Transmigration:The Villain Wants A Happy End Without His BeastHusbands-Chapter 141: I Owe You Nothing
By the time they returned to the inn, night had settled completely.
The sky stretched wide and clear, stars scattered like fragments of light, the full moon hanging low, almost too close.
Ningyan exhaled softly. ...Meishan.
His steps slowed slightly. How was he supposed to explain this?
’By the way, I’m married to someone else now.’
He pressed his lips together. Even he hadn’t fully processed it yet.
Jun Haoxuan walked ahead, completely unbothered as if nothing had changed. Wuhen lingered at Ningyan’s side. Close and quiet.
The moment they crossed into the compound, Ningyan made a decision.
He moved quickly. Closing the distance between himself and Haoxuan. "Wait."
Haoxuan stopped. Those golden reptilian eyes fixed on him.
Ningyan didn’t hesitate. "I’d rather you don’t tell Meishan...About us."
He paused, looking slightly more awkward. "And the... energy. Let’s keep that between us. Okay? I will... tell him myself."
Haoxuan looked at him longer than necessary and gave a small nod. "Very well."
Ningyan exhaled in relief then immediately turned away. Before anyone could say anything else, he leapt effortlessly. Landing on the roof then slipping into the balcony like he belonged to the night itself.
And just like that he was gone.
Silence settled.
Wuhen and Haoxuan remained, watching the empty space he’d left behind.
Then Haoxuan moved. But Wuhen spoke first.
"Is there something I should know... Jun Haoxuan?"
Haoxuan stopped. But didn’t turn. "I don’t believe I owe you an explanation."
Wuhen let out a soft chuckle. And was suddenly in front of him blocking his path. There was no smile this time. His red-gold eyes glowed faintly in the lantern light.
"You’re here for the dragon crystal. And it’s inside him." His voice dropped sharply. "I just want to know one thing. Do you intend to harm him?"
Haoxuan looked at him. And for a brief moment defeat flickered in his expression. Then it vanished. He stepped forward forcing Wuhen to either move or be pushed aside.
"I said," he replied calmly, "I owe you nothing."
And he walked past him like Wuhen wasn’t worth stopping for.
Wuhen didn’t move immediately. He stood there watching Haoxuan’s back. His head tilted slightly, his eyes narrowing. "I’ll find out myself."
"Good luck." Haoxuan didn’t even look back. He ascended the stairs and disappeared into the building.
Jun Haoxuan moved through the quiet corridor of the inn, his steps steady, measured.
It was clearly a high-end establishment. The silence was soft, refined, broken only by distant music and the faint, drifting scent of rich food. From the way no outsiders wandered the halls, it was obvious the entire place had been rented out.
His mind lingered on the past few hours.
When he first arrived in the Water City district, he had felt it. The crystal faint and distant, calling to him.
By the time he reached the Phoenix Clan territory, that presence had sharpened.
And then, there was the stench. Demonic energy. It had been coming from the manor. From the demon tools stored within.
He had not hesitated. Madam Qin. Her bloodline. Her allies. All of them had chosen to stand with Lan Yunlai. That alone sealed their fate.
Jun Haoxuan had wiped them out without a second thought.
Even on his way to the clan, he had slaughtered beasts who wielded demon tools. To him, there was no moral conflict. Only order. Only law.
And yet, none of that mattered now. Because the crystal was inside Su Ningyan. And worse... it had fused with his soul.
Jun Haoxuan exhaled slowly, his brows tightening. He still did not understand how it had happened.
The dragon crystal was not something that simply... wandered. It was passed down. Guarded. Bound by lineage.
His father had given it to his mother. She had carried it within her until his birth. Once he was older, it had been retrieved... and passed on to him.
And as tradition dictated, he had to offer it to his other half. Not through force. But through courtship. Then to his heir...
Jun Haoxuan closed his eyes briefly. But this... this situation... He had never seen anything like it.
"I do not want to trap him..." he murmured under his breath.
But the crystal needed regulation. Control. Balance. And there was no universe, no realm among the three where he would allow Lan Yunlai to take it.
If the Divine Beast King discovered the truth, that the crystal could no longer be removed, he would not hesitate. He would kill Su Ningyan.
Jun Haoxuan’s gaze darkened. That would not happen. Not while he was still breathing.
As he turned a corner, a staff member collided into him.
She gasped, stumbling back immediately.
It was the same beastwoman who had shared gossip about the manor earlier.
"I—I’m so sorry!" she said quickly, bowing her head, her voice nervous. "I wasn’t looking where I was going."
"It’s fine. I wasn’t paying attention either." Jun Haoxuan gave a small nod. His tone was calm. Polite. "Be careful."
The woman’s cheeks flushed faintly as he walked past her. She remained standing there, watching his retreating figure until he disappeared completely from sight.
All of a sudden, her posture changed. The nervous stiffness melted away. Her expression hardened.
Without hesitation, she turned and made her way down the corridor, slipping into one of the staff chambers.
Inside, three other attendants were gathered, chatting loudly and laughing.
"I’m telling you, he’s greedy," one of them said, arms crossed with jealousy written all over her face. "Jun Haoxuan is here too."
"It’s insane that no one outside knows about this," another whispered, leaning forward. "If I climbed the roof and shouted everything, I’d probably be killed on the spot."
"I dare you," someone snorted.
"How many spirit stones would I even get for that?"
"Three."
"Three?! That’s nothing! Are you mad?"
"What if we’re just making assumptions?"
"Assumptions are fun."
The loud, careless chatter continued.
The beastwoman ignored them. She moved straight to the corner of the room, crouched by a wooden drawer, and pulled it open.
Inside, a red and gold flute lay wrapped in cloth. 𝓯𝙧𝙚𝒆𝙬𝙚𝒃𝙣𝙤𝒗𝓮𝓵.𝙘𝙤𝙢
Su Ningyan’s flute.
Her fingers curled around it without hesitation. She slipped it into her robe and she turned to leave.
"A-Ting?" One of the women looked up. "Where are you going?"
Ting turned back with a bright smile. "I need to fetch something from the medicine stall. I think I’m coming down with something." She rubbed her neck lightly, forcing a small cough.
"Don’t stay out too long," another warned. "We still have baths to prepare."
"Of course."
And with that, she exited the chamber.
