Transmigrated Into The Body Of The Cursed Prince Wife-Chapter 262: Unseal the night creatures
Chapter 262: Unseal the night creatures
When Ave woke up again, she felt the presence before she opened her eyes. Someone was looming over her, and she dreaded opening her eyes, finding herself at the mercy of the third prince again. She refused to open her eyes; she would pretend to be asleep until he got tired and left her alone. She wasn’t mentally or physically ready to face the pervert again or fight him.
"Save your pretence for someone who can’t hear the changes in your heartbeat, Rosette. We have so much to talk about, and the sooner you open your eyes, the faster we’ll get on with this," Came Lord Edward’s nonchalant voice from the side of her bed. He wouldn’t have known she was awake because her expression didn’t give that away; it was the change he heard in her heartbeat and breathing that made him realize she was pretending to be asleep.
Ave opened her eyes. They were still red and swollen from her tears before falling asleep, but when they met Edward’s eyes, they were indifferent. She had no energy to talk to the man and only stared at him blankly.
He laughed at her reaction. "Still acting brave in the face of your captor. Tsk, now before I decide on a good punishment that will make you regret your existence and leave a mark on that beautiful skin of yours, Selene, I want you to cooperate with me on this. Your cooperation would lessen your misery." He said as he dragged a table with whips and weird-looking torture tools on it close to the bed and then took the long whip in his hand and began to examine it as he leaned against the table.
Ave knew those tools were meant to deal with her if she made things difficult for him, but she didn’t allow herself to show her horror and tried to remain indifferent as she asked, "What do you want from me?" Her voice had turned hoarse and dry. She was thirsty and starving.
Edward smirked as he looked at her, his head tilted to the side. "What we want from you is simple, Selene. You possess something great and powerful, something extraordinary that can change the world. I don’t know if you have the memories of Rosette or if you remember anything about her, but I hope you know you have her powers and essence."
"I don’t know what you are talking about," Ave said calmly. She’d heard so much about Rosette and yet knew nothing about the woman because she didn’t want to associate herself with whatever must have happened in the past.
All she wanted in this lifetime was to have a peaceful life with her family, without any complications or past histories that had nothing to do with her. But it seemed the more one tries to avoid something, the more it attracts you until you get entangled in it—just like the history of Rosette and the night creatures using the Rosa powers for their selfish gain.
Edward laughed, a humorless laugh. "Let me refresh your memories on your history. Rosette is a woman who possessed the most powerful magic in the whole world. She was said to be the queen of the witches, a woman with powers to control the world, but as we all know, she was too righteous to use her powers for greed, as it was said the Rosa must not be used for greed or personal selfish needs. Rosette took it upon herself to wipe our kind from the earth because we feed on her people’s blood. She could have killed us all if she wasn’t so stupid to fall in love. Love was her undoing centuries ago..." He said with a scoff and then continued.
"She fell for a mere mortal, Roland. Rosette had the gift of never aging, but her lover wasn’t the same. She could give him the powers of time, but her power was never meant for such use, and as righteous as she was, she decided to love him in all of his lifetimes rather than give him the gift to keep him by her side. However, Roland wasn’t satisfied with such an arrangement. He wanted to be with her, love her until forever. He refused to grow old while she remained the same, untouched by time. Rosette didn’t want to play with the dark powers that could grant him the gift of never aging, she didn’t want to taint her powers despite her love for him because she feared the aftermath of it. A witch’s power, especially that of a Rosa witch, must never be tainted because it turns into dark power and transforms them into the very creatures they despised—the dark witches. So, she righteously decided never to taint her powers.
"But Roland lacked such righteousness she possessed. He was selfish about his love for her; he refused to accept the fate of parting with her, he was willing to kill and step on anyone for as long as she was his forever. He sought out forbidden powers to be immortal. The powers of the dark moon. It was said he killed the daughter of the moon goddess to obtain it. He killed her cold-bloodedly and sacrificed her to the dark moon. Though he got what he wanted—to be with his love—but what he wanted came with a curse as old as time. He did that to be with his lover, but the moon goddess cursed him in her grief for her only daughter. She gave him a curse that would go with him for ten lifetimes without the woman he loved. His curse came with him not even recalling her as Rosette or his life then; he would suffer through that until the end of his time. So..."
Ave remained as silent as a mouse as she listened to him attentively. She had never sought out the knowledge of knowing the past because she feared if she dug deeper into the past and got to know the reason why he had been cursed to never be with her, Rosette’s memories and her life with Roland might come upon her and the curse might snatch away the life she had wanted to live with her husband now. She could seek out the knowledge and history of Roland and Rosette, but the little piece she had heard about their past had made her want to be oblivious to it.
