Transmigrated Into The Body Of The Cursed Prince Wife-Chapter 292: "It’s beautiful..."
Chapter 292: "It’s beautiful..."
"Where should I put it?" she asked, smiling up at him.
Lucian bent and bowed his head. "Around my neck, tie it and button up the coat," he instructed, his face now close to her with his breath falling against her forehead because of the way he was bent.
She nodded her head in understanding and put the fabric around his neck, her fingers deliberately caressing his neck in the process and he leaned into her caressing with a boyish expression on his handsome face.
"You came all this way from your dressing room to make me do this for you?" she asked as she tied it up like he instructed, as she wasn’t familiar with the complicated outfit he wore.
"Hmm. I missed you..." he whispered thickly as his eyes trailed from her eyes to her lips, and it lingered there as her hands paused their movement on his buttons.
Without a second thought, he closed the small distance and covered his mouth against hers in a gentle kiss that slowly turned hungry and intense. He didn’t touch her with his hands but kissed her until she was breathless. Then he moved back to allow her to breathe. He didn’t move that far back because his lips were a breath away from hers.
"Your lips taste like roses today," he whispered huskily as he ran his tongue over them, as if to confirm the taste. He suckled her lower lip, nibbling gently before soothing it with a slow, wet kiss that left her mouth glistening when he pulled back.
He kissed her eyelids closed, his lips soft against her skin, then trailed kisses down her nose and across her lips. Her mouth moved, her tongue darting out to catch his, but he moved just out of reach. When she opened her eyes, she found him smiling at her.
Ave pursed her lips as she realized he was teasing her. She’d missed him so much to get mad at his teasing.
"You’ve licked away my lip color. You have red on your lips," she murmured as she reached out and used her thumb to wipe away the color from his smiling lips, but he took her thumb playfully between his teeth and used his tongue to lick the tip. "It tastes sweet. Did you put rose and honey on your lips?"
Ave had also thought the lip color tasted sweet and smelled delicious when they applied it for her. She shrugged as she wiped the color completely away from his lips.
"Perhaps that’s what it was made of. Move back so I can do your buttons." She pushed his head back to fix his button when a knock came from the door of her dressing room.
"Your Highness, is His Highness in there? He hurried away from the servants helping him to get dressed and we can’t seem to find him anywhere. His carriage has arrived!" Came the voice of an elderly man she knew as the royal butler.
Ave glanced at her husband with narrowed eyes before she replied to the man. "Yes. He is here. You can go; I will handle the rest of his dressing."
She heard the man grumble his reply before he left.
She couldn’t believe Lucian had dashed away in the process of his being dressed up to come to her with the excuse that her dressing him up would bring good luck. He had probably heard and felt her longing and ran here to meet her, but not willing to admit it, instead told her it would bring good luck.
She couldn’t help but find him adorable for doing that. He had run away like a child to come and ask her to help him dress up, even though there were countless servants who could do it for him.
Though she didn’t show it, she was basking in joy and pride internally. No words could describe how much she loved this man and how deeply she wanted him to have all the best things in the world.
For as long as she lived, she would protect him with everything she had. He was her life and her everything. She had never thought it was possible to love someone the way she loved Lucian, but she did—and, God, her love for him was far greater than anything.
Knowing that no matter their arguments, they still meant the world to each other gave her a sense of ease. When the time came for her to tell him about her pregnancy, she was certain he would forgive her for hiding it, even if he might be upset at first.
Ave buttoned his cost and fixed anything that was out of order in his attire before she looked up at his burning eyes. "It’s done." She was going to move away to make him look at himself in the mirror when he pulled her into his arms and hugged her. He crushed his arms around her and buried his head in the crook of her neck.
He didn’t say a word and only kept on hugging her. Though she wanted to close her eyes and melt completely in his embrace, she knew the time was ticking by and they needed to be on their way.
"Lucian..." she began to say, but he pulled away and smiled.
"I know. But before we leave, I have something for you," he said, and she watched as he retrieved something from his pocket.
Then, without allowing her to see what it was, he turned her to face the mirror before he brought his hands around her neck and slowly pulled up to reveal a shimmering gold chain necklace with a sparking ocean blue diamond pendant that now rested against her collar as he fastened it at the back of her neck.
