Transmigrated: The Lycan King's Pet-Chapter 54 Sharing a ride
Chapter 54: Chapter 54 Sharing a ride
After I finished talking with the pack’s soldier, I made my way towards Damon.
I stood near the edge of the square, pretending to be busy with my sleeves while sneaking glances toward Damon.
He hadn’t said a word to me since the day he punished me.
His glare earlier had felt like a blade skimming across my skin. And now, he kept his distance, his expression unreadable as always, like a storm cloud just waiting for the right wind to burst.
Alaric approached with the horses and gestured for me to mount.
My brows furrowed, "Aren’t we using the car?"
"Unfortunately no, someone is in the right mood for horse riding." He gestured towards Damon.
My face fell, ’Is this some sort of punishment or what?’
"You look pale, are you okay?" Alaric asked.
"I don’t know how to ride a horse," I closed my eyes, pressing my lips into a thin line.
"Oh..." Alaric scratched his head as he turned to Damon, who was already mounting his midnight horse.
Seconds passed, and Alaric hadn’t said anything. It was like he was lost in thoughts, but his face kept making different expressions.
’Has he gone nuts?’
He sighed. "Damon said you will be riding with him."
My mouth opened in surprise, ’He wants me to ride with him? Hell nah!’
"But you haven’t spoken with him yet."
"I just did, and he said you should hurry, or else you will walk to the castle." He gave a pitiful smile.
I stood dazed. I looked down at my injured hand. I wouldn’t be able to ride a horse even if I wanted to try.
"You should hurry," Alaric said in a hushed voice, as he mounted a brown-red horse.
Hesitantly, I walked across the damp soil to him. I craned my head up to look at him. Yeah, he sure looked majestic in those black clothes, and his presence was so regal with him sitting on his horse. His black hair was a little damp, and some strands fell over his black eyes.
"Waiting for eternity to come," his eyes narrowed at me.
I gulped, my face flushed as I realized I had been gawking at him.
He casually reached his hand to me. My slender fingers trembled as they took his hand. A yelp escaped from my lips when he pulled me up like a ragdoll.
I sat in front of him, my body stilled, as I could feel the heat radiating from him. His scent filled my nostrils. My heart pounded like it had gone berserk. I leaned forward to create space between us.
However, I felt his body inching closer and closer. "At this rate, you might sit on my horse’s head." His hoarse voice echoed in my ears, his warm breath brushed over my neck, sending jolts of shivers down my spine.
I froze, as if I had turned into a sculpture. "Come closer," he ordered.
I bit my lower lips as I shifted backward.
"Stop biting." His hot breath fanned my skin, this time it felt closer and hotter.
’Fuck this. My heart will jump out of its cage at this rate.’
I released my lips, then I shifted back again. I could feel the warmth coming from his body.
I closed my eyes, as I felt his intense gaze on me. His hands hovered above my hips as he held the reins. I felt butterflies in my stomach when he suddenly inched closer. My back rested on his hard-toned chest.
Once everyone was ready, we began our journey back. The forest around us whispered and rustled, the dirt path damp beneath the hooves of our horses.
"I didn’t mean to bite you," I muttered under my breath after an hour of awkward silence.
He didn’t respond. His eyes remained fixed ahead.
I tried again. "If you didn’t want me that close, you should’ve said something. It’s not my fault your lips got in the way of my teeth."
I didn’t need to look behind to know his jaw was tightened.
Okay. That got a reaction.
"I was investigating."
"So dramatic. You could have moved away with your fast reflexes. Why didn’t you?"
"I was in shock."
"Oh, you were?"
"I don’t want to talk about it," he growled.
"Okay," I said with a pursed smile.
He exhaled sharply through his nose, causing my shoulders to shudder. "You’re lucky I haven’t made you sleep in the stables."
"You made me run around the training ground. Wasn’t that enough?"
He didn’t reply. His grip over the reins tightened slightly.
The rest of the ride passed in uneasy silence, and the feeling of something hot poking me from behind. His hot body made it impossible to have a moment of comfort. I tried to move away.
"Stay still, if you don’t want me to throw you off the horse," he warned.
I sat still with my back straightened.
The trees blurred past me. The wind whipped against my face.
Why was he still so mad? I hadn’t really hurt him. I thought we were... something close to tolerable. But now, it felt like I was back to being the outsider—the girl chained at his feet, not the one who helped save a pack.
As we neared the forest’s edge, a familiar scent reached us, and I stiffened. My gaze darted ahead—and sure enough, standing just before the castle gates with a sweet, false smile was Alpha Allison.
"Are you kidding me?" I whispered.
She stood in a long maroon cloak, her hair braided elegantly to one side. "Alpha Damon," she greeted. "I apologize for the intrusion. My warriors and I are too tired to make the journey back. We hoped... perhaps you could offer us a room for the night."
Her jaw tightened. She couldn’t believe I was able to sit on the same horse with Damon.
Damon’s eyes narrowed, but before he could speak, Elder Dominic cut in. "They traveled a long way to help during the flood. Letting them rest for a day is the least we can do." He gave Damon a pleading look.