Many had said they were never meant to be in the same lifetime due to the curse, and she refused to believe that when he had already marked her and nothing had happened yet. She watched as Edward stared down at her on the bed with a smirk playing on his face before he continued to speak.
"You’ve lived through another time before you came here, haven’t you? You are not the Selene we all know, but I don’t have any business with your life before now nor your love story with Roland and the curse upon him. You have something we need, and you will give it to us," he said as he swirled the whip around his hands.
He had sensed something different and strange about her for a while after her so called accident months ago, and if he hadn’t dug deeper into Rosette’s history with the help of his uncle, he would have never known this much about her and also realized some soul switch had happened in between at some point that the naive Selene they knew was replaced by the main soul they needed.
His sister had allowed her and Lucian to escape without sending men after them because she knew they couldn’t run forever. With the powers Lucian possessed, were she to send men after them when they escaped the capital, they would have been short of men because the beast would have killed them before they got to his woman.
They had strategized everything accordingly, and hopefully, putting a price on her head had brought her to them without them having to fight.
He watched the calm look on her face and couldn’t wait to see those calm eyes show her fear and terror. He hated women who tried to act brave when they were created to be weak, and he had held on to a grudge he would settle with her today.
The girl had been the reason his nephew was a weakling; she had enchanted the fool to the point he wasn’t giving his wife any attention to sire an heir for the throne. Perhaps if he disfigured her beyond recognition, his nephew would discard her. They didn’t need her after she served her purpose to them.
"So, you, my dear, will give us what Rosette had refused us in the past. The night creatures were bound to be superior to all creatures on earth, and only you can make that possible for us. Before we get on the bad side, you can make this less painful if you willingly chant the spell to unseal the night creatures’ world and awaken those you put to sleep," he mused as he moved closer to her with the thick whip.
Ave could feel her heart begin to slowly pick up at the sight of the thick whip in his hand and a crooked-looking dagger he held. She had no idea how to do what he wanted her to, and even if she knew how to, she would never unseal evil into the world. She’d read enough about the elder night creatures to know how vicious they were.
"I don’t know how to unseal anything, I am not Rosette," she stated gently while she tried to keep her panic out of her voice. However, her words earned her a lash.
The whip came at her unexpectedly, and when it slashed against her thighs, she bit back a cry and only groaned at the pain and the sting of her skin tearing. She glared at him heatedly, and he smiled.
"It could get worse than this, Rosette. All you have to do is unseal what you sealed, and I won’t have to do this," he warned her.
"I. Don’t. Know. How!" She gritted through clenched teeth, and immediately the words left her mouth, the whip came up again, this time stronger. She moaned and closed her eyes before opening them again. When she didn’t speak, he kept hitting her until Ave bit down so hard on her lips it began to bleed because she didn’t want to cry out. The more she refused to cry and beg him to stop, the more the lash came upon her with force.
"I’ll make you regret this...!" She cried out as hot tears came down her eyes as the pain became unbearable. Her words made him laugh out like a maniac. When she thought the torture had ended and he would leave her alone, he brought out a bottle and used the crooked dagger to cut a vein on her wrist and began to draw her blood into the bottle.
"I warned you, you could have chosen to unseal it yourself rather than allow me to go through this method. Your blood can unseal things and can awaken those you put to sleep, and if you don’t unseal it with your words, I think I would have to draw your blood every day until I have enough to perform the ritual myself," he told her in amusement as he sat on the edge of the bed to take the blood. He didn’t tell her how they could also use her blood to kill her husband. But he looked forward to the time.
When the bottle was full to the top, he closed it and then leaned down, sinking his long fangs into her wrist as the scent of her blood was so strong it made him thirsty. He’d heard so much about how the Rosa witch’s blood was the most delicious blood in the world, but to his disappointment, when he tasted it, despite its enticing scent, it tasted bitter to his tongue that he moved away and spat it to the side and wiped his lips.
"Your blood is tainted with that bastard’s!" he rebuked in disgust.
The night creatures were never the kind to drink from the were-people, as their blood was said to be bitter and sometimes poisonous to their kind. It was why she must not have recently had sex with her mate before they had her blood, and she had not because it was said the bastard was away on some trip before she was brought here.
So, her blood tasting bitter could only mean one thing, and that realization made him scowl darkly before he turned on his heels and left the room with the bottle of blood he had collected. He needed to cleanse his stomach and tongue from the taste lingering in his mouth before he told his sister about this news.
