Transmigrated Into The Body Of The Cursed Prince Wife-Chapter 318: The meeting
Chapter 318: The meeting
When you give people too much freedom without discipline, chaos takes its place, and respect is lost when boundaries are ignored. A leader who tolerates disorder invites downfall. Those words resounded in Lucian’s head as he realized that was exactly what the modern Lucian had done.
Not only was he a waste of space, he had no order in his kingdom.
He had given his workers too much freedom without discipline that chaos had broken under his rule. And that, Lucian would not tolerate, and thus he sat at the top of the long table in a place they called the conference, where the meeting was about to start and his court members were preparing to present to him their proposal to make his business thrive higher again, according to Gary.
Lucian had many things he wanted to be done once this meeting was over. He had realized the easiest way to find his wife in this big world would be to get an artist to make many of her portraits and send his servants (His staff members) to put them all around the city.
He would put a price on her head, and the first person to give him a lead on where to find her would be rewarded with a chest of gold and a mansion. Lucian Xander Penn was rich, so that wasn’t going to be an issue. He would pay the man back the money and things he would spend looking for Ave by bringing back orders to the Penn Corp and making it thrive again.
It would be a fifty-fifty deal. Many of these modern people can’t seem to afford proper clothing even though they have many fascinating things, so they would jump at the price and help him find Ave. With that plan set, Lucian smiled faintly as he looked down at his ring finger, where the ring Ave had given him sat. He had no idea how it had come to be on modern Lucian’s finger, but he was glad it was, as it was a precious gift from his beloved wife.
Lucian looked up when the conference room went dim and a large screen turned on on the wall, catching him by surprise. Damnation! He thought in fascinating wonder as images of what seemed to be a large house began to display on it while a man stood before the screen explaining what it was.
From what Lucian understood so far, this company owned many lands and worked with different other businesses. What had Gary called it again? Real estate. Oh yeah, that. And in the meeting room were many men in black attires he had seen in the closet of Xander but ignored. Now, they all regarded him like a fool for wearing a sweatshirt and sweatpants to this meeting. He understood now why Gary had wanted him to change, but he didn’t care what they all thought about his attire. fɾeewebnoveℓ.co๓
He wasn’t going to wear their uniforms. Back to the meeting, the man standing before the screen was showing him a future high-tech mall and hotel they wanted him to invest in, whatever that meant. It seemed they wanted him to give out lands and money for the project to build it. They were from a retail investment firm, whatever that was, and because Penn Corp was a well-known company in the real estate industry, they wanted to partner with him in building this project.
Lucian had always been a quick learner and could understand things quite fast, faster than the average man, and just like that, he understood what these people wanted from this company and what they wanted to build. The men they had called his board members had approached him earlier and said this was important, and if they succeeded in building this project, their company would not only get back to the top but they would get the Media attentions again.
This was important to Penn Corp. Hmm. But then, "Lord, what’s your name again?" He indifferently addressed the man making the presentation, who flushed at the fact that his name had been easily forgotten by the CEO of Penn Corp.
"Lamar Griffin, Mr. Penn," he said with a tight smile that didn’t reach his eyes.
Lucian nodded. "Lord Griffin, you said this mall or whatever it is we are building has been done before but was never able to be finished because of an unfortunate hurricane event that ruined it. So what makes you think this hurricane won’t happen again, and we never get to finish it after spending so much money on it?"
Mr. Griffin, for one, did not appreciate being called a lord, and second, he had been told that Lucian Xander Penn never asked questions. Once he realized how profitable the deal was to his company, he let his lawyers and board members handle everything and then walked out of the meeting after signing the deal. Mr. Griffin had not prepared any answers for any questions he might ask because he never asked.
However, Mr. Griffin composed himself and smiled. "That won’t happen to our project. That’s why we need the Penn Corp lands located on elevated ground, far from flood zones and hurricane pathways. Not only will Penn Corp profit more than any other investors, but your name would also be among the owners."
That was quite a good deal, Lucian thought, but then his instinct told him something was not right with this. He turned to his board members, who were already giving him the eyes to see the good in it and agree with the deal.
"If we don’t profit, we will pay your company compensation for the loss," Mr. Griffin added when he noticed Lucian was in deep thought.
Gary made his way to Lucian’s side and leaned down to whisper, "It’s a good deal, boss. Elder Mr. Penn would be proud if this project works out and the company name comes up in the media. It will fix all the damage your scandal has brought."
Lucian massaged his throbbing head as he sighed. He was tired and hungrier than ever before, and the headache was persisting. He’d never been this hungry, and he knew it had to do with him being a full human male with no powers.
He had yet to start the search for the reason he was here and was stuck dealing with something he barely knew about or wanted to be a part of. He didn’t even belong here or want to belong. So why waste time when everyone had already agreed on this project? He should get it over with and focus on his purpose for being in this time and era.
"Where do I sign?" Lucian questioned Gary as he lowered his hand from his temple. When the retail investment firm’s board members heard those words, they sighed in relief as Gary presented the contract to his boss.
Lucian was given the contract and waited for the quill to be handed to him but instead he was handed something else to write with. He didn’t realize what it was until he noticed one of the board members using it to write down something. He turned it around in his hand. An inkless writing tool...
After he was done admiring the writing pen, Lucian didn’t sign the contract immediately and decided to read whatever they had written in it. He had learned from experience not to put his name down on any parchments without reading what it was, just like signing a peace treaty.
When he began to flip through the pages, one of the men in the room spoke, "Mr. Penn, there is no need for you to stress over going through the contract again. Our lawyers and teams reviewed it yesterday, and all of the agreements are in order. You just need to sign."
If Lucian heard him, he didn’t stop reading the contract, and that made sweat break out on many of the people present in the conference room as they exchanged nervous glances.
"Mr. Penn, you—"
"Let him go through it if it will put him at ease," Gary said to the man who seemed uneasy at the fact that Lucian was reading a contract himself for the first time since he had taken over the company from his father.
Gary had always tried to talk him into going through the contracts he signed, but he always said no one would cheat him as he trusted his employees to handle everything right. And many times, they had been cheated in the end in the contracts, which had been why they were going down in the business world.
