Transmigrated: The Lycan King's Pet-Chapter 118 Conflict
Chapter 118: Chapter 118 Conflict
The moment the door creaked open, I became the center of scrutiny for a second.
The elders stared at me as if I had committed the worst crime on earth.
I narrowed my eyes at them. Seeing my expression, they stood and greeted with their heads bowed low. "Alpha."
I clicked my tongue in annoyance. Wherever I go, someone always finds a way to test my anger. I strode into the room, my expression blank and cold.
After I reached my seat, which was the highest chair among the ones around the round table. I sat down, scanning the faces of each one of them.
"Why did you hold a meeting without my consent?" my voice lowered.
They returned to their seats after seeing that I had been seated.
Elder Dominic rose, his expression grim. "Alpha Damon... the Blood Moon pack had decided to go to war against us. Seeing his beta head was enough to make his blood boil." his voice dripped with sarcasm.
"Good. That means my message was received loud and clear." I tilted my head at him, my lips pulling up into a smirk.
Elder Dominic uttered curses under his breath. "You just gave them a good reason to strike!" He lost his cool. His hand slammed against the table.
My eyes fixated on those hands, if it were someone else those hands would have already been sent flying in the air.
"You know very well that if we were to war against the Blood Moon pack, we are not just fighting them alone. They have rogues under their command, and not only that... they have other Alphas’ allies, and... witches." his voice lowered at the last word.
"Exactly the reason we should go to war with them. They have been crossing my boundaries lately... don’t you think it is time we show them who the Alpha is? They have a connection with the witches... a better reason to end them." My expression turned stern, and my hands clenched tightly.
The rest of the elders closed their eyes in frustration. One of them stood up. "Even though your intentions are right... But we should look at our resources, do we really have what it takes to win this war? More than half the Alphas had chosen to join side with them. And they have witches too. This is not going to work in our favour."
"So you all are trying to say that I should have let the Beta free, after he had talked to me in a degrading way?" I slammed the table, its contents shook violently. My aura began to spill through the room, making them uncomfortable.
"Not only that... he tried to kill my Beta, and he tried to abduct my pet. So you all wanted me to close my eyes and pretend to see nothing? All because you all are scared of war?" My hand trembled with anger... Beowulf prowled inside my head, clawing its way out.
"Let me teach these elders a lesson... how dare they expect us to be stepped over?!" Beowulf pounced harder.
My eyes changed to grey. I pushed him back, and my eyes turned black again.
"I’ll take care of them." I snapped back at him, knowing that if I gave him control... the room would be painted with blood and broken limbs.
"If I had let him go... isn’t that telling them we are scared of war?" My chair screeched loudly against the ground. "And I, Damon Blackthorn, am afraid of no one!" a loud menacing growl rumbled from my chest.
The elders bared their necks in submission.
Elder Dominic wiped his face with the edge of his sleeve. "We did not say you should have spared him... no one can talk to our Alpha and launch an attack on us and be expected to go free. But we could have detained him, and used him as a leverage against the Alpha of the blood moon pack..."
My claws protruded out of my fingers, scraping the surface of the table with a loud sound. Elder Dominic quickly snapped his mouth shut.
My chest heaved in anger. I was disappointed in my elders. When did they become so scared?
"I do not regret my actions," I growled at them.
Elder Dominic inhaled deeply. "We are not saying this because we are scared. But because we know this war will be a big one just like the last one, a century ago."
His gaze softened as they landed on my furious one. "We all know how it ended. You are the last Lycan... we need to play safe. We all know what the blood moon pack is after... and that is to eliminate you and become the king of the werewolves. This is all part of his game." he paused, gauging my reaction.
"So we must play smart, you are our priority. The main reason we have held this meeting is to advise you to get a mate, a Luna who will stand beside you. Not only will you protect your bloodline... You will also become stronger after mating. You need to get a Luna as soon as possible." his voice became louder, but it dripped with pleas.
I sighed. They were right. I had said before I would get a mate. But now that the war is coming, I need to get one.
"No, you won’t! I will rip her throat out." Beowulf growled fiercely at me.
"Beowulf, Emelia is gone... we are not mating because we want to, it is because we have to protect our pack and keep our bloodline." My voice lowered, both from the guilt I felt towards Emelia and my unwillingness to mate.
"What about Ember? She has the mark on her. Let’s mate with her."
"Even though she has the mark on her... she is an omega, she cannot make us stronger. And that will spark controversies from the pack, one that is best we avoid now." My eyes darkened slightly, as my brows furrowed in confusion.
A confusion between what my heart wants and what my brain knows. This feeling... I last had this feeling a century ago... does this mean I truly love Ember?
Was it her... or the mark she carried? And why did I care which it was?
