Chapter 1941: Chapter 1948: Rescuing Yu’er (Part 5)

Cai Wei finished brewing the medicine and entered to see the father-son pair embracing warmly. She laughed gently and said, "Come, Yu’er, it’s time for your medicine."

Upon hearing this, Nangong Yi lowered his head to kiss his son’s forehead and pulled Yu’er out from his bosom. This was Yu’er’s first time taking medicine since his birth. Growing up in Space, his body was sturdier than other children, never having fallen ill. However, due to wearing only a single layer of clothing last night and sleeping for so long in the cold cellar – had it been any other child, they would’ve frozen to death or suffered severe frostbite – he only caught a slight wind chill, which was fortunate.

"So bitter—"

Yu’er took one sip, and his little face immediately scrunched up in a knot, refusing to take a second sip no matter what. Despite Nangong Yi and Cai Wei’s coaxing, it wasn’t until Cai Wei promised to make him fruit and milk candy that the little bun reluctantly drank the bowl of blackish liquid with a frowned face.

After drinking the medicine, Cai Wei quickly handed over the pitted fruits she had prepared beforehand, alleviating Yu’er’s bitterness. Seeing that the child had finished the medicine, Nangong Yi left Yu’er to Cai Wei and hurried to prepare breakfast...

Today is the fifteenth day of the first lunar month, the Lantern Festival.

Early in the morning, Juhua happily got up and took Xiao Kui out for a leisurely walk.

Nowadays, she’s about to get a divorce, seemingly able to remain single for life, so her mood couldn’t be better. She was filled with radiant energy, unaffected even by the previous incident at Duke Li Guo’s Mansion, and her outings for shopping have become increasingly frequent.

Shen Luming and his wife had already decided to resign and move to a distant place after the first lunar month ends. They no longer cared whether their daughter’s frequent outings would affect her maiden’s reputation. After all, they planned to start a new life where no one knew them, so why restrain their daughter and let her be unhappy?

Juhua, accompanied by Xiao Kui, didn’t bother with a horse carriage, choosing to walk to the street instead.

Today’s street was exceptionally bustling; residents from nearby counties and towns of the Capital dragged their children to see the lanterns and lion dances. People crowded everywhere, not even horse carriages could pass through. Street vendors lined both sides, almost pushing their stalls into the middle of the street, with sounds of greetings, business haggling, and negotiations rising in waves, so lively.

As Juhua walked with Xiao Kui, occasionally buying an item or two, it didn’t take but a morning for Xiao Kui’s bosom to be brimming with things.

At this point, Juhua felt slightly tired. As they passed by a famous restaurant, she told Xiao Kui, "Make a trip home to drop off the items. I’ll wait for you in front at ’Yu Family’s Private Restaurant’, or else carrying all these things will be inconvenient while shopping this afternoon."

Concerned, Xiao Kui asked, "Miss, are you okay on your own?"

Juhua brushed off the concern, saying, "Why wouldn’t I be? What’s there to worry about? Stop fussing, off you go."

With Juhua’s urging, Xiao Kui had no choice but to carry the items back to Shen Mansion. Juhua, left alone, went into Yu Family’s Private Restaurant, booking a private room on the second floor, where she could dine while watching the street scene.

After ordering the dishes, Juhua asked the shop assistant to bring a pot of tea first. After a morning of walking, her throat was parched, and she didn’t care whether the takeaway tea was refined, just poured it down her throat to quench her thirst.

After gulping down a stomachful of tea, Juhua wiped her mouth and exclaimed, "Refreshing!" then leisurely enjoyed the street view outside the window.

After a while, the dishes arrived, with the color, aroma, and taste perfect, making Juhua’s appetite grow. She picked up her chopsticks, ready to indulge, when suddenly a familiar voice came from outside: "Mr. Huo is so eager to have someone summon the Za Family, is there some good news?"
