Transmigrated To Ancient Time: Thrive With An Auction System!-Chapter 280: Winter Disaster ( 3 )
Meeting his wife’s worried gaze, Fu Chen’an eased his expression and reached out to hold her hand. They didn’t say a word and walked over to the boulder under the tree.
As they sat down, he said, "Wife, there is a landslide near the river. I will go with the soldiers for a rescue. This month, I won’t be able to go back home."
Yao Zhi already knew that her husband would be sent on a mission the moment she saw his frown. Saying that she wasn’t worried about him was a lie. But she couldn’t stop him from going.
After a long silence, she finally nodded and asked, "Husband, is there anything I can help you with?"
Fu Chen’an observed his wife’s expressions and knew that she was worried.
He thought for a moment and said, "Due to the landslide, many people have lost their homes and land. If possible, can you help me prepare medicinal herbs for cold and fever?"
"Also, we might need grains to set up a porridge stall," he added.
Yao Zhi nodded and asked, "When will you leave?"
"The army will leave tonight, but I will leave with the supplies team in three days."
Since there was still time, Yao Zhi agreed readily. "I will send over the grains and medicine in two days." 𝕗𝚛𝚎𝚎𝐰𝗲𝗯𝗻𝚘𝚟𝚎𝗹.𝕔𝐨𝕞
After she said this, she took out the food from her system’s storage, using the empty bamboo basket as a cover. She handed a pair of chopsticks to her husband and said, "You should eat first."
Fu Chen’an accepted them and started to eat. Perhaps due to his harsh training, he had lost some weight. But despite his sharper jawline, his eyes were bright, and his posture was more upright and strong.
Noticing that his wife was staring at him, Fu Chen’an’s ears turned red. He swallowed his food and asked, "Wife, why are you looking at me like that? Is there something on my face?"
Yao Zhi shook her head and replied, "I just miss you."
Taken aback by her straightforward confession, Fu Chen’an was speechless. It took him a while to regain his composure before replying softly, "I miss you too."
Hearing this, Yao Zhi smiled, and her mood brightened. She finally picked up her chopsticks and started to eat.
Before leaving, she held her husband’s hand and asked, "Husband, do you still have water and snacks? Do you want me to prepare more?"
Unwilling to tire his wife, Fu Chen’an shook his head and replied, "I still have a lot of snacks. Don’t tire yourself."
Yao Zhi nodded but said nothing. They exchanged a few more words before she rode her donkey and returned to the village.
Standing there, Fu Chen’an stared at his wife’s back longingly. It had been a long time since he last saw her. He wanted to hold her in his arms, but with people around, he had to hold back.
Feeling heavy in his heart, he took a deep breath to calm down before returning to the barracks.
After returning home, Yao Zhi locked her room and opened the system’s shop.
While she could use the grains and vegetables produced in her system’s farmland, she couldn’t use the wild ginseng and wild lingzhi grown in her system’s grassland.
Perhaps because of the spiritual energy inside her system, those wild ginseng and wild lingzhi had grown significantly.
Even without deep knowledge about medicinal plants, just by looking at the size, she knew that they were at least more than 2,000 years old. If she brought them out, she might cause a disaster for her husband and her people.
She checked the medicinal herbs sold in the system’s shop and saw that most of them were dried and of good quality. Since she didn’t know about TCM, she could only ask the physician for a prescription.
After she made up her mind, she took out a wild ginseng from her system’s grassland, broke the tips of the roots, and wrapped them with her handkerchief. When she was done, she put the ginseng back into the grassland and kept the handkerchief in her sling bag.
Afterward, she put on her cloak and left her room.
Seeing her leaving again, Ling Shi’er asked, "Master, are you going out again?"
Yao Zhi nodded and replied, "I’m going to visit Physician Yu."
Hearing this, he observed her complexion before asking, "Master, are you feeling unwell? How about I go invite him?"
Waving her hand, Yao Zhi smiled. "No need." After a moment of pause, she added, "If you feel bored, you can come with me. Staying at home all the time is not good for your mental health."
Even though he didn’t understand what his master meant by mental health, Ling Shi’er still nodded and followed her.
Physician Yu was the only barefoot physician living at the edge of the village, near the mountain foothills. His house was located opposite Yao Zhi’s home, so it took them forty minutes to reach the house.
When they arrived, Physician Yu was grinding dried medicinal herbs on the balcony.
Seeing them coming, he walked over and opened the door. "Yao-shi, what brought you here today? Did your old illness flare up again?"
Yao Zhi smiled and said, "Physician Yu, after drinking the medicine from you, I’m already much better. I came to ask a favor from you."
Hearing this, Physician Yu nodded and said, "Please come in."
After they took their seats, he poured a cup of tea for them and asked, "Yao-shi, what can I do for you?"
Before she told him her intention for visiting, she took something out from her sling bag. She unwrapped the handkerchief and showed several pieces of ginseng roots to him.
At first, Physician Yu was confused by her action. But when he took a closer look at the items she brought, his eyes widened in surprise.
He reached out and asked, "Yao-shi, can I have a look at these?"
Yao Zhi smiled and placed the handkerchief on the table.