Ave raised her hand to touch the blue pendant on her neck. It matched the color of her eyes.
"It’s beautiful... Is it a real diamond?" she questioned as she admired it in the mirror and how it seemed to glint under the light of the room.
"It is. I knew it would look good on you when I saw it in the jewelry shop yesterday," he remarked as he met her gaze in the mirror.
Lucian had gone out in disguise yesterday to see the progress of the repair of the damaged villages and to clear his mind in the process. He had spotted the drawing of the necklace on the wall of the shop and knew immediately it would look good on his wife because it reminded him of her beautiful eyes. He had gone in and bought it even though it cost him a big amount of gold coins as it was said to be a rare jewel.
"It suits you more than I thought. You look beautiful, my love." He complimented her as he took in her whole dress again, and Ave blushed to the roots of her hair and smiled at his compliment. It suddenly felt as if they hadn’t been avoiding each other for the past few days and everything was normal again.
He took her cloak hanging on the side and helped her into it. As he tied the front string, he looked down at her and asked,
"Are you sick, love?" His question was quiet as he searched her eyes.
"Why did you ask?" She managed a casual smile, not to give anything away. freeωebnovēl.c૦m
"This morning, I heard you throwing up in the room when I stood outside. Are you all right?"
"You came to our chamber?" she asked in disbelief as she had believed he hadn’t bothered to come to see her, even when she had longed for him last night.
In truth, he had come, but only when he was sure she had fallen asleep. He had even slept beside her and left when he felt the changes in her heartbeat and breathing this morning that indicated she was about to wake up.
He had taken a walk around the hallways of the chamber just so he could pass by again and feel close to her, but by the time he returned, he heard her coughing and throwing up, with Lydia’s voice trying to console her while patting her back.
Lucian would have gone back inside if her voice hadn’t come out clear, assuring the concerned Lydia that she was fine.
Not just that, he had realized she got easily tired these past days and fell asleep in random places in the palace. First, it was the parlor room, and next, it had been the dining hall.
"Yes, I came to our chamber," he answered her question, but before she could say anything, he continued, "If something is wrong with you, let me know. Are you sick?" He cupped her cheeks in his hands, his face a mask of worry.
Perhaps she had overworked herself and was sick but, to keep him from worrying, she hadn’t told him? Was she insisting they have separate quarters because something was wrong with her and she wanted to hide it from him?
He knew Ave never minded his clinginess before and even entertained it. He hadn’t thought about this the first time she suggested they live separately, but now that he thought about it, something wasn’t right. She was hiding something from him. Though he didn’t know what, he knew it had to do with her health.
Ave was at a loss for words as he locked his eyes with hers, waiting for her answer. She could see the worry and restlessness in his eyes.
"Aveline, don’t hide anything from me. Please tell me if something is wrong with you. I—"
"Your Highness, it’s time to leave," Rylan’s voice called from outside the room. "You’ve delayed the ceremony long enough. Please don’t keep the people and the priest waiting forever. I can’t wait to see you on the throne and make all the hardships worth it. Aveline, send him out already."
Lucian wanted to ignore him and press his wife to tell him if something was wrong, but she sighed and tugged at his hand. "We need to leave. I told you, I’m not sick; I’m absolutely fine. We shouldn’t keep everyone waiting at the cathedral."
She opened the door and gently pushed him out before following after him. Then she smiled at her brother, who was leaning against the wall of the dressing room. He was still in his Aaron form, and he smiled back at her as he reached out to pat her head.
Ave recalled how he had crushed her in a hug the day he first arrived and had almost gotten into another fight with Lucian. He had blamed Lucian and himself for failing to protect her and for allowing her to endure the torture at the hands of Caelan and Edward, who were now dead. Thank God they hadn’t started throwing punches before realizing there was a far greater threat in their lives, one that required Rylan to focus on.
Feeling Lucian’s gaze lingering on her, Ave hooked her arm around his and began to hurry him along, determined to stop him from questioning her about whether she was sick. She noticed the way he was regarding her suspiciously. He was growing more suspicious, and she needed to divert his attention from her to the urgency of getting to where he would be crowned.
