Transmigration: The Tyrant General Can Hear My Thoughts-Chapter 40 - Forty
The other three maids gasped loudly and jumped backward, pressing themselves against the stone wall. They stared at Camilla in absolute horror.
Camilla stood perfectly still. Her dark red dress had barely moved. She slowly lowered her right hand to her side. She looked at the staggering maid. Camilla’s eyes were completely dead, cold, and utterly empty of any human emotion. She looked at the girl like she was looking at a piece of garbage.
"Is this what Mrs. Ida taught you to do?"
Camilla spoke. Her voice was not loud, but it was freezing cold. It sounded like ice cracking over a deep, dark lake. "Do you just stand in the hallways and spread filthy lies about your masters?"
Camilla took one slow step forward. The bold maid flinched and took a step back.
"Do you not have any respect for the Lady of the house?" Camilla asked, her voice dropping into a deadly, quiet whisper.
The bold girl lowered her hands from her red cheek. Her face was twisted in pain, but she was still foolishly arrogant. She thought she was safe because the General never loved his wife.
"But he fell from your—" the girl tried to speak again, wanting to finish her terrible accusation.
Camilla did not even let her finish the first word.
She raised her left hand this time. She swung it back and landed another incredibly heavy, brutal slap directly on the right side of the girl’s face.
SMACK!
This slap was even harder than the first one. It carried the full weight of Camilla’s total annoyance with this entire world.
The girl cried out loudly in pain. Her head snapped violently in the other direction.
The massive force of the second slap ruptured the small blood vessels inside the girl’s nose. A thick, bright red drop of blood immediately leaked out of her nostril. The blood ran quickly down her lip and dripped onto the crisp white collar of her maid’s uniform.
The bold girl’s knees buckled completely. She collapsed onto the hard marble floor, falling heavily onto her hands and knees. She stared at the drops of her own blood hitting the polished stone. She finally realized she had made a massive, life-threatening mistake.
Camilla looked down at the bleeding girl crawling at her feet.
"Insolent fool," Camilla spat the words out with pure disgust. "A lowly cleaning maid standing in the foyer, telling her master what to do and who to sleep with. How incredibly stupid of you. Do you think I am a weak little child you can bully?"
The bold girl looked up. She saw Camilla’s terrifying, dead eyes. She saw the absolute lack of mercy on the Lady’s face. The girl finally broke. Her arrogance shattered into a million pieces.
The girl raised her shaking, bloody hands. She began to cry heavily.
"Please!" the maid began to beg, her voice thick with tears and blood. "Please, My Lady! I am so sorry! Please forgive my wicked mouth! I was wrong! Please do not hit me again!"
Camilla stared down at the crying, begging girl.
Camilla did not care about her apologies. She did not feel sorry for her bleeding nose.
Looking at this stupid, gossiping maid, Camilla suddenly remembered her ultimate failure yesterday. She remembered standing on the balcony. She remembered the harsh wind, the dark clouds, and the massive lightning strike that had failed to take her back to her original world. She remembered her lost millions. She remembered her ruined vacation in the Maldives. She remembered that she was completely, hopelessly trapped inside the pages of a stupid romantic novel, surrounded by idiots.
A dark, boiling rage exploded inside Camilla’s chest. All her pent-up anger, all her deep frustration about not leaving the book, poured directly into her hands.
Camilla leaned down. She grabbed the thick, brown fabric on the front of the crying girl’s uniform. She gripped it tightly in her fist and hauled the girl’s upper body slightly off the floor.
The girl shrieked in terror.
Camilla raised her right hand high into the air.
Smack!
She slapped the girl again.
"I am trapped here!" Camilla yelled in her mind, her internal voice screaming with pure rage.
Smack!
Another heavy slap landed across the girl’s cheek. The girl wailed loudly, trying to cover her face with her arms, but Camilla easily knocked her weak arms away.
"My money is gone!" Camilla thought furiously.
Smack!
She hit her again. Blood splattered across the girl’s white apron.
Camilla was completely ruthless. She was pouring all her absolute hatred of this fictional world directly onto the face of this foolish girl. 𝐟𝕣𝕖𝐞𝐰𝕖𝚋𝐧𝗼𝚟𝐞𝕝.𝗰𝐨𝐦
She slapped her again and again, left and right. Her hands moved like a machine. She was hitting the girl so hard and so repeatedly that she was almost damaging the girl’s facial bones permanently. The girl’s face was quickly turning into a swollen, bruised, bloody mess.
The other maids in the hallway were screaming and crying in absolute terror, but none of them dared to step forward to stop the furious Lady of the house.
The maid sobbed loudly, choking on her own blood, her head jerking from side to side with every brutal strike.
Camilla raised her right hand high into the air once more. She pulled her arm back, ready to deliver a final, devastating blow that would knock the girl completely unconscious.
"Camilla?"
A single word rang out through the grand, echoing foyer.
It was a deep, rough, very familiar voice.
Camilla paused instantly. Her body froze like a statue.
Her right hand remained hovering high in the air, right over the bleeding, crying girl’s ruined face. Her fingers were slightly curled, ready to strike.
She kept her hand raised. She slowly relaxed her grip on the front of the girl’s uniform, letting the maid slump back down onto the marble floor.
Camilla took a slow, deep breath, calming her racing heart. She slowly turned her head to look over her shoulder, searching for the person who had called her name.
