Chapter 32 - Tutor
Ting!
A crisp notification sound echoed in Ariana's mind.
[New Main Task: Help Elias top the upcoming exam.][Time Limit: 4 days][Penalty: Removal of previous buffs.]
Ariana had just nestled into the snug comfort of her blanket, her body finally relaxing after a long day, when the system rudely interrupted her peace.
Her eyes scanned the notification, and a single word left her lips.
"Fuck!"
She threw the blanket off, swung her legs over the edge of the bed, and marched straight to Elias's room. Without hesitation, she knocked on the door—firm, determined.
"Come in," his voice called out.
She pushed open the door.
Inside, Elias sat at his desk, his back hunched slightly as he crammed over neatly arranged notes. The glow of his desk lamp cast long shadows, illuminating his exhausted expression. The rest of the room remained dark, the contrast between the light and shadows almost poetic.
Ariana stood in the doorway, watching him.
For a moment, nostalgia hit her like a wave. She had been in his exact position before. The late-night study sessions, the endless pages of notes, the exhaustion that seeped into the bones but had to be ignored—she knew it all too well.
She snapped out of her trance when Elias finally looked up.
"Is there something?" he asked, his voice laced with fatigue.
Ariana crossed her arms. "Do you have an exam coming up?"
"Yeah," he sighed. "Anatomy, in four days."
Her gaze sharpened. "How's it going?"
Elias's lips pressed into a thin line, as if he were reluctant to answer. His hesitation said more than words ever could.
"It's okay if you don't want to share," Ariana coaxed, her tone soft but firm. "I don't intend to intrude on your privacy, but as your guardian, if you're struggling, it's my responsibility to help you."
Elias exhaled sharply, rubbing his temple. "What would you even know about my field?"
Ariana grinned. "Try me."
Elias hesitated for a second before finally admitting, "Yeah... I'm having trouble." He slid a pile of notes across the table. "It's Anatomy. There's too much to remember."
Ariana took one glance at the notes and immediately understood the problem.
She placed a hand on her hip. "Anatomy has an insane syllabus. There's no way a normal human can memorize it all. Your best bet is to study smart, not hard—which means focusing on the topics with the highest weightage."
Elias frowned. "And how exactly am I supposed to know what's important and what isn't?"
Ariana raised an eyebrow. "Easy. Your professors would have stressed certain topics in class."
Elias looked away, shifting uncomfortably in his seat.
"I... don't know," he muttered.
Ariana blinked. "What do you mean, you don't know?"
He cleared his throat. "I, uh... sleep during lectures."
Ariana: "..."
Elias groaned. "Don't give me that look. You have no idea how tedious the lectures are."
Trust me, I do.
Ariana thought in her heart, but she held her tongue.
"Alright, fine," she said with a sigh. "Then consult a senior. Have them mark the topics for you in priority order."
Elias gave her a deadpan look. "I think you've noticed by now—I don't exactly get along with my seniors."
Ariana rubbed her temples. Of course.
"Okay, then plan B," she said, sighing in defeat. She held out her hand. "Give me your notes."
Elias frowned but obeyed, sliding them over. He watched, perplexed, as Ariana pulled out a pen and began flipping through the pages.
Her eyes moved with practiced ease.
She systematically marked the important sections, skipping unnecessary details, restructuring messy notes into concise, exam-focused points.
Elias watched in silence, his expression shifting from confusion to mild awe.

After a few minutes, she set the notes back in front of him.
"Here."
Elias picked them up, flipping through the newly annotated pages. It was... structured. Organized. Efficient.
He glanced up at her.
"How do you even—"
Ariana smirked, crossing her arms. "I told you. Try me."
Elias let out a breath, shaking his head in disbelief.
For the first time that night, he actually felt like he had a chance.
"And that's not it Mr," Ariana tapped his forehead with a pointed figure. "I have divided your syllabus into 3 parts. You will have to give me an oral exam each day. The last day you'll give me a mock exam of the whole syllabus."
Elias stared at her. "Since when did you get so nosy to meddle in other people's life?" His words were sharp, but there was a soft edge to his voice. As if he liked the fact that his sister was putting effortinto it for him. After all, she would only put effort if she cared.
"Ever since I got a week holidays and got nothing else to do," Ariana shrugged her shoulders.
