Transmigrated with my corruption system-Chapter 86: Life, Taken and Given
Barely a moment after the words parted from her lips, a smile carved across Ulric’s face.
"Finally!" he muttered, as his figure sank into the shadows, appearing right beside Lyra. Before she could even understand what was happening, he grabbed her by the waist and made his way back to his quarters, a glint of anticipation flashing across his eyes.
The crowd behind stared blankly, still reeling from the shock of Ulric easily defeating a renowned D-rank powerhouse. Now another slew of questions raced at the back of their minds.
Who was Amber... and why did the young lord care so much about her?
At the side, the elders were a bit perplexed as well, but at this point, they didn’t dare question his decisions.
Watching him leave, they dispersed the crowd, leaving Aelira behind as she stared at his retreating figure.
Before she finally stepped out of her daze.
Hmph! She breathed, her fingers clenching tightly. Did he think he could get rid of her that easily!?
She mused before rushing after him, trying to suppress the glint of curiosity in her eyes.
Ever since their battle, his face had remained relatively indifferent throughout, only fluctuating slightly when he won and began teasing her.
Who was so important to him that he had grown excited merely by the mention of her name?
She mused, her thoughts fueling her curiosity while sparking a tinge of jealousy.
She couldn’t wait to find out.
Unaware of the conflicted thoughts of a certain girl, Ulric Shadow teleported repeatedly and sprinted simultaneously between jumps, making his pace terrifying.
Within a few seconds. He burst open the doors to his quarters as he walked in.
Lyra, beside him, only blinked rapidly, her gaze shifting between him and the familiar room around them.
One moment they had been outside in the open Greyson Residence...The next, they were inside.
Even at her top speed, it would have taken her a couple of minutes, yet he had done the same in just a few seconds. The speed required to execute such a feat was nothing short of stupendous.
Each day, his strength continued to grow, leaving her further and further behind.
But that didn’t matter now as she followed behind Ulric while they approached the cocoon.
The Sisters of Death stood at the side, equally entranced. In all their years, they had never seen anything like this, which caused them to glance toward the black-robed figure as he approached. Mysterious. Truly mysterious.
Staring down, Ulric watched as microfractures raced across the cocoon, slowly spreading around its surface before splitting into large cracks.
From within. A resplendent green light shot out in beams, followed by a green mist rich with vitality.
Just inhaling a single whiff caused everyone’s expressions to brighten instantly.
Any exhaustion they had accumulated was washed away in an instant.
"What is happening?" Tara muttered.
Before she could even finish her words, the cracks widened further, before finally shattering.
The green resplendent light shot into a splendiferous beam that encapsulated the entire room for a moment, blinding everyone briefly.
When it receded, gasps slipped from Lyra and the Sisters of Death as they stared at the newly emerged figure lying still, her eyes tightly shut. A faint smile spread across Ulric’s face.
She had... changed. Her once long dark hair had grown chestnut, streaked with strands of green woven between. Crouching low, his hand moved to stroke it, causing his eyes to widen slightly.
It felt even silkier and smoother. Her face remained relatively the same, but her beauty had grown, an ethereal sheen wrapping around her body, almost giving the illusion of an unattainable existence.
Before he could continue his inspection, her eyes fluttered rapidly. Before finally snapping open.
Large brown eyes filled with innocence, now gleamed with a luminous shade. Sitting upright, her eyes blinked in confusion, taking everything in before she looked down at her palms as she mumbled beneath her breath.
"I-I’m... alive?"
This... she didn’t understand. Just as she was about to sink into confusion, her brows eased slightly as the memories slowly surfaced at the back of her mind.
She didn’t know how...But he had somehow managed to keep her alive. Turning slowly, her eyes locked with his crimson gaze as her mouth opened to speak. But no words came out.
Before, she had felt a connection with him.
But now...It had grown monstrously stronger.
Just as she froze in thought, Ulric grabbed her, pulling her into his embrace as her scent wafted toward him, the smile on his face widening.
Before, her aura had been calm and gentle.
Now, it had grown even more serene.
Her fingers moved to clutch his back tightly as Amber sank into his chest before muttering,
"T-thank you."
"No need," Ulric breathed, pulling her tighter than ever as he exhaled slowly.
Feeling Lyra join in as she was unable to restrain herself any longer. For a moment, he had almost thought he had lost her.
Taking a step back, he cast a deep appraisal over her while Lyra moved closer, examining her repeatedly, staring at her torso and poking it lightly.
Before, a massive slab of ice had been impaled through her...Now it was gone.
And there wasn’t even a mark left behind.
It was all simply too wondrous, as Lyra finally sighed in relief.
[Amber.]
[Level 1] 𝐟𝐫𝕖𝗲𝘄𝚎𝗯𝕟𝐨𝕧𝐞𝚕.𝕔𝕠𝐦
[Earth Elemental]
[Threat Level: Extremely Low]
"Huh?" Ulric breathed, staring at her panel.
She seemed to have regressed back to Level 1. But strangely, her aura was stronger than before.
And more than that, where her talent was supposed to be, there was now...Earth Elemental?
What was that supposed to mean? Lifting his gaze, he could already see Lyra and the Sisters of Death staring intently while firing a barrage of questions. Until Lyra finally asked,
"How do you feel?"
"I feel great," Amber chirped excitedly. Far better than she ever had before.
"I can feel myself in sync with the earth around me, the life pulsing within it... its will..." she muttered, before noticing the growing confusion in their eyes.
"How about I show you?"
Nodding slightly, they watched as she crouched to the ground, holding her hand above it.
A few seconds passed as nothing happened.
Just as doubt was about to surface. The ground trembled slightly as rocks and rubble shifted.
When the dust settled, Lyra’s mouth gaped open while the Sisters of Death’s eyes widened as they stared at the sight before them.
Where Amber’s hand hovered, vines burst from the earth, growing at unnatural speed. Before long, a small thicket had formed around her. But she still wasn’t done.
Her slightly fatigued voice echoed softly.
"I can call upon life..." she muttered, staring at the plants.
Before her expression dimmed slightly as she continued,
"And take it..."
As she spoke, her outstretched palm slowly clenched. Instantly, the small thicket withered as green energy seeped from it, gathering into a shimmering green sphere that settled in her palm as she played with it curiously.
"Woah," Lyra gasped, her blue eyes fluttering rapidly.
The Sisters of Death were no different as they stared in shock.
But just as they thought they had seen everything, Amber’s voice echoed again. This time sending chills down their spines.
"And give it to another."
As the words left her lips, her other palm lifted into the air. The shards of rock lying around rose in response to her will.
With a flick of her wrist, they melded together, forming a small stone golem, roughly forearm-sized.
Walking toward it, the smile on her face widened before she pressed the ball of green light into it.
Instantly after, Its eyes lit up with a green glow. Before it rose to its feet in response to her command. It moved around briefly, before collapsing a few seconds later.
An exhausted breath parted from Amber’s lips. Leaving Lyra and the Sisters of Death staring blankly, shock rooting them in place. Even now, the ability was already terrifying.
But in the future, when she grew stronger, It could become truly life-changing.
Snapping out of her daze, Lyra rushed toward Ulric, tugging at his arm, unable to suppress her curiosity as she asked,
"W-what... did you do to her?"
Seeing the smile spreading across Amber’s lips as her face lit up with joy. Ulric sighed softly.
"I... fulfilled a promise."
