Transmigrated Into The Body Of The Cursed Prince Wife-Chapter 329: Fight for her
Chapter 329: Fight for her
Mr. Ramirez never got to finish his own bitter remarks because Lucian, who had been sitting quietly the whole time trying to understand the situation, lost his patience with the bulky fool who had called his wife a bitch not once but twice.
In a flash, Lucian was out of his seat and in front of the man. He sent him falling over his blonde wife with a punch to his stupid mouth, causing the principal to gasp in horror. Not giving the man the chance to recover himself, Lucian grabbed him by the collar and delivered repeated punches to his face until the security guards were called and they were pulled apart.
"The next time you say dirty things about my woman and my boy, I will make sure you lose all the teeth in that foul mouth of yours!" Lucian warned as he jerked away from the security guards holding him back.
Meanwhile, Mr. Ramirez could barely stand up again, bleeding all over his face as his wife looked up in at Lucian in horror and his son in disbelief.
Ave just stood there, frozen in astonishment as she stared at Lucian. His handsome face was contorted with rage, and even the security guards dared not approach him again after he flung them off like rag dolls, standing there, glaring murderously down at Mr. Ramirez.
Her traitorous heart dared to skip a beat instead of feeling anger when he called her his woman and fought for her. She knew how to handle insecure men like Mr. Ramirez—by ignoring their remarks—but she couldn’t deny the satisfaction of seeing him unable to stand from where he had fallen, whether from embarrassment or being too wounded to get up.
When he was finally able to stand, he glared at Lucian. "I’ll press fucking charges against you for assault!" Mr. Ramirez threatened as he pulled out his phone with shaky hands to call the authorities.
Even though he had been the one to provoke Lucian with his words and even bully a child, he still had the audacity to act like the victim. However, when the police arrived and realized who Lucian was—as well as the fact that Mr. Ramirez had instigated the conflict and bullied a kid—they quickly dismissed the matter without taking Lucian in. They even apologized to Lucian and Ave, informing them that Mr. Ramirez had recently been charged with assaulting his wife. They added that he was a known troublemaker who believed he could get away with anything because of his influential background.
That day, Ave made a firm decision: her son would never set foot in that school again.
By the time they left the school premises, it was already mid afternoon.
"Why didn’t you tell me about your classmates bullying you?" Ave asked Ian, who had been beaming silently with happiness. The sadness in his eyes had long disappeared after Lucian had dealt with Red’s father.
Ian’s gaze dropped to his shiny black shoes as he shrugged. "I thought I could handle it like a grown-up..." He paused with a heavy sigh, then tucked his hands into his pockets and clenched them. He would have told her if he was certain she wouldn’t get worked up and try to change his school again.
He didn’t like schools. He didn’t like the world around him or its people. He always felt like he didn’t belong in it. And most importantly, he didn’t want to be like whoever his father was—the man who had run away from responsibility. ƒreeωebnovel.ƈom
Looking up to meet his mother’s emotional blue eyes, which resembled his own, he swallowed the discomfort in his throat and said, "I don’t want to see you like that. Don’t cry over this, Mom. I didn’t tell you because I hate to see your tears and. I want to be a responsible man who takes care of you."
"You are not a man, honey," Ave replied softly, tears welling in her eyes. "Don’t try to act like one yet. You’re still a kid—my kid. Don’t try to grow up too fast." She knelt down to his level, reaching out to pull him into her arms. "Next time something like this happens, not that I’ll let it happen again, let me be the first one you tell. Don’t try to carry so much weight on your little shoulders for my sake, okay?" She stroked his cheek and pressed a kiss to his temple.
As expected, her son, who didn’t like being touched, especially in public, pursed his lips and wiggled out of her embrace. His face flushed when he noticed Lucian quietly watching from the side. "You should’ve waited until we were alone to do that, Mom," he grumbled under his breath as he hopped into the car to hide his embarrassment.
Today was one of the happiest days of his life because he’d seen Red’s father get beaten. Despite the fact that he had thighs for arms and Red had boasted that his father could never be beaten up, Ian wasn’t so sure anymore. Not that he considered Lucian his father, but he wished his mom would consider dating him.
Inside the limo, where Ian was happily browsing through the TV for a movie to watch, Ave cleared her throat and spoke to Lucian for the first time since they left the school. "You shouldn’t have done that. Not everything is handled with violence," she said, though not meaning it completely, as she could not hide the fact that she was pleased he had stood up for her and her son.
"A thank you would be better, my lo— Miss Hart." He quickly rephrased his words. He preferred her this way rather than as the guarded woman who tried to get away from him whenever he made an approach. The last thing he wanted was to call her with the endearment he used before and have her lock herself away from him again.
She smiled faintly. "You did quite a number on him, Mr. Penn. That was—"
"You can call me Lucian."
Her smile fell away immediately, and she cleared her throat, looking out the window. She did not want to get too familiar or less formal with him because it would make him believe he had a chance with her. Never. Not in this lifetime.
They rode in silence.
"Mom, can we stop to eat out?" Ian finally looked away from the TV some minutes later, where he was watching Spider-Man with Lucian, who looked completely fascinated by it, you’d think he was watching a movie for the first time and being so invested in it with furrowed brows or a grin on his handsome face.
Apart from the fact that he was watching the movie like he’d never seen one before, she’d also noticed he had taken four ice cream tubs from the freezer in his fancy limo and emptied them. She was tempted to tell him to take less of that as she saw a stack of it in the built-in mini freezer, but she held her tongue.
He consumed them almost like they were food, and he didn’t seem to realize he kept reaching for another one without taking his eyes off the screen.
The ride from the school to their estate was quite long. And they had been watching Spider-Man while she sneakily peeked at them, pretending to look out the window, until Ian spoke. For one, she couldn’t help but notice something oddly strange about how they seemed to smile alike and the shape of Ian’s nose and his. However, she quickly dismissed those absurd thoughts and the imagination of her son looking like a man he had no relationship with.
"Mom?" Ian called to get her attention again.
"Of course. If Mr. Penn wouldn’t mind dropping us at the restaurant," she said as she looked at the man who was planning to reach for another ice cream tub but stopped when he heard her words and looked at her with a smile.
"I do not mind. I am quite hungry myself. Tell Cal where you want us to eat."
She was tempted to tell him he was not invited but held back those remarks as she recalled how he had defended her and how she wanted to get used to his presence so she could stop being affected by him. She spoke into a receiver to the driver and gave him the name of where they’d eat while she tried to ignore the wide grin he was flashing her as he loosened his crooked tie around his neck to sit more comfortably and enjoy the movie with Ian.
She couldn’t help but notice the heavy veins bulging in his forearm when he raised it to his neck and back down. He had beautiful long fingers with trimmed nails, just like she liked on men, and his legs were so long that he stretched them out until they were gently grazing hers. His wide shoulders made the space seem cramped, and when her eyes returned to his long fingers, they stopped at the ring on his ring finger.
She stared at it. The gem on the top was the color of his eyes, but that wasn’t why she was staring at it. She’d seen it before—before he showed it to her at the conference. She’d dreamt about it, about her giving it to a man who was happy to receive it and had said something like, "I will never take it off."
He had claimed his wife had given it to him, but Lucian Xander Penn had never been married. Yet, she’d seen herself giving that same ring to a man in her dreams... something wasn’t right...
Before she could dwell on her thoughts and the ring, the limo came to a halt in front of the five-star restaurant she had recommended.
