Transmigration:The Villain Wants A Happy End Without His BeastHusbands-Chapter 85: A Pleasant Morning
As Ningyan woke with a slow stretch, it took him exactly one second to realize he was still in Rong Yue’s chamber.
That wasn’t the only thing.
Rong Yue was awake.
He lay facing Ningyan, watching him with calm blue feline eyes. His golden-striped tiger ears twitched lazily, his tail swaying in an unhurried rhythm. He was far too close, golden hair catching the morning light, solid, defined chest fully on display.
Ningyan startled and immediately shuffled backward.
"Pleasant morning, isn’t it?" Rong Yue asked mildly as Ningyan pushed himself upright, rubbing at his forehead.
"Yes. I— I guess." Heat flooded Ningyan’s face as memories from the previous night surfaced. "I, um... Wuhen and I—"
Rong Yue smiled, clearly amused by the color blooming across Ningyan’s cheeks.
"There’s nothing to be ashamed of. We all have desires. Besides," he added lightly, "it was a nice sight."
Ningyan blinked, then flopped back onto the bed and turned to study him more carefully.
"Why are you with Wuhen?" he asked. "Is it because you’re in love with him?"
Rong Yue didn’t hesitate.
"I’m not sure what Wuhen and I have is something I can explain with words," he said easily. "You can only see it."
Ningyan swallowed. He had seen it.
"Do you want him all to yourself?" Ningyan asked suddenly, sitting up again. "I could help you, you know. Win his heart completely. I’m very good at those things."
Rong Yue watched him with an openly amused expression.
"I’m sure you are," he said. "But let me give you some advice."
Ningyan stiffened slightly. The word advice dredged up Yunyi’s voice and the sting of her slap.
"Advice about what?"
"About Wuhen," Rong Yue said calmly. "He likes control. He enjoys playing with his food."
Ningyan frowned. "So I’m his food?"
Rong Yue laughed softly. "Only if you let yourself be."
Ningyan stared at him. "You’re aware he trapped me with a spirit mate chain, right?"
"Yes," Rong Yue replied evenly. "I can see it."
Then his gaze sharpened, intent but not unkind. "What I’m telling you is this: you can use Wuhen’s affection. Weaponize it. Bend him to your will."
Ningyan’s breath hitched.
"Resisting him, running from him, that only makes it fun," Rong Yue continued. "It excites him. It gives him control."
He leaned slightly closer. "But if you stop running... if you let him feel like he’s already losing you—"
Rong Yue smiled faintly. "Then you control him."
Ningyan agreed with that. "Everyone’s giving me advice these days."
He climbed out of the bed as he spoke, stretching lazily. His gaze drifted, unbidden, to the tiger-beast prince still watching him. Those feline eyes followed his movements in that quiet, attentive way that made Ningyan slow his breathing without realizing it.
"Has he gone to see Lan Tianheng?" he asked. He couldn’t help himself.
Rong Yue pushed himself out of bed with unhurried grace.
"I’ll have the servants draw you a bath," he said calmly. "We can talk over breakfast while we wait for Wuhen to return."
His tone suggested there was nothing to worry about.
And really, there shouldn’t have been.
Wuhen could handle himself.
So why did Ningyan feel uneasy all of a sudden?
He frowned faintly, running his fingers through his hair as Rong Yue left the chamber. A deep sigh slipped from his chest before he could stop it.
Minutes later, servants flooded in efficiently. A bath was prepared, steam curling through the room. Clean robes were laid out, hands gentle as they dressed him. Breakfast followed, dish after dish arranged neatly on the table.
But Rong Yue didn’t return.
Ningyan sat there, staring at the food, appetite strangely absent.
Then the door burst open.
"Ningyan!" Rong Chao rushed in, eyes widening the moment he saw him. "I heard you were here."
Ningyan rose immediately. "Chao?"
Rong Chao’s gaze flicked around the chamber, suspicion sharp in his expression.
"You’re in my brother’s chamber’s," he said slowly. "How did that happen? Are you here against your will?"
For half a second, Ningyan wondered what would happen if he told the truth. That Rong Yue had watched calmly while Wuhen...
He stopped himself.
Instead, he gave Rong Chao his most innocent look. "I’m not."
At that moment, Rong Yue stepped back into the chamber, fully dressed and composed. His eyes landed on the two of them and he didn’t look shocked or embarrassed in the slightest.
If anything, he looked... normal.
As though having his brother’s friend in his bed overnight was an entirely ordinary affair.
"What are you doing here, Chao?"
"I heard Ningyan was here," Rong Chao said carefully. "I just wanted to confirm it. What’s going on? Why is he here? Is he in danger?"
Ningyan felt warmth bloom in his chest.
Rong Chao was genuinely worried about him.
"He’s fine," Rong Yue said smoothly.
But Rong Chao clearly didn’t believe him. His gaze shifted back to Ningyan, curious and searching. Ningyan met it this time and offered a small, reassuring smile.
Rong Chao still didn’t look convinced.
"Very well," he said at last. "I’ll begin training."
With one final glance, he left the chamber, leaving Ningyan alone with Rong Yue.
Ningyan exhaled and gave a nervous smile. "That was... awkward."
Rong Yue chuckled softly and gestured toward the table laden with dishes. They sat, and for a moment, they ate in silence until Ningyan spoke.
"What are you going to do about the demon tool?"
"I’ll lock it away," Rong Yue replied calmly, lifting his cup. "And I’ll find out whether there are more beasts wielding them. I’ve already sent eyes out. News will come soon."
Ningyan nodded and returned to his meal.
Then, a heavy wave of spiritual energy crashed through the manor.
The air shuddered. The pressure was sharp, overwhelming, spreading outward like ripples through the entire Celestial Beast Academy.
Rong Yue’s expression hardened instantly as he rose to his feet. Ningyan did the same.
Another wave hit, stronger this time.
They exchanged a look.
There was only one person that came to mind.
"Wuhen," Ningyan breathed.
They moved at once.
Outside, Rong Yue leapt effortlessly onto the rooftops, his movements swift and precise. Ningyan followed, struggling to keep pace. The moment his feet hit solid ground, a glowing green portal flared open beneath him.
"What—" He gasped as the ground vanished.
The last thing he saw was Rong Yue’s eyes widening in shock as he turned toward him. And then Ningyan was swallowed whole by the portal.
