Transmigrating as an Extra Third-Rate Villain-Chapter 316:Quake [5]
As Ren allowed himself to float downwards into the seemingly endless pool of lava, the thought suddenly came to mind.
Was it her...Ruby?
Or, was it, by a very small chance, Irene?
Those two were the only fire mages who could have created this pool of lava, so it had to be one of them.
Or, perhaps his body simply had the ability to resist lava?
No...something important like that would have been mentioned in his stats menu.
Then, it hit him.
What if this wasn’t lava?
There would be no valid reason that Ren should be able to see through lava as its thickness was far too great.
If he could see through lava, then he should be able to see through walls and other materials...but he can’t. Find your next read on novelbuddy
What’s something related to lava that Ren can stay in infinitely without being hurt and see through perfectly?
Water.
He wasn’t in lava...but water.
The pool was made to look like lava from the outside...but it was water all along.
And there was only one water mage in the vault.
However, that then begged the question...who could make water look like lava?
The disguise of lava was so perfect that it had managed to fool Ren’s perfect eyesight.
Coming to somewhat of a conclusion, Ren sighed before looking downwards and letting himself fall deeper into the pool of water.
Kicking his feet up and down, Ren swam deeper downwards into the pool, not worried anymore about the possibility of him being hurt.
As Ren swam deeper and deeper down the pool of water, the pool got thinner and thinner as the walls came closer to his body.
Finally, as the walls completely surrounded Ren’s figure, forcing him to put his feet together to fit, the end came into view.
The ocean floor.
This pool of water, disguised as lava, led from the vault into the lake around the academy.
After confirming that it was the ocean floor, Ren sighed at the sight of algae, seaweed, and even some roaming fish.

Mind you, there was not a single place in this long tunnel that led from the vault to the ocean floor with air.
Anybody besides Ren would have died due to lack of oxygen mid-way through this journey.
Whoever created this tunnel must have known that Ren could stay in the water without breathing.
Or...they were trying to kill him in the most painful way possible.
Plunging into a pool of lava would lead to you being knocked unconscious or dying in a matter of seconds...but drowning was far worse.
You would have to swim around for minutes and slowly accept your death, knowing there was nothing you could do to stop it.
Shaking his head, Ren tightened his body, barely fitting in the tunnel at this point until he finally escaped.
As he swam out of the tunnel, the entire lake came into view with all the varying species of fish and underwater plants.
Too many of them were here, though...
Looking up, Ren quickly realized that he was back under the academy island, but as he glanced around and saw thousands of fish swimming around, he was at a loss for words.
Why were there so many fish... here?
For them, it would be completely dark and pitch-black as the island above was blocking the sun, so they were just swimming around randomly without being able to see.
Yet...they choose to come here?
What could have happened underwater in the lake to force so many fish here!?
At that moment, a sudden purr sound from his hoodie as Ren felt his cat wake up and paw at his neck.
...Was it still here?
Throughout that entire fight where he had almost died, it had been fast asleep, probably having the damn dream of its life.
Yet...now, when it’s all over, and he’s escaped, it wants to wake up!?
And, pissing Ren off even more, the cat started throwing its paw at his neck as if saying, "Get me out of the water, now!"
Not having the energy nor time to respond, Ren sighed before following the cat’s order and swimming out from under the academy island.
Seeing the underwater area, the island was desolate and devoid of any fish despite being brighter and having more plants to eat. Ren was even more confused, but he ignored it.
Alternating gazes between the distant capital city and the academy island right above, Ren decided to just head back to the academy.
After all, he had two people to pick up.
...

...
Back in the vault, Lily, Alya, and Ruby were rushing over to the corner of the room, where Zeng and an unknown figure were.
Irene, alternating glances between Liam and the others who were still fighting, confusedly sighed before following after them.
Seeing Zeng lying on top of the motionless figure, the three girls sighed before pointing their wands downwards.
Just as Irene arrived behind them, three gusts of wind appeared below Ruby, Lily, and Alya, instantly pushing them into the air.
Flying over the barricade of shelves, the three girls landed around the figure and simultaneously pointed their wands at him.
Letting out a dry cough and surprising the three girls, Raven awkwardly revealed his presence before pointing at Zeng.
"He’s on our side...I think!"
At the same time, all the attacks that the main cast had fired suddenly hit Ren’s previous location, causing the entire vault to start trembling as if it weren’t going to collapse on itself.
Being the closest to Ren’s previous location, Kazuki and Kevin awkwardly stood on the spear while watching the figure they were chasing after dropping into the pool of lava.
Turning to face Kazuki, Kevin glanced at the pool of lava and at the massive crater, covering at least 1/8 of the entire vault, before saying.
"Is he dead...?"
Looking at the massive crater that had been formed as a result of all their attacks combined, Kazuki sighed.
"I-I honestly can’t say."
