming random songs in her mind.
But her satisfaction was short-lived when she saw Catherine, the maid from earlier, approaching from the other end of the hallway. Ave’s instinct was to turn and walk in the opposite direction hoping to avoid the maid or anyone else who might report her to the Empress. But Catherine’s cold voice stopped her in her tracks.
"If you value your life, Selene, stop right there. You’ve kept the Empress waiting long enough."
Ave’s heart skipped a beat at the mention of the Empress. She hadn’t yet figured out how to escape this time period, and now she was walking straight into the lion’s den. The knowledge that the Empress and Selene were plotting against Lucian, and that she now had to pretend to be Selene in front of the Empress, made her stomach churn.
But what choice did she have? The Empress might have looked harmless in the dining hall, but Ave knew better than to underestimate a woman who had gone down in history for her evilness. She turned back to Catherine with a resigned sigh, reminding herself to play along until she could figure out a way out of this mess.
Catherine led her to a set of large, golden double doors, their ornate designs gleaming faintly in the dim light. Ave’s heart pounded in her chest as Catherine knocked.
"Enter," a soft voice from inside beckoned them in.
As the doors swung open, Ave was momentarily distracted by the sheer luxury of the chamber. The room was dim, filled with the rich scent of incense smoke curling up from several ornate burners. Gold and crimson tapestries lined the walls, and plush carpets muffled their footsteps.
’Whoa! This is what we call a Queen’s chamber. If only I could transmigrate back to 2024 with this wealth,’ she thought idly to herself, a silly smile on her face as she toyed with the idea of robbing this ancient empire and taking everything she liked back with her. ’That would have been a wonderful reward for me!’
Ave’s eyes roamed over the extravagant surroundings, momentarily forgetting her fear and the fact that she had come here to meet the Empress.
But her awe was cut short when a cold voice pierced the air.
"It seems you and Caelan will never learn to obey me until the day you both find yourselves in the gallows of shame," the Empress said, her tone laced with quiet menace as she watched the princess from her highchair with a displeased expression.
